Trainers for wedding outfit/ trendy / comfy

omega4ever · 30/07/2025 22:20

Im going to a family wedding soon and have a dress and jacket and bag all from vinted that I like. I want to wear trainers of some sort with my outfit... I have feet issues and can't bear the thought of uncomfortable shoes for 12 hours.

What trainers are trendy please ATM.
Either white or white and light or sky blue ... I like my old suede navy adiddas gazelles but they are quite battered and I think I'll treat myself to something new having saved on the rest of my outfit.

Please help. . Or suggest something else. I hate open toe sandles so these are not an option either.

I suppose it depends what the outfit is. Trainers with a typical Phase 8, Hobbs "wedding guest" dress aren't disrespectful or inappropriate- just odd and not in a good way ; more I forgot to pack my shoes way than hey I'm so rebellious way.

Other outfits less so.

Trainers and trouser suits look very old hat.

I bought a Phase Eight jumper for £3 in a charity shop yesterday and thought if you! In my defence, it is a very nice jumper. Grin

I wore bright red Converse All Stars to a wedding but it was here in Italy where Jeans and trainers are acceptable and I was not the only person in them too. However as a fellow foot pain suffer who lives in trainers, take a look at these that come in so many colours. They are SO comfortable, I now own 4 pairs https://www.clarks.com/en-gb/search?query=funny I think they are gorgeous, soem people thing they are ugly. More colours on Amazon too.

I have a pair of ON and they are very confortable. There's a sale on their website, Office also stocks some models

I don’t think people are giving the OP a hard time because they’re uptight or don’t understand her problem, it’s just irritating when someone describes themself as a rebal rebel especially when they’re planning to do something that’s not particularly daring or shocking.

omega4ever · 31/07/2025 18:00

Ok... thanks for the suggestions and helpful comments.
I agree its not really rebellious at all... poor description of mine... I just dont want to have to buy and wear uncomfortable shoes that will never be worn again and will make me feel miserable and grumpy and antisocial.

I love trainers and my feet need good support. They are used to trainers. I want to dance later and be comfortable in my footwear for 12+ hours. The trainers will be new and clean obviously.

I have a lovely masai dress from vinted to wear and a white linen cropped casual jacket . The dress is sleeveless , a stunning bluebell blue colour jersey with tiny white hearts that look like polkadot from afar. Fits well over bust and flares out to below knee/ mid calf. Very comfortable. Square neckline. I really like it. I have a cute vinted handbag that will be perfect.

I have been looking at many of your suggestions... thank you. I do actually like the fitflop trainers... maybe silver... but really like the coloured suede adidas gazelles, sambas and court shoes. I know I'd wear these again afterwards. I do like the embellished etsy converse... but maybe for the bride not for myself as too fussy.... but very cute.

I’ve been to 4 weddings this year and quite a few guests were wearing trainers. All dressed well and looked very stylish. A couple of women wore Vejas so these may work.

https://www.veja-store.com/en_gb/p/campo-canvas-white-steel-CA0103136.html

Was going to suggest these too. They are standard work wear with longer skirt/ trousers and not out of pace at all. I’m amazed by people saying disrespectful!

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 31/07/2025 18:38

Haven’t read the whole thread but have you seen the Liberty’s adidas trainers, I think some of these would look lovely with a wedding outfit!

zaxxon · 31/07/2025 18:40

Those blue & white Vejas are super cute. I reckon they'd be perfect if they're wide enough

BlueLurker · 31/07/2025 18:42

Wow there’s a lot of dinosaurs on this thread 😂 The last wedding I went to I wore Birks… obviously I knew the couple and whether they’d mind, and I did buy new ones (and the shiny ones rather than standard), but it didn’t feel out of place in the slightest. It was obvious from the rest of my outfit that I’d made some kind of effort over everyday-wear.

LemonadeSunshine · 31/07/2025 19:49

No suggestions but I'm with you on wearing trainers! People can be so conditioned to what is 'acceptable' when in truth, it affects their life not one whit.
Enjoy the wedding and your comfortable feet!

I went to a very smart wedding and one woman was wearing trainers. She hsd replaced the laces with glitzy ribbons. She looked fab!

This too! I changed my wedding trainer laces for satin ribbons, very happy with the look 😊

I don’t think it matters which trainers you choose to wear. Trainers are trainers and no matter how you try to dress them up they will always just be a pair of trainers

Well, she's not going to try and pretend they're not trainers is she? And yes of course it matters which trainers she chooses, as patently not all trainers are the same. There's a world of difference between wearing a box-fresh pair of Sambas or Vejas, and wearing a muddy pair of trail trainers, but of course you know that really.

Trainers all look the same to me.

Zeborah · 31/07/2025 21:07

I’ve got MS & can only wear trainers (gazelles) & yes I have worn them to two wedding out of necessity

isitme111 · 31/07/2025 21:11

I think trainers will be fine as long as they are new. I once saw someone at a wedding wearing comfy trainers that looked a good few years old and that did look a bit strange.

Skissors · 31/07/2025 21:18

They come in pale blue and white too

Jumpthewaves · 31/07/2025 07:33

Its not unconventional, it's disrespectful and rude. Why not buy some cheap proper shoes for at least the ceremony and then change into your trainers afterwards?

Depends on the wedding.

Lovesabadboy · 31/07/2025 22:33

I went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago during the really hot period of weather.
I was not happy to wear uncomfy shoes for 12/13 hours, and my feet had swelled so much with the heat, they would have been even more uncomfortable.

I wore these (zoom in as they have a pretty pattern embellished on them)...

(Worn with a dress)
Honestly, they were so comfortable...right through the day and for the dancing in the evening!
I didn't feel out of place as no one was even looking at me - they were looking at my beautiful friend getting married!

Pretty much all the other women and girls at the wedding changed out of any heels as soon as they got to the reception and were popping on flip flops, trainers and even DMs for comfort.

I really like the Fitflop Mary Jane’s that Instagram keeps showing me, don’t know if they work OP although possibly too dark with what sounds like a lovely blue dress.

citychick · 01/08/2025 07:05

World Secrets make gorgeous and very comfortable trainers. Not cheap, but very easy to wear.
