@Theteapotsbrokenspout That'd do it! Tricksy cloud cover.

faustina · 12/02/2025 20:02

@Stravaig curls are very forgiving with mistakes though - don't you think? No-one will ever know you've buggered up what should be a straight line. Fingers crossed it seems better when you wake up tomorrow!

I'm hanging on for the bib review! It reminds me a little of something Japanese

Stravaig · 12/02/2025 21:53

@faustina True! On both forgiveness of curls and japanese vibe of bib :)

Stravaig · 12/02/2025 21:58

It's very voluminous, but I'm smitten with the cross-stitch embroidery on this shirt! (non Toast).

@Stravaig 😹I frequently cut my own fringe - with variable results - so I can empathise !

I like that shirt too - I have a similar one from Zara - years old, when the quality of materials was better. I don’t know if it survived my last attempt to wash it - must dig it out to see!

That’s an interesting review…

My netball bib finally put in an appearance towards the end of play last night. Wasn’t too sure when I first put it on, but in the grey light of today, it’s actually grown on me.

Beautifully lined it feels quite substantial. Easy pull over the head design, there’s a hidden button fastening on one side of the neck to widen it if needed. Hangs nicely and comes further down the body on me than on the Toast model. Having said that, I do have quite a short body and the ties come at very slightly above my waistline. I’m also not particularly large of bust either, being 34B. Not sure I would wear it untied,
but clinched in, I can see myself wearing it. I think it’s a keeper, but my only reservation is that it’s such a ‘marmite’ item that, knowing my luck, it will probably appear greatly reduced in the end of season sale 🤣. Loving the Kindred gift 😍. Sorry for poor pics, but they give a vague idea, I hope

Apparently my pics are under review, but should appear later 🤞

VivienneDelacroix · 13/02/2025 15:41

That looks so lovely @Sunnydaysarehereonceagain .

TosstTastic · 13/02/2025 16:31

Dammit, I'm going to have to try it next time I'm near a shop.
It's a much better length on you @Sunnydaysarehereonceagain than on the unbelievably tall models.

Stravaig · 13/02/2025 16:47

@Sunnydaysarehereonceagain How wonderful - it's got totally different proportions on you! A chic alternative to a waistcoat or gilet.

Stoic123 · 13/02/2025 17:32

@Sunnydaysarehereonceagain - it is a gorgeous piece and looks great on you.

Countmeout · 13/02/2025 18:11

Yes @Sunnydaysarehereonceagain looks much more wearable item than we first thought. It’s a very good fit on you.

That shirt sent me over to Sahara @Stravaig . There’s a few lovely things. Thanks for highlighting it.

IlovePond · 13/02/2025 18:30

Thank you everyone, your comments re the bib have persuaded me that I should keep it 😊

Stravaig · 13/02/2025 20:46

@Countmeout Always happy to share the love of nice things :)

Stravaig · 13/02/2025 20:51

@Sunnydaysarehereonceagain You know what this means ...

O Captain our très chic Capitaine (skips off giggling)

OftenOrange · 14/02/2025 11:48

@Sunnydaysarehereonceagain Congratulations, it is transformed on you into a very wearable and special piece .

@IlovePond My dispatch mail shows that the Kindred gift is included, have you been sent one yet ?

I’ve suddenly switched on to the pleated skirt in Duffel Green after initially thinking it was too school uniformish. Most of my jumpers and tops are green or some shade of rusty orange , so I’m wondering how those who have the skirt have been wearing it please !

SaffyRosie · 14/02/2025 16:35

Can anybody feedback on the Pleated Floating Print Shirt Dress please?

I particularly interested in how it would look on a 5ft10 pear shape. Size 12/14 top and 14/16 bottom.

If you are a pear shape I would be grateful for a photo or two of you wearing it.

Also I'm trying to work out if it would suit my colouring. I've been classified as a soft summer.

Thanks for any advice given.

IlovePond · 14/02/2025 16:41

Hi @OftenOrange - I got a belated order confirmation and it says the Kindred gift is included - hurray!

I like the look of that skirt in green myself, but I know the pleats wouldn’t work for me 😿

OP posts:
Popplebop · 14/02/2025 18:04

@OftenOrange i have the skirt in the blue. So far i have only worn it with tights/boots and a neat fitting polo & jumper. It also works quite well with a tucked in blouse but I was too chilly and the big fleece I stuck over the top slightly ruined the look 😂. I am quite short and initially felt like there was a lot of material swishing about but actually I love the skirt and it is something I don’t currently have in my winter wardrobe. Looking forward to trying it without loads of layers.

ScottishMouse · 14/02/2025 20:48

@OftenOrange i bought and very nearly kept the skirt in blue. Tbh I am still thinking about it, though it is now sold out in my size and there is no restock notification option (does that mean it won’t be coming back apart from returns?).
I tried it on with lots of tops and everything worked well - neat and not so neat sweaters, shirts, tshirts. I think it is a real all rounder and kind of wish I had kept it. Those who have it - have you washed it and was it a b**ch to iron? That was the main reason I returned, it arrived so creased and I thought it would take more maintenance than I have in me.
I had a quiet afternoon and found myself on instagram browsing Toast posts and feeling the need to have a (second) look at many of the SS things - the striped smock (I felt a little clownish in it, but others look great in it), the pleated skirt (see above), the blue cotton linen canvas coat (not the best colour for me, but looks fab on others). I should probably unfollow all the Toast shops!

OftenOrange · 14/02/2025 21:55

@Popplebop @ScottishMouse Many thanks for your thoughts on the skirt .
I’m worried it may not get much wear, even my treasured embroidered one from last year doesn’t get worn much .

This season my go to has been the greenish brown Annie cords , and thought the skirt would have a similar level of quirky/ stylish on a good day !

I think I’ll order it to see , do you find that the waist elastic is tight,or is it a passive fit which I prefer ?

mizu · 15/02/2025 08:50

@SaffyRosie no advice, sorry but I will definitely be trying on that dress next time I go into a TOAST shop. I love a shirt dress.

I'm currently in Oman - travelling alone 😁 but visiting an old Omani friend here soon - and very much appreciating my TOAST summer dresses which are perfect here for coverage and airiness ☀️

OftenOrange · 15/02/2025 13:20

The boiler suit arrived with the cute enamel splatter bowl.
I know it’s quite big on me , so got DH to go some photos, the dreaded nappy butt seems to be avoided but it’s quite roomy.
On comparing with the website I see there’s a pocket missing on the back which I think looks odd .
I’m going to enquire whether the single pocket is an aberration or maybe that the model prototype was altered for production.
It’s expensive and I already have a beater boiler suit so I want this to be suitable for outings , what do you think ?🤔
PS Love the barrel legs !

OrangeyLemon · 15/02/2025 15:56

I think the boiler suit looks great on you @OftenOrange! I must try on some barrel legs..
