I was in the Marylebone store yesterday. I hadn’t intended to be there but was within less than a mile so it seemed rude not to visit 😎. I wanted to try on a few things, mostly the pleated cotton linen dress in both the cardinal red and the mid blue, and the pen and ink dress (I already have the shirt but as curious about the dress). Staff were super helpful, the shop looked beautiful and the verdict on a few pieces is below.
Well, I love the pleated cotton linen dresses: the fabric is substantial (but in a good way) and the fit for me in a standard size high street 12 was to go down a size to a 10. I turned the hem back on the sleeves to slightly shorten and they feel and look lovely. I couldn’t decide between the two (I had gone in with the red in mind) so ended up with both and will take one back.
The pen and ink dress in a small was plenty big enough and looks lovely on but as I have the shirt (which will be more adaptable for my life), I put it back on the hanger.
I tried the garment dyed linen top on in lilac (size small, it comes up big) but the colour completely washed me out, although it felt lovely. Ditto a dropped waist pink dress that appears to have disappeared from the website (it is still on there when shown with the turtle nasturtium bag).
They also had a size medium pleated raised strip cotton skirt in french blue in store too. I already have the warm olive version. It is a lovely skirt but I don’t need another one.
I tried on the Oxford cotton oversized long shirt as it looked great on the hanger but I found the cut of it quite boring when on. I also tried on the garment dyed cotton linen neat jacket in parchment. The size 10 was just a bit too neat when done up, the 12 much more roomy and not giving the lovely look on the website.
I threw a pair of Vibae open sandals on in tan as I was passing them. They looked cool and they would work for me if I wasn’t doing too many steps in them, otherwise I need a back for my shoes.
One of the assistants said she as sending some clothes back out of the store as they were making way for an early autumn drop which will come soon!
