Snag tights - WTF???

Hi everyone

I posted on this board asking about an outfit and someone suggested I should buy some coloured tights from Snag.

I've just been onto their website and it's like a shop for fetishists. Some seriously weird stuff.

I'm not uptight or a prude, but I honestly thought this was a shop selling tights. I've seen a few ads pop up on FB showing different coloured tights. But there were loads of photos of other stuff which was outside the norm.

I appreciate that there's probably a continuum in underwear with opaque 80 Denier tights at one end and fetish stuff at the other, but wouldn't it make more sense to have these as two separate businesses? Or am I just being precious?

I see more sexualised items in high end lingerie stores. Are you sure you're not letting your opinion be coloured by bias about plus sized models, brightly coloured hair & slightly alternative fashion?

They believe that men can be women so it's a boycott from me. Saying that though, the tights look bloody awful so I wouldn't be a customer anyway.

If you want an alternative for coloured tights, you could look at Popsy Clothing. They have a big range of high denier coloured tights.

This! I manage to look on the website every few months without coming across "seriously weird stuff" (not that I've seen anything seriously weird on there when I've looked!) I just head straight to their tights section.

Personally I love the fit of snag tights, they make them for all shapes and sizes, and they sell all colours. If you want a pair of normal black tights you can get them.

I switched to Popsy tights as I agree I don't want to buy from a company that thinks men can become women. Popsy have a good range of sizes (I'm 5ft and it's usually impossible) and are comfy on the waistband.

It's not the tights that are the issue! It's the weird "body harnesses" etc.

Body harnesses are fashionable nowadays. They're hardly "fetish wear".

They can be worn on top of t-shirts, dresses, whatever.

When you search for Snag and go to the landing page, it doesn't land on the Body Harnesses. Why did you choose that from the drop down menu, rather than the "Tights" option, if it's not your thing and it offends you?

A lot of people who wear Snag tights are into alternative fashion. I wore harnesses out to club nights myself in my twenties, I'm not part of any fetish scene.

Those are pretty standard at the moment for "sexy" attire.
I certainly agree it's reflective of the change in pornography over recent years but it doesn't mean that its suggesting (or encouraging) women engaging in hard core sexual practices as standard, more I think that it's the current 'fashion' for sexy lingerie.

Also, snag us openly inclusive of the whole lgbqta+ spectrum and I think things like harnesses are more mainstream in queer culture, for a variety of reasons and not because queer sex must equal fetishism.

The harnesses there (of which i think there are 2?) are pretty tame.

I find their marketing really off putting tbh, I don’t want to see morbidly obese models any more than I want to see anorexic ones. It clearly works for them as a marketing strategy though.

As an aside from the advertising, the quality has gone down recently. 2/3 years ago I really rated them but the last 2 winters every pair I've bought has lost its elasticity after one wash and I've had to revert back to doing a superman so they don't fall down. Pity as when I first bought them they were amazing.

No, from the adverts I've seen on FB I admire their body positivity stance and their use of non-standard models. I'm not exactly model like myself!

I don't know why I feel very uncomfortable with the site. I'm probably just very old!

For context, I dress pretty conservatively and only buy their tights in black. I think alternative fashion is brilliant, it's just not my personal style.
I can understand it might be a bit jarring to someone who may also dress fairly traditionally / classicly to view their website but that's just surprise of the unexpected.

Fact is snag tights are the only brand of god knows how many I've tried which don't have the dreaded crotch slip and are seemingly impervious to ladders. They're warm, comfortable and last for years, great quality and reasonably priced.

Same. I rarely wear tights but would probably buy from them again because I've found them to be really good quality.

Their marketing makes me cringe, but I don't suppose I'm their target audience - I'm middle aged and a conventional size and don't have an interesting identity.

You sound like you'd be better off in M&S........

@CarCrashLifes very probably! Except I hate their tights, they start rolling down after about an hour of wearing them. I was also wanting a bright colour.
