Which wedding dress- or neither?!

Hello! I had a thread a while back where I asked for help finding my wedding dress. (2nd wedding for me, 1st for DP- swore he’d never get married)
Ideally I wanted sparkles- the more the better! And not fitted! Had some excellent suggestions, tried loads but ended up
getting a proper fitted (eek!) lace gown- no sparkles!

I don’t think think it’s the one. I think I got swept away and bought too soon and honestly, when I look back at the pictures, I don’t think it’s flattering. I’m all tummy and hips. I know I should be more body positive, but some skims or go on the jabs… but I can’t shake that image out my head

Was out with DP at the weekend and we saw a couple getting married. She was in a pink Needle and Thread. She looked gorgeous and glowing. DP knows I’m agonising over what to wear and pointed her out telling me to just wear the best dress. It didn’t matter if it was a wedding dress or coloured. It should just be the best dress imaginable.

I had a look on N&T, ordered several and love this one. My daughter says I look like Elsa. I love the shape it gives, the sleeves are beyond, DP loves me in blue….
But I need some validation from internet strangers!

Which is better??( Dress is Comet Ankle Gown on N&T if anyone wants close up
pics!)

It's fabulous!

Anything that 'makes your heart so happy' should be worn regularly, even if you're not going anywhere.

I love traditional wedding dresses but close up the second one is lovely too. It really suits you.

Lovecatsandwater · 28/06/2025 12:44

The green one looks so lovely on you 🥰

newfriend05 · 28/06/2025 12:48

You can tell you feel fabulous in the blue, go with the dress you feel your best self in

Vater · 28/06/2025 12:55

No to the white and for a bride, no to the blue. I went to a wedding where the mother of the bride wore a v similar dress to the blue. If the white caught your eye, I’d aim for something floor length but still more evening gown than bridal, in a pale colour. Champagne may have washed you out but there will be a neutral that suits your skin tone.

Try reading the thread. OP has closed on the green and is very happy.

I'm late to the thread but so pleased you picked Elsa. It's beautiful, you look amazing, the back is stunning. The length is perfect (I'm not sure what others were looking at wheb they commented on the length - it won't get dirty being dragged around the floor. It won't get wet in muddy puddles if raining on the day. You can wear it again. It's jist gorgeous. Co graduations. Now relax and enjoy the building up.

@Vater There is no danger of anyone who is coming to the ceremony wearing anything similar. I’ve been with my mum to choose her dress, DP’s mum is nearly 80 and will likely be in a Jacques Vert shift dress and jacket special . One of my sister’s dresses like a teenage boy, the other two are very bohemian …
The ceremony is fairly small. Only around 30 people - siblings and tween / teen children mainly. Am pretty confident I’ll look like the bride. I will make sure I have some very bridal accessories too

Captain I didn’t mean that others would upstage you, I just meant that I feel you want to feel like a bride, particularly after thinking it wouldn’t happen again 😊

Vater · 28/06/2025 20:13

And also, I think you’ll look fabulous whatever you choose because you’re happy!

It’s a weird one, I had a massive Catholic Church wedding, numerous bridesmaids and a cathedral length train, tiara - the whole shebang! My actual wedding day was pretty miserable. He got really drunk and fell asleep in the bar of the hotel with a hen party. His mum opened our cards and took the money “for safe keeping’; gate crashers put my uncle in hospital…..
And although I have my amazing children, I was unhappy for quite some time.

This time, it’s not so much the wedding. It’s my new happy life and I just want to feel joyous. That’s all I think. I don’t think what I wear really matters 😍

That’s exactly right.

And frankly it’s not a dress you’d wear every day: it will feel special.

Exactly this. Go for it OP.
