@ToastCosILoveIt is that the dress I , too, have bought but in navy. I am interested to see how you style it. I am currently debating whether or not I need it in my wardrobe.
I think for me it would have to be as a coat, I tried it over skirts and wide legged crops yesterday and like the effect. But I feel quite ‘dressed’ if you know what I mean. I’m very conscious so many people dress so casually now and I’m retired so wonder if my wearing opportunities would be limited. I also tried it on its own with the belt and a pair of heavy Mary Jane’s (Cos) . It looked really lovely I think but again not my lifestyle possibly. Too dark and formal for a wedding, maybe good for a funeral 😬 more likely possibility. But it’s quite flattering and I expected it to look like a sack with the belt. I bought the 10 and have a bust and it is an excellent fit. Usually I need a 12 with a bottom.

@Countmeout , I propose earring it belted with DMs to work, perhaps with a Toast scarf at the neck or an interesting (bigger( necklace. At weekends I can see myself wearing it with wide cropped jeans and a tee, dress buttoned half way to allow the jeans to show through. I wish it had belt loops so that I could use the belt to tie it at the back and so pull the front slightly back when I wear it like this.

I think it might work well too as an indoor coat over a tee shirt dress or short sleeved plainer dress. I agree it is very oversized, I tried the 12 on in store when it came out and it was huge. Even the 10 is roomy. Maybe it would also look good with a wider leather belt to cinch it in. I have the navy and the green but then I bought the navy and green matching skirts and have got so much wear out of them.

@ToastCosILoveIt i tried the tessellated cardigan a while back. I thought it would be a great easy style, but it felt cheap and horrible, and the arm seams were bulky and irritating. I really couldn’t believe the quality, especially for the price. Shame, as it could have been great.

Yes, for me the cardigan didn’t quite work. I have a grey cropped and buttonless cardigan from Toast from several years ago and the cut and quality is so superior. @AmethystMoonShine I hope you can make yours work. I just couldn’t get over the feeling of quality when I picked it up but it does look great in the pictures which is what drew me to it, and some of the reviews do sing its praises.

ToastCosILoveIt · 24/06/2025 08:10

@Sunnydaysarehereonceagain , I had one of the kantha coats in my basket and was very tempted, but have taken it back out again :)

ToastCosILoveIt · 24/06/2025 08:18

On an unrelated note (and referencing my user name), has anyone reignited their love for Cos? I thought styling and quality really dipped for a couple of years but it seems to have found its way again, particularly around trousers and jeans. I have bought some lovely linen culottes from there (length more like cropped trousers), ditto some faint striped seersucker culottes and I have a pair of the twine barrel legged jeans on their way to me which had completely sold out but which have just restocked. Here they are, they look like a super good cut but we will see.

@ToastCosILoveIt is that the light grey alpaca mix cardi with the cable stitch down the arms? If so, I have that and love it too.

Yes, that is the one @ScottishMouse . It’s great isn’t it.

ScottishMouse · 24/06/2025 08:24

So great @ToastCosILoveIt, although I noticed I hardly reached for it last winter. I don’t seem to have that much that it goes well with.

ToastCosILoveIt · 24/06/2025 08:26

I also bought this from Cos. If you are looking for a sculptural black dress that fits like a dream and skims not clings, this is it. https://www.cos.com/en-gb/women/womenswear/dresses/mididresses/product/sculpted-cotton-midi-dress-black-1275075001 I was tempted by the brown one too but it isn’t a colour that does me any favours. The black one sold out but has come back in again. The downside to Cos is that their delivery is around about a week, sometimes more. They must come direct from Sweden, that is the only explanation I can think of

I find it good over a plainer dress, or with wide jeans and a white tee.

Sunnydaysarehereonceagain · 24/06/2025 08:36

@ToastCosILoveIt I might well live to regret not taking the kantha coat out of my basket too 🤣

ToastCosILoveIt · 24/06/2025 08:40

@Sunnydaysarehereonceagain , I already have this one and expected to wear it out but I haven’t found myself doing so. Perhaps in winter it will come out with jeans and a tee. I bought it in the last sale and it is beautiful.

ShrankLastWinter · 24/06/2025 09:27

Exciting sale box arrived here!

Yep:

Wave Stripe Knitted Top (orange) - love and am already wearing. L for 14, possibly M for a smaller 14, since I have wide shoulders and hips.

Side Pocket Garment Dyed Linen Trousers - great, got two colours, need some summer weather. M for 14.

Half Placket Cotton Linen Tee - boring but nice, got two colours, will be useful. L for 14.

Cotton Poplin Stripe Dress | Celtic Blue - I had this in 18 and liked it, so got the 14 now. It's a great colour. Again, need summer weather.

Fitted Half Sleeve Tee | Lichen - lovely, will be v useful for layering but also looks nice by itself. L for 14.

Nah:

Hemp Cotton Canvas Trousers - bought 14 but too much fabric around thighs, just big and weird on me

Tessellated Textured Easy Cardigan | Darkest Navy - I actually quite liked it, but it made me look massive, hid waist.

Buttoned Organic Cotton Dress | Navy - M for 14. Dithered because from some angles it looked great, but it didn't sing on me with or without the belt. Also it fits the same sartorial niche for me as the navy Franca, which suits me better.

Countmeout · 24/06/2025 09:28

I returned it @ToastCosILoveIt . I couldn’t see myself reaching for it although as you describe wearing it is exactly how I thought it would work. I still felt too ‘dressed’

I can’t wait to see which Kanthas you all get.
I have a full length one in greens and ochre but it almost got worn out but not quite. It looks great with jeans and a T. I get more wear out of my short one in reds and the over dyed one ( from reworn) the latter has been particularly useful.

I am waiting on the alternative sizes in the French blue cord dress and the tie poplin dress. If they’re good I’ll keep both so that’s probably enough.

faustina · 24/06/2025 10:29

@ToastCosILoveIt - I really like those jeans you've ordered, though I couldn't make them work (too short). Agree about the delivery time for Cos - it takes forever!

ToastCosILoveIt · 24/06/2025 10:32

@faustina , were you too short or where the jeans?! I’m 165cm and hoping they’ll look like the photo on me!

faustina · 24/06/2025 10:36

@ToastCosILoveIt I'm 5'4 but maybe you have long legs? I haven't tried those barrel legs but have tried others and they're all way too long for me, so the lovely bit at the bottom of the leg which makes them barrel gets lost and they just look stupid on me

I am only 5ft 5 so let’s see if that extra inch makes the difference! I don’t think I have long legs, no, pretty standard I would say but Cos does tend to fit me off of the rail.

IlovePond · 24/06/2025 13:27

Please let me know how you find the coat @Sunnydaysarehereonceagain - I dithered over the red and now it’s OOS!

Toast have been very quick with my two sale order refunds, (just as well as the fridge has just broken, everything has gone off and I have had to order an emergency replacement!)

Sunnydaysarehereonceagain · 24/06/2025 16:05

@IlovePond wil” definitely report back on the kantha coat. I had the despatch email earlier today, so Toast are definitely on the ball with getting the orders out

AFingerofFudge · 24/06/2025 16:12

@ToastCosILoveIti really like that black Cos dress but I can’t work out what type of material it is! Does it have some stretch in it or is it stiff cotton?

It has stretch and yet holds its shape! It’s a delight to wear and looks great.

OftenOrange · 24/06/2025 16:37

I love the Kantha coats and am also looking forward to debriefing on those !
I have the grey and white jacket and wear it over white linen and jeans .
They really are pieces for life and I’m never going to part with it.

@ToastCosILoveIt The black dress is divine, I’m so tempted but these days if it’s too dressy for my evening class and jaunts to Kew Gardens I know I shan’t get much wear from it .

ellequick · 24/06/2025 17:53

Hi, I hope it’s ok for a lurker to pop up here and ask a question?! I wondered if any of you have the Dash Stitched Cotton Tie Vest?
It is tempting me a bit because the reviews are so good, but I’m not keen on the styling in the photos. Would love to hear if anyone has tried it!This one

Dash Stitched Cotton Tie Vest | Soft Black

Primrosespaw · 24/06/2025 20:43

@ellequick yes I have the vest. I bought in Feb. I haven’t worn is loads, but have enjoyed it when I have. The last time I wore it was over a chocolate brown long crepe silk dress i had bought from marks and spencer. It is strappy and skimming. I then added an oversized, indigo denim shirt from the JW Anderson collection, Uniqlo. I am not keen on Toast styling of the piece, but have found my own way with it. It is an unusual piece to pull out every now and again rather than a frequent wear for me.
