Aaargh!! WTF have they done?!

it was terrible before but now it’s going to be absolutely impossible to find the right size.

now if I want a size 14 I can only choose medium which will show me all size 12 and 14s. 🙈🙈

But I don't want to search for Medium, and get a range of sizes. I want to see items that are labelled 14, by searching for size 14.... If it's a brand I don't know well, I will then check the listing for measurements, or check the brand website for a size guide before deciding if a 14 from that brand will fit me. I don't really have an issue with Vinted calling a size 14 L or XL or M... Most UK clothing has a single numeric size on the label, and that's what I want to search for.

ThatLemonBiscuit · 10/11/2025 13:48

I had no idea what this was about until I saw it for myself! It must've updated overnight?! So gutted. It's going to be so difficult for me because my top is a size smaller than my bottom half and it was so much easier to be more specific!

i think for most UK brands the size guides equate S to 8-10 and M to 12-14. So I think the change brings Vinted more in line with typical sizing.

Not true I’m afraid. I’ve just been on a run of trying on sizes across different brands (my weight and size have changed so I’ve been out calibrating), an M in many brands like Mint Velvet, Reiss, Jigsaw, etc is more of a 10/12. Zara’s sizing can be all over the place, but Ms there can be 8/10 or 10/12.

As more than one person has said, the smart user experience is to let people search brands by size because most of us know what size we are in different brands. Instead I’m getting a sea of listings served up that I don’t want and can’t filter, because the only way to see what they are is to check if the seller has added a pic of the size label. It absolutely sucks.

Oh FFS all my size 10 items are now listed as the wrong size... i'm chaning them to 'other' they all have the size in the title and a picture of the size tag.... wtf did they do that..

Don't do this! Buyers typically search by size, and they won't put 'other' in the search field. They will not see your title until they click on the listing.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 10/11/2025 13:59

The eBay search experience has always been much better than Vinted. Vinted don’t even let you search by Jean leg length.

it’s much better to be able to list the actual size on the label like you can on eBay as others have said.

Looks like what they've done is decide they want a new sizing scheme, but because they haven't allowed the user to input the precise sizing in the label from the beginning (having already grouped them 8/S, 10/M, 12/L, ...), they have done the conversion to the new scheme by just keeping the letter part of each grouping constant, and matching to the new number category they've chosen.

They've basically screwed themselves any time they want to make a sizing change, by not allowing the user to record exactly what size is on the label. Either they keep the letter the same, and all the numbers get messed up, or they keep the number the same, and the letters get messed up.

I may be wrong, but I assume numbered sizing schemes are more common in women's clothes, so they could have done a little less damage by keeping the numbering constant rather than the lettering. But the less precise they are about recording sizes, the worse this will be (and I don't think the new groups of 8-10, 12-14, etc. are going to help in the slightest).

No it doesn’t. It’s showing XL as size 20-22. XL is equivalent to a 16 for most UK brands.

Thanks for heads up. I’ve just checked and my size 12/14 dress I’m selling is now marked as 20/22

throwa · 10/11/2025 14:06

Also thanks for heads-up. My size 16 tops are now all showing as 22-24 😱. Fortunately I put the (real) size in the title and always photo the actual label showing brand and size, but how are people going to search for items?!

It would be funny, but I actually want to buy some things on Vinted this evening, argh.

deadend · 10/11/2025 14:08

It’s done a favour long term tbh. I’m a small size 8 but not an 6 and so I search size 8’s as a 10 is way too big for me, 6s too small.

Everything in my favourites that were size 8 previously are now listed as bigger sizes. I’d never find them again if I was searching for them using a size filter.

I won’t be buying anything anymore as I can’t trust their sizing when I search for things and I can’t afford to keep sending stuff back to sellers when a 10 or a 6 turns up.

HighlyUnusual · 10/11/2025 14:09

I have just messaged someone to say is your item a 12 or 14- as I'm a good 14, she said I'm a 10 and it's a 12! Bit loose. So, this is really annoying.

I'm now looking at babelled 20-22 size XL jackets which are like the old 14's from vintage brands...no idea what size anything is now.

Frenchfrychic · 10/11/2025 14:13

It’s only women’s clothes, not men’s. I had a few favourites for my husband and it still comes up with the right waist measurement or small medium large etc.

it means you can’t tell what’s on the label. So you need to click on an item and flip through the images to see the label and if the seller hasn’t shown it or written it in the description, it means you don’t know the size. I know my size in certain brands that interest me, I don’t want smaller or bigger, and I don’t want to mess around looking for images of labels.

sizing is important to be accurate, making it vague is not a positive.

IamIfeel · 10/11/2025 14:14

And I thought it was bad enough just trying to select which age group so list kids sizes where the label says 4-5years. Personally I'd list age 4, but there's a whole world of people who disagree with me.

This update is just insane and cements that I will never both to try and buy myself clothes from Vinted.

champagneplanet · 10/11/2025 14:15

Thank you for this thread! Noticed this earlier and thought it was an error by the seller!

Onionringo · 10/11/2025 14:22

Oh, this is annoying! I've gone in and manually changed my adult listings - thankfully only had a few. But I was just about to do a trawl for some new winter things, and have no idea what to search under! I never buy without seeing a pic of the size label, but what to search for to get the right results? I'm usually a 14, which was previously XL but now M. So, assuming most listings went on before this change, should I search under XL as chances are most won't have yet changed their listings? Searching under M-XL will result in so much wasted time!

Clementine183 · 10/11/2025 14:24

I've had a message from Vinted titled "Improved clothing sizes" (errrmm...), saying that they are now more accurate and that they've updated a lot of listings already (?!) but that we should check ours are correct.

It's the top sizes at each band that are being affected - e.g. the items I had listed as size 8 are still showing as Small/8-10 (as size 8 was formerly their Small), but the ones I had at size 10 are now showing as Medium/12-14 (as size 10 was formerly their Medium). So badly thought through. My fear is that now buyers who are looking for, say, a size 10 might search for the new Medium as they'll think lots of people won't have changed their listings, so they won't even see the listings that have been updated to the new sizing system. Grrrrrrrr.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 10/11/2025 14:27

Moltenpink · 10/11/2025 09:40

It’s quite impressive that they made an already terrible sizing system worse!

Isn't it just. FFS. 😖

Now, do we go and change listings ... or will they correct a glitch and we'll have to do it all again?

jeomeollibyeoldul · 10/11/2025 14:29

this is complete insanity, why would they do this? at least if they are going to change the sizing system, they should ask people to start using it when putting new listings in, and not update every single listing on vinted to be innaccurate and wrong! i mean wtf

Debs1964 · 10/11/2025 14:32

Wtf has happened i can be 16 18 or a 20 depending on brand now I have no idea.

HumBumBum · 10/11/2025 14:32

Oh was just about to do some listings, but I’m switching them all on holiday for now!

I had that notification too! 🤨

Hopealong · 10/11/2025 14:36

I'm in Portugal and use the Europen Vinted as well as the UK one at times. The European one has not made the change, so still the same as the UK was. Might just be a matter of time though....

MyrtleLion · 10/11/2025 14:38

Why can't they just use the sizing used on the garment? That way you know if a Zara XL or an M&S 16 will fit! And you can prove it by photographing the label!

Dollymylove · 10/11/2025 14:41

Only just noticed this!! I have things labelled size 14, now suddenly 16-18!!
What's all that about!!

ThirdStorm · 10/11/2025 14:42

So if Vinted are slowly working through their change, maybe things will eventually end up corrected and better. But right now all my watched items which are a 12 say they are 16-18 and 14s state 20-22. Go figure.
