Trainers for wedding outfit/ trendy / comfy

omega4ever · 30/07/2025 22:20

Im going to a family wedding soon and have a dress and jacket and bag all from vinted that I like. I want to wear trainers of some sort with my outfit... I have feet issues and can't bear the thought of uncomfortable shoes for 12 hours.

What trainers are trendy please ATM.
Either white or white and light or sky blue ... I like my old suede navy adiddas gazelles but they are quite battered and I think I'll treat myself to something new having saved on the rest of my outfit.

Please help. . Or suggest something else. I hate open toe sandles so these are not an option either.

Also if you wear fashion trainers you can easily wear comfortable pumps. Many firms cater for feet that need a bit more support. Queen Camilla wears Sole Bliss. Lots of comfortable options from them.

That's fine if you have wide feet. Most of the 'comfort' brands seem to think people have wide feet and or bunions. I have regular width feet and only a slight bunion so trainers would still be a better option for me. Ballet pumps don't offer enough support either.

What support do you need sitting in church and eating a meal? As I said, try the Duchess of Kent look but you can buy comfortable pumps if anyone prefers that look.

Corfumanchu · 04/08/2025 20:08

There are several brands who specialise in shoes which are at least as comfortable as trainers if not more so.
I think people will think you are being disrespectful wearing trainers at a wedding

Well I'd have to get there and then stand around for all the boring bits. There's also wasting money on something just for a wedding as I'd never wear them again!

ThePoetsWife · 04/08/2025 22:05

What about gold or silver trainers?

The bride and groom are the only ones whose opinions matter, though. Unless you’re Hyacinth Bucket.

@PinkSparklyPussyCatWould you be walking a few miles to get there then? You never know, you might even like a change! We, as a human race, tend to evolve! Maybe you would like to join in?

jeaux90 · 05/08/2025 08:12

OP one thing I would say about Addidas is they are quite “slabby” so when you first start wearing them they don’t have much give, you’ll need to wear them in IME.

For future reference Nero Giardini trainers are super comfortable you can get those online/John Lewis. But also carvela trainers.

What’s wrong with pumps or Mary Janes? The pavers, yes I agree, horrible, but these are flat comfortable shoes that can be dressed up or down, and quite fashionable at the moment.

Yes, I get that, they’re definitely not supportive. I was just wondering why it makes the person who made the comment “sad” when they’re suggested.

Wow, aren't you charming? As you know absolutely nothing the problems I have with my foot kindly keep your bitchy comments to yourself. I'll take the advice from my consultant and physio rather some random on MN.

It depends what’s wrong with your feet - Mary Jane’s and pumps give me blisters, I don’t need support.
I think people should accept the OP knows her own feet and understands what she needs to wear to feel comfortable.

Wear what you want - check out these light blue Veja Volley sneakers- I have them and absolutely love them. They also have a little brogue stumble stitch at the front which makes them look smarter.

It wasn’t the OP I was replying to. It was someone who said it makes them sad when people suggest MJs or ballet pumps.

@PinkSparklyPussyCat Maybe don’t post about style and fashion then? You have your problems that don’t help anyone be fashionable.

Nasty and unnecessary.

People with health problems should feel very welcome to post on S&B - an attitude like yours will hopefully never be fashionable.

Who knew that you're not allowed to be fashionable if you've got 'problems'?

You obviously have your share of problems as well, the difference being that I can do something for my foot problems, you're stuck with your bitchy personality.

Thanks for all the suggestions . I'm happy to report that I am now the proud owner of a brand new pair of beautiful comfortable trainers that perfectly match my dress, jacket and handbag combo and I think look great.... as does my DH. I dont think I'll change the laces to ribbon.... I'll just keep it very simple. They even make me feel an inch taller which is a bonus!

Im so pleased that I'll have comfortable feet for 12 hours and can enjoy the day as intended.

Its been very interesting to hear all theses different views and opinions. Thank you all and especially the positive and empathetic amongst you.

As I said upthread I think the B &G will be absolutely fine with whatever anyone is wearing. They will just be glad to share their day with friends and family having fun.

Love these OP, enjoy the wedding

Love these, i need them in my life 😂 i’m a big fan of trainers, recent faves are gazelles, campus and i’ve just bought my first pair of bolds, now wanting this colour as well as many others 🙈. I’ve started wearing them more on a daily basis since having a bunion op (due the next foot in a month or so) and have decided i’m not risking “ruining” my feet again for heels. Enjoy the wedding, i bet you will be the last on the dance floor and loads of people will be saying they’d wished they had them in too. X
