Thanks @IlovePond

@PeonyBlush10 that is a beautiful coat. A much more useful shape than the current women’s offering.

The two print dresses in the live were beautiful I thought. I definitely don’t need a dress but these were just so lovely on (helped by the slim model obviously) .

PeonyBlush10 · 09/02/2025 09:18

It is a lovey shape @Countmeout and not as voluminous as it looks on the model.

For anyone interested in sizing, I am usually a 12 (a large 12 atm), the medium was enormous. The small had just the right amount of oversize and slouch but I had to roll up the sleeves which looks lovely with the black inside lining cuffs. The XS worked too but the fabric dragged slightly across my bust/chest area when fastened, so I settled on the small. I’m 5 ft 7 and the hem lands halfway down my calves. It’s great quality but also fairly light weight in a good way. I was very surprised at how light and small the package was when it arrived (I ended up ordering it online rather than buying in store so I could think about it first).

ScottishMouse · 09/02/2025 10:52

@PeonyBlush10 i love that coat. I saw it in store recently and would have tried it if it were a different colour. The colour is beautiful, but not for me.
I think the menswear pieces (particular jackets/coats are worth a look, I find they can be nicer than the women’s versions sometimes. I was told in the Edinburgh store not that long ago that a lot of women shop from the menswear collection, and that Toast introduced a smaller menswear size a couple of seasons ago for this reason. I am short, so length can be an issue, but with certain styles it doesn’t matter so much.

PeonyBlush10 · 09/02/2025 11:24

@ScottishMouse i agree. The shop assistant in my local store wears a lot of the menswear range and she looks fab. I had gone in to look at the parka in seaweed but was quickly diverted to the trench in rye.

@PeonyBlush10 - that coat is beautiful! I love slightly oversized waxed cotton coats. I bought the Doherty one from Plumo a few months ago (it also came in a tiny little package) and the other day I noticed YMC have a very tempting unisex version just out:

ToastCosILoveIt · 09/02/2025 13:54

Joining the wax cotton coat love, my boss at work has the Plumo one and it looks way better in person than it does on the website. Now eyeing the men’s Toast one and the YMC one. I have a Barbour one produced in collaboration with Margaret Howell which I love. It is navy but would love one in the green colourway.

PeonyBlush10 · 09/02/2025 17:53

@faustina and @ToastCosILoveIt I was also so tempted by the Plumo Doherty. I love it in the olive colourway, but didn’t go for it in the end. It’s a bestseller. Interesting you say it looks better in real life.

PeonyBlush10 · 09/02/2025 17:55

Oh dear the YMC is also very lovely.

faustina · 09/02/2025 18:51

@PeonyBlush10 - it really is in't it! (also extremely £££).

If anyone does buy the Doherty coat, do look at the label because however creased it gets YOU MUST NOT STEAM IT. It makes alarming looking marks which luckily disappear quite soon, but I didn't realise that at the time. Equally luckily, I don't mind the creases at all and I don't think it detracts from the look

ToastCosILoveIt · 09/02/2025 20:19

@faustina , you have the Doherty? Serious coat envy here 😍

mizu · 09/02/2025 20:30

Yes, that Plumo coat is beautiful. I think I have a screenshot of it somewhere on my phone that I took a while back last year.

mizu · 09/02/2025 20:33

@faustina would you mind telling us what size you got and what size you are in TOAST etc ......

faustina · 09/02/2025 20:38

@mizu I got the xs/s and it's a good fit except there's maybe a little straining of the buttons if I wear a really chunky jumper underneath. I think the measurements were on the website which was helpful

faustina · 09/02/2025 20:40

... sorry forgot to compare with Toast sizes. Honestly I no longer know what my toast size is! The last shirt I bought was a small, and bottoms have been either xs or small

OrangeyLemon · 10/02/2025 12:57

I wish no one had mentioned the Plumo coat. I've googled it and now I want it!

SaffyRosie · 10/02/2025 13:13

I can't say how much I hate the live styling events.

The models just look awful in the clothes and as for the rubbish that the presenters spout don't get me started. How to make people look shorter and fatter.

They obviously have heard of the ⅓ ⅔ rule for making the models look less frumpy/plump.

The awful styling puts me off the clothes which is a good thing as I think Toast are a big rip off now.

Lots of summer loveliness appearing at Brora, including this fabulous linen trench coat (to continue the coat temptations :).

@Stravaig that linen coat is a dream. I want it but very spendy for me.

faustina · 10/02/2025 17:33

Oh that is lovely @Stravaig !

Stravaig · 10/02/2025 19:48

@Primrosespaw @faustina I thought it might appeal to Toasties! There's something special there (which I can't seem to describe :).

Brackenfield · 11/02/2025 10:46

Wondering if anyone has had similar experience:

Bought a pair of linen trousers a few months back, only wore them for the first time on holiday this month and the inside seam is coming apart on the leg. I'm well outside of the returns period but emailed them pics etc anyway and they've offered either a 15% refund or return the item for a manufacturing flaw check and the possibility of full refund depending on their assessment. Anyone have any experience of this/did you get full refund? Ive had previous trousers for years and no issues and I genuinely haven't snagged them or even washed them yet but not sure what their process?

Snowyowl78 · 11/02/2025 18:16

Did anyone get the navy boiled wool short coat in navy in the sale? (Or before)? I have just ordered it from Uniform Research, is quite heavily discounted and you can get another 15% off. What’s it like with not having a proper collar and what’s it like for size? Thanks!

Snowyowl78 · 11/02/2025 18:17

@Brackenfield i think you’ll be ok. I returned a tshirt which I’d had a while as it grew a hole and it was no problem. Or you could get the 15% and take it to a Toast store for a free repair?
