Which wedding dress- or neither?!

Hello! I had a thread a while back where I asked for help finding my wedding dress. (2nd wedding for me, 1st for DP- swore he’d never get married)
Ideally I wanted sparkles- the more the better! And not fitted! Had some excellent suggestions, tried loads but ended up
getting a proper fitted (eek!) lace gown- no sparkles!

I don’t think think it’s the one. I think I got swept away and bought too soon and honestly, when I look back at the pictures, I don’t think it’s flattering. I’m all tummy and hips. I know I should be more body positive, but some skims or go on the jabs… but I can’t shake that image out my head

Was out with DP at the weekend and we saw a couple getting married. She was in a pink Needle and Thread. She looked gorgeous and glowing. DP knows I’m agonising over what to wear and pointed her out telling me to just wear the best dress. It didn’t matter if it was a wedding dress or coloured. It should just be the best dress imaginable.

I had a look on N&T, ordered several and love this one. My daughter says I look like Elsa. I love the shape it gives, the sleeves are beyond, DP loves me in blue….
But I need some validation from internet strangers!

Which is better??( Dress is Comet Ankle Gown on N&T if anyone wants close up
pics!)

The Elsa is fabulous and you seem happy in it. Go for it.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 26/06/2025 07:41

The blue dress is too short.

The white dress is too shiny and the belt is too high.

You're looking for a wedding dress. You have a great figure. You have plenty of time. Buy a wedding dress.

OntheBorder1 · 26/06/2025 07:46

The Elsa one for sure - it really suits you and is flattering.

What do you mean "too short"? My wedding dress was shorter than that one, I didn't know there was a rule about the length of dresses - or what makes a wedding dress.Confused

OP, it's your wedding and you should wear whatever brings you joy. Please don't take any notice of posters projecting their own old fashioned ideas onto you.

Too short for what?

ResidentPorker · 26/06/2025 07:55

The Elsa one FOR SURE. It’s fabulous on you!

partyboat356 · 26/06/2025 08:01

Being honest, the white one is awful But the blue one looks nice on you.

GameOfJones · 26/06/2025 08:01

Elsa dress 100%. You look fabulous in it. It can be your "something blue."

DurhamDurham · 26/06/2025 08:04

You look so good in the Elsa dress, it’s perfect. Not a fan of the shiny white wedding dress.

EmotionallyWeird · 26/06/2025 08:04

I like the second dress better both in absolute terms and for the occasion. I'm not a big fan of very fitted wedding dresses and I don't like pure white. The other dress has movement and a lovely texture/shimmery effect.

Younginside · 26/06/2025 08:09

You look gorgeous in the blue/ green one 😍 and the shape of the back works brilliantly with your tattoo. Beautiful and celebratory, and perfect for October. Will also look lovely with your OH in blue

Too short for what?

The wearer.

It's her wedding. She is playing dress up!

I'm briefly charmed by the idea of everyone swishing around their daily lives in large, ornate frocks and morning suits but, well, we don't do that any more except for dress-up events, do we? (Thank god. Imagine the laundry!)

Yes, but it looks a loooot like the Elsa dress my daughter lived in when she was four.

LadyDanburysHat · 26/06/2025 08:33

The Elsa is gorgeous, and I think you really love it, so should go for it. I also love the red Marchesa, but realise that will not be everyones idea of nice.

kinleigh · 26/06/2025 09:18

The Elsa dress looks stunning on you. It really shows off your lovely figure, perfect!

Starlightstarbright4 · 26/06/2025 09:30

The thing about your wedding is it is just that ..

The more personal it is the more people remember it . The more it becomes about you two .

wear what you feel comfortable and confident in .

my wedding dress was purple so didn’t do traditional but had a very traditional bouquet.

I think sometimes the point of a wedding gets forgotten with tradition . It’s a celebration if your love for each other and a commitment to each other .

There are people commenting it’s too short in there opinion ( which you asked for ) does it feel too short or does it feel the dress you want to wear all day long .

captainflash · 26/06/2025 09:31

I've been reading back chuckling at the comments about the Turkey teeth white one. I am NEVER going to be able to wear that now. I posted the pictures on my family group chat when I bought it (I have three sisters) and they were all confused. None of them said it was what they expected. My mum then chipped in saying she thought I would go home and look at the pictures and cry because of my shape -thanks mum!! She did then try and retract it saying they were bad pictures and I looked lovely in the shop.

I have tried on around 20 proper wedding dresses and they just feel too 'much'. They are either too slinky, exposed, I hated my shape or my shoulders (I cannot wear strapless or halter) or just too floofy! I got married first time around 20 years ago and had a massive Catholic church wedding with cathedral train. I don't need to feel that way again.
I want to feel spectacular in a kick-ass dress that makes people go 'wow!' I absolutely love the sleeves of the N&T and it's the closest I've found. Although some say it's dress-up, it feels less dress up to me than the wedding dresses I've tried.

I have until 1st July to return the Elsa but might pop to London on Saturday and look at the sales in Harvey Nics, Harrods, Liberty etc. I'm also working from home today so will probably go try it on again - with better pants!

Re the length, it didn't feel short on but can see it looks so in pictures. My daughter took them so they are not the best. I have thin ankles (one part of me peri hasn't got too yet!) so showing them off didn't even cross my mind when I had it on.

Thank you to everyone saying nice things and to just feel joyous. I've had a really difficult week at work so reminding myself of the joy in things is important

I really don't like the white one, I think it looks dated and not in a cute vintage way.

The N&T one is much much better.

ADoughnutADay · 26/06/2025 09:43

go with the Elsa dress! You come across as confident and so happy! Be you!

heidyho · 26/06/2025 10:37

Another vote for the Elsa dress! But you may find something you like even more at the weekend so it's good to keep an open mind!! Don't let anyone crush your spirit ❤️

Lafufufu · 26/06/2025 10:52

I think the length is cool.

You could go for midi length too?

Kwean · 26/06/2025 10:58

captainflash · 26/06/2025 07:01

Morning all! I am very happy to be told the white one is awful, unflattering, turkey teeth shiny….. I got carried away in the moment. Hence my doubts and still wanting to look at pretty frocks

Thank you for the other suggestions and nice comments. Florals aren’t really me and the one suggested by @Milosc feels more dress up / Tinkerbell to me. I can’t really explain why.
I have done extensive scanning of the N&T website and did try some others. A one shouldered icy blue, a champagne one and an indigo. The aquamarine suited my skin tone best. Champagne wasn’t great and the icy blue was too pale.
I’ll attach a pic of the indigo- not the right style in this one. I felt it a bit too dark for me. DP will also wear navy so worried it would be too matchy matchy.

have also added a pic of the back of the Elsa. I like how it frames my back. I’m wearing an awful old bra and normal pants so think a ‘foundation garment’ would help! It’s also still 4 months away so have time to feel a bit better and move more. Bloody peri 🙄

Agree that the shape of the indigo one is all wrong and if your groom will be in navy you would be lost. The fitted shape is great for your lovely figure and the shorter length is fine as you are petite. What shoes would you go for? Dainty kitten heels would be lovely.
