Hi,

Here’s a new thread!

Thanks @IlovePond

Reposting here as I hadn’t seen the new thread when posting!

Garment linen dress in stone—I put on immediately when it arrived yesterday and have been wearing since. It’s just right for this warm weather. Bit of a sleeve, perfect relaxed fit and long enough. I bought in a small but I am usually a medium in the new sizing tops however the reviews mentioned sizing down. Was worried the stone would be too grey but it’s a very lovely pebble and looks I think good with tanned skin. It wasn’t hugely discounted in the sale so still expensive but I’m really happy with it. Has anyone else got this in any colour way?

Trug and huge hat still on their way!

Countmeout · 21/06/2025 13:38

Thanks @IlovePond

IlovePond · 21/06/2025 13:43

That’s a lovely dress @MiracleToast - I wish it was in a darker colour too as I can’t get away with very pale colours with my skin tone.

@Poplinskirt / thanks for the nightie update. My DSis has bought it too and I am jealous!

I got distracted last night and this morning by frantic calls from DB who was stuck at Stonehenge having lost his bank card🙀hence delay in starting new thread. (How banks expect you to block a card without knowing all your details off by heart is a mystery!) Fortunately some kind person had handed it in - it had been left in a shop miles away!

@OftenOrange - I had a look again at the sale just now and a couple of things had appeared that weren’t there earlier. It’s not a restock by any means, just one or two random items.

Hopefully Toast will be better than they were last sale at putting returns back into the site. I sent my stuff back yesterday, so hoping to get a refund promptly enough to justify ordering the things I missed out on earlier, (assuming they come back into stock - looking at you, nightie and batching pjs!)

@IlovePond 👏for new thread
@MiracleToast I ordered the dress in the same colour as you , thought it would be good with scarves and necklaces that don’t look great with much of my Toast stuff, but I didn’t know about sizing down.

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2025 14:03

Thanks @IlovePond. Also reposting this for @MiracleToast….i love that linen dress, but I am very pale with pinkish tones and it did not work for me. When my 15yo dd (who does not hold back!) saw it, she said I looked like I had escaped from an asylum! After that comment I had to return it, but I still looked at it this sale and wondered if I should try again.

IlovePond · 21/06/2025 14:09

😹😹😹 @ScottishMouse - my DH said similar when I tried on the pale blue jacket, (currently in the sale), at a sample sale! I wish I had ignored him as it was really nice and only £40! I now have the green instead, and, tbf, it’s a much better colour on me!

MiracleToast · 21/06/2025 14:11

@ScottishMouse oh no, I hope I haven’t gotten toasty delusion and I too am looking like an escapee! 😂

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2025 14:20

With the right skin tone I think it looks beautiful @MiracleToast. I keep trying on this kind of colour in hope, but I have to accept it is not for me.
@IlovePond sometimes I think it is best not to ask for opinions from family. I recently tried the long linen cotton tank and my dh asked “is that new? Do you like it?” which I knew meant he did not. I sent it back, not because of that comment alone, but it certainly didn’t help.

ToastCosILoveIt · 21/06/2025 14:36

Thank you for the new thread @IlovePond

I had a three item sale delivery this am, the second of three orders. The Washi Print Linen Cotton dress is a keeper. I hadn’t appreciated the two wide pleats, one each to the front and back which the ties can pull in or out. I sized down to a 10, and thank goodness as it is plenty big enough. It’s lovely fabric and will be a pleasure to wear.

I like the Edo Stripe Wrap Skirt more than I thought I would, but I’m a bit undecided. I think it’s a winter skirt with a neat wool cardigan. Size 12 is true to size. It’s much heavier and structured than it looks on line.

The Buttoned Organic Cotten dress is austere but none the worse for it. I like how they style it with the skirt (which I have) so I need to try it in several ways to see if it can work.

My first order is almost all doing back. I’ll post about it later as I’m out at the moment.

IlovePond · 21/06/2025 14:37

I think you’re right @ScottishMouse - I usually ignore my DH, but he got me at a weak moment 😹

I’m sure it looks lovely @MiracleToast - do you fancy posting a pic?

Thanks @IlovePond for the new thread!

@Primrosespaw I’m going to try the sunglasses then, the style does seem rather classic. I also quite like the look of one of the new Monokel styles from this season, but I see the Cubitts ones are polarised, so that’s much better.

Stoic123 · 21/06/2025 14:54

@MiracleToast - repeat response - I returned the red version today as colour didn't suit but then bought the navy one (this season) instead - as I loved the shape so much. It's going to be really versatile.

Stoic123 · 21/06/2025 14:54

Thanks for new thread @IlovePond

MiracleToast · 21/06/2025 14:57

@Stoic123 absolutely agree, the navy will be so versatile. I hadn’t actually spotted it but will go and look it up now!

Snowyowl78 · 21/06/2025 16:15

@ScottishMouse have you tried Birkenstock Tulum? They have an adjustable back strap and are suede which I find more comfortable than the leather Birkenstocks. Also they are available in regular and narrow. I walk all day in them.

MiracleToast · 21/06/2025 16:31

@ScottishMouse i recall you mentioning a shop in Glasgow thats got nice clothing? Would you mind sharing the name? I’m finally thinking about a long overdue haircut and thought I could make a day of it

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2025 16:36

@MiracleToast it’s called InHoos and is on Great Western Road. I haven’t been (though I have been to their home accessories shop previously - also on Great Western Road), but noticed on IG that they have started stocking clothing and the brands looked interesting. Maybe have a look at their IG account and see what you think. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for a wasted trip!

MiracleToast · 21/06/2025 16:51

Thanks @ScottishMouse i will check them out. Always nice to find new unique places xx

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2025 17:04

Do report back if you go there @MiracleToast

faustina · 21/06/2025 18:01

Thanks for the new thread @IlovePond - so hot here!

MsDastardley · 21/06/2025 19:06

My sale order has been very modest. I bought the denim wrap skirt, but it is ridiculously small. Also got the Gia shirt in rust and navy, will probably keep.

I ordered a pair of the Good News trainers for my daughter as description implies they are vegan with faux suede. However after checking them out on manufacturers website not convinced about that. All their current styles are using recycled suede. Received them yesterday, and the suede does look very realistic. There are no labels to be seen on shoe or box, so no clearer. They have gone back as can’t risk passing them off as vegan.

I do think Toast is missing a trick with the vegan market. They hardly ever stock vegan friendly footwear or knitwear. Surely good quality cotton knitwear would sell…

My daughter has just started her first permanent professional role and she struggles with footwear. She has Solovair boots and Dr Marten sandals (which have broken her feet). Recommendations for ethical and slightly fashionable vegan footwear welcome.

After seeing a post here I am going to order the green check dress. My bra will probably be on show, but who cares. Could maybe wear with a vest top.

ToastCosILoveIt · 21/06/2025 19:38

I was in the Marylebone store yesterday. I hadn’t intended to be there but was within less than a mile so it seemed rude not to visit 😎. I wanted to try on a few things, mostly the pleated cotton linen dress in both the cardinal red and the mid blue, and the pen and ink dress (I already have the shirt but as curious about the dress). Staff were super helpful, the shop looked beautiful and the verdict on a few pieces is below.

Well, I love the pleated cotton linen dresses: the fabric is substantial (but in a good way) and the fit for me in a standard size high street 12 was to go down a size to a 10. I turned the hem back on the sleeves to slightly shorten and they feel and look lovely. I couldn’t decide between the two (I had gone in with the red in mind) so ended up with both and will take one back.

The pen and ink dress in a small was plenty big enough and looks lovely on but as I have the shirt (which will be more adaptable for my life), I put it back on the hanger.

I tried the garment dyed linen top on in lilac (size small, it comes up big) but the colour completely washed me out, although it felt lovely. Ditto a dropped waist pink dress that appears to have disappeared from the website (it is still on there when shown with the turtle nasturtium bag).

They also had a size medium pleated raised strip cotton skirt in french blue in store too. I already have the warm olive version. It is a lovely skirt but I don’t need another one.

I tried on the Oxford cotton oversized long shirt as it looked great on the hanger but I found the cut of it quite boring when on. I also tried on the garment dyed cotton linen neat jacket in parchment. The size 10 was just a bit too neat when done up, the 12 much more roomy and not giving the lovely look on the website.

I threw a pair of Vibae open sandals on in tan as I was passing them. They looked cool and they would work for me if I wasn’t doing too many steps in them, otherwise I need a back for my shoes.

One of the assistants said she as sending some clothes back out of the store as they were making way for an early autumn drop which will come soon!

IlovePond · 21/06/2025 22:01

Those pleated dresses sound lovely @ToastCosILoveIt - thanks for the report.
