Hi,

Here’s a new thread!

Thanks for the alert @faustina!

I too have managed the FM sandals @IlovePond, have also been waiting for them to be reduced. No idea if they’ll fit, so will see. But also, it’s the only summery item I’ve bought (apart from a boxy tee I could still wear now). Have stuck to accessories and footwear as I’ve also realised @ScottishMouse I shouldn’t buy out of season. Am tempted by a few summery items that are on sale now, but really trying to be disciplined as I need more AW bits from elsewhere.

Stoic123 · 25/09/2025 19:29

Very good @ScottishMouse.

@IlovePond - I've gone for the Puck. It's been a long time since I've bought some frivolous Toast and that colour is a favourite. I'll have to be strict about returning if I don't like it .I have a couple of Seasalt Vanessa cardigans which might work with it.

faustina · 25/09/2025 19:30

@IlovePond - you sent me back in to look at the dresses with such a glowing review but I'm going to concentrate only on things I can wear now, especially as I already bought quite a bit this week. Two reworn jumpers, one pair of trousers and the Blundstone clogs are all arriving tomorrow, and five (!) pairs of sale trousers have already been despatched. Hopefully they won't all be returns! Maybe you should do a repeat buy on your favourite colour? The Reworn trousers are a different colour to my favourite pair of which I already have two (the first pair are so trashed they're strictly gardening and at home now) and one of the sale trousers is a pair someone on the FB group recommended ages ago, so I'm hoping I'll like them too

IlovePond · 25/09/2025 19:47

@faustina - I have genuinely considered buying those dresses again ‘for spare’, but have restrained myself - so far…

@Stoic123 - I hope you like it. I have considered wearing the Puck as an autumn skirt with a jumper over the top. I may give that a whirl over the weekend and see how it goes!

@CakeAndJazz - I found the FM sandals tts for me and the multitude of strapping options meant that I could adjust them at various different points. I hope the indigo fit as well/are as comfortable as the brick ones I tried in store.

Which colour did you go for?

Sale talk has moved this thread along a bit. Should I start another one when we get to page 40?

OP posts:
faustina · 25/09/2025 19:52

@IlovePond - I do it all the time! I lived in shorts this summer and have bought duplicates of both styles which I don't regret in the least - both from Cos. No need to wait til my favourites had been washed - just whip out the other pair!

IlovePond · 25/09/2025 19:53

I’m tempted now @faustina - I would probably repurchase Pond if it ever reappeared.

Oh the FM sandals are a delight. SO comfortable, I walked miles in them over the summer.

Have looked at the sale, homewares pretty poor and managed to resist buying any clothes first time round - just bought a pair of Blundstone lug boots on Vinted so best not go back in!

CakeAndJazz · 25/09/2025 20:20

@IlovePond I got the indigo pair, and just in my usual FM trainer size. My feet are pretty narrow, so hoping the multiple straps work out…

ChelseaDetective · 25/09/2025 21:03

Just been back in and bought the nasturtium dress (so pretty!) and the linen check pinafore as I have a feeling that the chambray shirt and the poplin pinafore will almost certainly be going back - I forgot that I don’t really like chambray (but I was looking for a shirt that shape) and the poplin dress attracted me with its apron design - but it has thin straps 😒.

@ScottishMouse you have a very good point about trying not to buy out of season. I’ve clearly just failed massively!

They’re all different sizes but should be fine fit wise. I totally agree about the sniffy replies to critical reviews, and am very glad that I never get invited to leave one1

Poplinskirt · 25/09/2025 21:24

I always buy duplicates if something, particularly trousers fit as getting them to fit is a nightmare.
I ordered the Seren trousers in a 10 but fingers crossed Im a 12 so I've ordered 2 pairs.

If the sale was a week at least we would have time to try and buy a different or duplicate size.
Another high neck soft tee in the Pebble colour.

Those dresses are lovely @IlovePond but Im so fair that I would fry in the sun and I don't like layering under thin straps.

I really don't need anything else but some cracking prices

I don’t like layering under thin straps either, perhaps because it’s a very ‘young’ look and I’m old enough to remember when Bananarama were making it all the rage…

IlovePond · 26/09/2025 07:30

I do think those dresses lend themselves more to a ‘layer over’ look - I’m going to test drive the Puck with a jumper over it later. Will report back…

Still tempted to order various pairs of trousers, but I KNOW they would look awful - even if they fitted 😿

@IlovePond i too struggle with Toast trousers, at least the vaguely smart ones. I have a couple of pairs of check lounge trousers which are fine, but they are very casual, and I used to get on well with Alix trousers but weight gain around the middle means they no longer look good. Recently I bought the barrel leg cords and they work well for me, but again not very smart. I have ordered the crinkle cotton barrel leg ones in the sale and am hoping they might work, but reviews are mixed. But all the beautiful tailored trousers with wide legs and pleated fronts that look amazing on others just look comical on me, and that makes me a bit sad.

Stoic123 · 26/09/2025 08:31

@IlovePond - let us know how it goes. I'm now looking forward to a dress up session with the Puck when it arrives. At the miraculously (for Toast) bargain price of £30, I can take a bit of a risk about whether I'll actually wear it much. Provided, of course, that it looks good tried on.

Poplinskirt · 26/09/2025 10:13

Trousers are my nemesis @ScottishMouse
I would love to waft around in Alix and Gabis look like the perfect everyday trousers but if I can get my legs in them they are huge around the waist and comically short.

Annie's are my go to and am hoping the Seren are long enough 🙏
I have just gone back and ordered the Gathered waist jumpsuit -that's it
No more gives self a stern talking to!

OrangeyLemon · 26/09/2025 11:19

i have the nasturtium print dress @ChelseaDetective and I love it! I went a bit mad and bought a checked gauzy scarf, Jude wool trousers, lightweight linen shirt dress in midnight and I threw in the Fayre stripe poplin top in birch brown as a wild card. If the sale was in the shop I’d be trying them on to see, I wouldn’t intend to buy everything I tried on, so hoping I’ll be returning some of these and won’t fall in love with everything, as there are Toast autumn/winter things I want to buy!

IlovePond · 26/09/2025 11:42

@ScottishMouse - my trouser dilemma was resolved this morning as everything that was in my basket is now sold out in my size - which is probably just as well!

I find most Toast trousers too long/baggy in the crotch. The lovely cotton barrel trousers fitted nicely but made me look like an actual barrel - not the look I was going for 😹

ScottishMouse · 26/09/2025 11:47

I was eyeing up the yellow mill pond culottes again yesterday @IlovePond. I’d say I have tried and returned them in about 3 sales now. The shape and fit is so perfect for me, but I cannot get over the yellow, it’s just too much for me. I wish they would make this style in some other fabrics (some nice dark fabrics if you are reading Toast!).

IlovePond · 26/09/2025 11:52

I remember you getting them to try@ScottishMouse - they are lovely.

OP posts:
ScottishMouse · 26/09/2025 12:06

They are, but they are not an everyday trouser in that fabric!

IlovePond · 26/09/2025 12:32

I know what you mean @ScottishMouse - they seem like ‘holiday’ wear in that fabric.

I have just had another look - virtually everything is sold out except for tiny sizes. I wish I had done a second order yesterday, but never mind!

That’s good - I could only get it in a 10 so I’m hoping its on the roomy side like the Mila and Bryn dresses 😬.

I bought six items in the sale yesterday, mostly because ‘Why not, its worth a try for £50…..’

I’m another one hoping not to like them all too much, as Scottishmouse pointed out, I’m not sure of the wisdom of buying out of season, particularly when that season is Summer and I live in Aberdeen!

Also after not seeing anything appealing in the new season stuff I’ve suddenly decided I’d like another pair of Annies and the half sleeve fine knit jumper - which will come to £310.00 - the prices certainly have risen a lot recently.

ScottishMouse · 26/09/2025 14:35

Well, my sale parcel just arrived! Along with my reworn purchase form earlier in the week. I paid for the newly reinstated RM24 option in the hope it might arrive tomorrow and give me time to reorder anything that I needed a different size in before the sale ended, but it arrived even quicker than I had hoped for. Anyway, nearly everything is going back.
The Reworn skirt is too big - or at least there is too much fabric in it despite the waist being ok. It looks a bit costumey.
Sale-wise, I ordered two pinafores in the hope of replacing a much loved cotton linen one which no longer fits. The denim one with the very deep v looks comical on a bust. The apron one looks just like an apron, and not at all flattering on me.
The chambray lounge shorts are fine but nothing special, and a bit long for my short legs.
The hemp cotton vest is a bit snug on the bust in M.
The barrel leg crinkle cotton trousers are the only maybe. They are quite big, I would have liked to try xs too, but that might not hang so well. My only reservation is that I will need to take them up, and this might be tricky with the double layer of fabric and the crinkling. Will have a ponder.
i won’t be (re)ordering anything else.
