Which wedding dress- or neither?!

Hello! I had a thread a while back where I asked for help finding my wedding dress. (2nd wedding for me, 1st for DP- swore he’d never get married)
Ideally I wanted sparkles- the more the better! And not fitted! Had some excellent suggestions, tried loads but ended up
getting a proper fitted (eek!) lace gown- no sparkles!

I don’t think think it’s the one. I think I got swept away and bought too soon and honestly, when I look back at the pictures, I don’t think it’s flattering. I’m all tummy and hips. I know I should be more body positive, but some skims or go on the jabs… but I can’t shake that image out my head

Was out with DP at the weekend and we saw a couple getting married. She was in a pink Needle and Thread. She looked gorgeous and glowing. DP knows I’m agonising over what to wear and pointed her out telling me to just wear the best dress. It didn’t matter if it was a wedding dress or coloured. It should just be the best dress imaginable.

I had a look on N&T, ordered several and love this one. My daughter says I look like Elsa. I love the shape it gives, the sleeves are beyond, DP loves me in blue….
But I need some validation from internet strangers!

Which is better??( Dress is Comet Ankle Gown on N&T if anyone wants close up
pics!)

Could you try the white version of the blue dress they have on the website? But I don’t think the white one you have is right - too white too shiny.

theresbeautyinwindysun · 25/06/2025 22:08

I think you’re perfect in the green dress. Really lovely and your body language in it says yes!

BettyCrockerClinic · 25/06/2025 22:12

Another vote for the blue/green! It’s unusual, flattering and I feel like the giant heart face emoji reflects how you feel in it 🥰

jalepenowine · 25/06/2025 22:15

I wish the Elsa dress was floor length. It ruins it being that length. It’s the better dress but wish it was longer.

Sunshineismyfavourite · 25/06/2025 22:16

The Comet gown is fabulous and I looked at the N & T website - the videos obviously do it way more justice than your pic. I agree with pps about the white gown, it's not the best. I think flattering, floaty, coloured and more unusual gowns for weddings, especially second weddings, can look much more beautiful than a white 'typical' wedding gown and veil, which for me only look great on the young anyway.

What about a white/off white N&T one? The Elsa one you posted is lovely.

@captainflash Love the blue/green one but also think you should try this one (not sure if the link has copied). I think if you are having second thoughts about the white one you’ve bought it says a lot. Wear whatever makes you feel happy.

captainflash · 25/06/2025 22:16

I did try a champagne N&T with a square neck- very similar but the sequins not the same. The colour washed me out. It wasn’t right.

The white dress is from a charity shop bridal boutique. It can’t be returned but wasn’t too expensive. I might be able to sell it on Vinted / Marketplace or just return it to the boutique and write it off for charity. I was with my mum. When I it on, I cried. But, I think it was the realisation that I was finally marrying him after him saying it would never happen. I think the lines are off. The belt isn’t stitched bit I do agree a clash with my tattoos!

So sorry but I think they’re both hideous 😬 but if N and T is your vibe, why not look for something else if you’re not sold on Elsa?

Dutchhouse14 · 25/06/2025 22:16

Greeny blue one is very flattering, it's gorgeous, I'm not so keen on white one, if you want white I think you can do better

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 25/06/2025 22:17

Blue. It's stunning

I wish they still had the laugh reaction. Am not offended!

Even in the photos, you’re holding yourself so much better in the second one, you look so much more comfortable and it’s as if it’s more ‘you’. I’d go for that one.

Neveranynamesleft · 25/06/2025 22:20

Another vote for neither sorry.

2chocolateoranges · 25/06/2025 22:21

The blue/green dress is beautiful on you, so flattering and eye catching, anyway no one said a bride had to wear a white dress, be bold. I wore a gold dress for our wedding 25years ago. Loved that it was different from every other brides dress.

Libertysparkle · 25/06/2025 22:21

Blue one. I bet you didnt want to take it off. That's how I felt when I found my dress!

jay55 · 25/06/2025 22:21

The sparkles, it’s like something from Come Dancing back in the day.

Noseyoldcow · 25/06/2025 22:23

i think the green/blue is way better than the white. Is it green though? My then brother in law to be forbade my husband’s sister wearing a green dress to our wedding because he said it would bring bad luck. I’d never heard of that superstition, and he is the last person you’d think would be superstitious, but he was very insistent and so she wore something else. We have been happily married for a very long time. Make of that what you will!

harriethoyle · 25/06/2025 22:25

I am genuinely sorry @captainflash - thank you for being so gracious 🤣 but if you like dramatic sleeves, capes etc, have a look at Marchesa Notte in the Outnet site, you might find something which tickles your fancy 💃🏻

captainflash · 25/06/2025 22:26

The blue doesn’t bother me. I was originally looking at a gold monsoon one. I thought DP would’ve have wanted me to be a ‘bride’ seeing he’s never had a wedding. Turns out he isn’t bothered. He told me to wear whatever I loved.
and I do think the Elsa (I like that it has a name!) is pretty special. The wedding is at the end of October so the sleeves will be good and it’s appropriate for the venue- town hall in a Castle / Cathedral town

You look like you will have much fun in the sparkles! Go for it 😻

GarlicMile · 25/06/2025 22:29

Elsa dress. Can you get an over-the-top, cascading sparkly headdress of some sort, too?

Have a lovely wedding!

LeaveALittleNote · 25/06/2025 22:30

I prefer the green one but it would look better if it was floor length. Can you get extra fabric to go underneath it as an extra layer and make it floor length? Could a dressmaker do that?

Studyunder · 25/06/2025 22:34

The blue one. You just look so much happier in your posture and it’s all about feeling great on your best day ever. You’ll be just as married at the end of the day, no matter what you wear.
The women in the wedding dress shop almost fainted when I picked 5 dresses, tried them all on and said- yup, that one’ll do 😂

Dramatic like this…

this is gorge but red might be a little too much.
