Which wedding dress- or neither?!

Hello! I had a thread a while back where I asked for help finding my wedding dress. (2nd wedding for me, 1st for DP- swore he’d never get married)
Ideally I wanted sparkles- the more the better! And not fitted! Had some excellent suggestions, tried loads but ended up
getting a proper fitted (eek!) lace gown- no sparkles!

I don’t think think it’s the one. I think I got swept away and bought too soon and honestly, when I look back at the pictures, I don’t think it’s flattering. I’m all tummy and hips. I know I should be more body positive, but some skims or go on the jabs… but I can’t shake that image out my head

Was out with DP at the weekend and we saw a couple getting married. She was in a pink Needle and Thread. She looked gorgeous and glowing. DP knows I’m agonising over what to wear and pointed her out telling me to just wear the best dress. It didn’t matter if it was a wedding dress or coloured. It should just be the best dress imaginable.

I had a look on N&T, ordered several and love this one. My daughter says I look like Elsa. I love the shape it gives, the sleeves are beyond, DP loves me in blue….
But I need some validation from internet strangers!

Which is better??( Dress is Comet Ankle Gown on N&T if anyone wants close up
pics!)

I think you look stunning in the Elsa dress! It looks made for you ❤️

AlohaRose · 26/06/2025 18:52

I love the Elsa dress on you.

KnewYearKnewMe · 26/06/2025 19:16

Needle & Thread have some fantastic dresses. Have you looked at ones in cream and bridal colours? No formal need to go traditional, but you’ll stand out more possibly if you do, as guests may wear something like the Elsa dress for an October wedding.

lurchermummy · 26/06/2025 19:21

The second me! It’s lovely

lurchermummy · 26/06/2025 19:24

Also those saying a wedding dress has to be full length - nonsense, mine was ballerina length with underskirts and I loved it

Calliopespa · 26/06/2025 19:27

I can’t believe people are saying “neither”: the blue N and T looks beautiful on you.

I have no idea what they are expecting: it’s fabulous. Nothing wrong with the length and it says “ special day” without being OTT. I don’t think you’ll do better than that. Really.

The coloured one is absolutely bloody sensational. Go for that!

😆👍
Have a happy wedding day op.

captainflash · 26/06/2025 19:32

Aww shucks! You are such a lovely bunch and have said some wonderful things. I didn’t get a chance to try back on today but will do tomorrow. The validation has been really helpful, as have the scathing comments about the white 😂

To answer another question, I have tried the champagne / cream N&T dresses and the colour isn’t right for me. They were a bit bland. There’s no danger of someone turning up in a similar dress- our ceremony is small. Only around 30 people and that’s our close family.. I can pretty much work out what they will wear. The evening is bigger but relaxed. I think I’d still standout as the bride

The Elsa is gorgeous. I'm sorry but I really don't like the white dress - at best it's ordinary. And more important than any of our opinions is that you don't love it. And you absolutely should love your wedding dress!

Yes that’s true. The white is so very ordinary and the other is something really special.

Howilivenow2 · 26/06/2025 19:50

Have you looked at willowby by watters?

They do some beautiful more alternative wedding dresses in slightly different colours and you can often buy them secondhand or in bridal outlets. I got one for around £700 for my wedding and was so happy with the quality. I've added a few below.

The second one is more flattering and from your poses, it appears you are happier and more comfortable in it. If it doesn’t need to be white / cream / ivory and you love the colour, I would go for it!

henlake7 · 26/06/2025 19:56

I agree with PPs, the white one is very boring and generic.
The sparkly number with sleeves for days though? Chefs kiss!😁

Absentmindedsmile · 26/06/2025 19:58

The green one, but in white x

SmartiesParty · 26/06/2025 19:58

The Elsa one!!!

ErrolTheDragon · 26/06/2025 20:05

I’ve only read your posts, OP, not the whole thread.
The Elsa looks great on you! It looks like a dress which you’ll really enjoy wearing.

mathanxiety · 26/06/2025 20:15

The blue one is gorgeous. The white one doesn't suit you.

Little update. The Elsa is the one!!
I tried it on again this morning in the sunlight and it just makes my heart so happy. The sparkles bounce off everywhere, the sleeves, the colour…. I truly love it.

I hadn’t shown anyone in real life other than my daughter but I spoke to a trusted work friend yesterday and showed her. I showed the turkey teeth white, the round neck indigo and the Elsa. She did a little gasp when she saw it and said it was breathtaking. She knows my style and what I wear usually and said that it was so me- “The bridal white is so ordinary and you are not ordinary”

Thank you all for the reassurance and nice comments and disparaging ones about the white. I 100% know it’s it xxx

I’m so delighted you’re so happy @captainflash - FWIW the Elsa dress was my favourite too but what’s most important it how it makes you feel. Your wedding dress should thrill you - mine did, and I’m so glad yours does too.

Kwean · 28/06/2025 11:24

Huge congratulations - you look stunning but more importantly you feel stunning in it and your delight and confidence is bursting through the internet!

Are you going to keep it a surprise from OH? It would be amazing to see his reaction on the day.

Any thoughts on hair/shoes/flowers? (I'm so invested now......)

captainflash · 28/06/2025 11:32

I will keep it a secret from DP. I’ll hide it at my mum’s. I think he’ll like it. He’ll be surprised.

I will probably wear some silver heels as my daughter and niece are in silver dresses and I have some earrings of my mum’s I’ll wear. I don’t wear necklaces. Currently growing my hair a bit but might go for a glittery comb on one side or band of some kind.
My elder sister is a florist and will do my flowers. Not sure yet but she’ll do something spectacular

Wow - totally sorted.....do you need a coat/cloak?

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 28/06/2025 11:59

Dislike the first one, the green does suit you.
