Here’s a new thread!

V neck dress is Rooibus Red arrived. Going back as the colour is too far on the orange side of reddy-orange for me. This colour always seems to photograph more vibrantly than it looks in real life.

I love the style so might treat myself to this season's navy version.

ScottishMouse · 20/06/2025 14:28

@Stoic123 the neckline is pretty much the same on me as the model. It isn’t that tight, I took my usual size 12, but it isn’t particularly loose. I am quite busty and find it looks fine. Maybe worth a try?

Oh that caught us out!!

Ordered the Washi print dress in XS and S based on the reviews and measurements
Also the Iku check trousers, these completely passed me by before
Also the Scattered kite print nightie

I have a parcel coming tomorrow with the Indigo Baya shirt , the ecru pleated long shorts and 2 nightdresses

Will have to be firm about what I keep.

I'm really hopeful for the knee length shorts, as a non knee exposer I love the style and am delighted they are back "in"
I recently bought several pairs elsewhere and they are great for cycling in

Sale order arrived

Washi print dress is lovely but the small was too big and had a nice pattern arrangement and the xsmall (!) had a dud pattern arrangement but fitted nicely.
Have ordered 2 more xsmall hoping to get a nice one.

The Iku trousers -pockets stuck out and made my hips look enormous-going back.

The Scattered kite print nightie -lovely.

Off to send back both my parcels !

IlovePond · 20/06/2025 15:24

I quite fancy that nightie @Poplinskirt - thanks for the feedback. I really shouldn’t buy any more nightwear, but as I have returned most of my orders if that nightie comes back in stock, I may succumb.

First parcel as folllows
Greegage sleeveless stripey dress, keeping and worn today to visit Toast with returns
Cornflower blue Birkenstocks worn with above , not my usual choice but growing on me
Catrin shirt, should have ordered XS , but sold out so may keep.
The style is beautiful but I know it will be high maintenance and will I ever bother with the faff?

Returned
Steve Mono black ankle straps. 39 was sold out and unfortunately 38 too s all.
Really wish I’d bought full price ….
Olive crinkle sleeveless dress , as mentioned too heavy for Summer and too big

ScottishMouse · 20/06/2025 18:14

Non-Toast question, but as Birkenstocks have just been mentioned…
I have very tricky feet - wide, and problems with the movement in my toes. Sandals are so tricky. I’m not looking for suggestions as I have tried everything I can find that I like. Best are Tevas, but they’re not pretty. I also can’t wear nail polish so can’t even pretty up my feet. I tried some Birkenstock Mayaris last week. I can’t usually wear something without a strap at the heel because my toes don’t keep them on very well, but these seemed pretty good in that regard. But the only Birkenstocks I have had before had the soft footbed and the Mayari don’t seem to come in that. I have read varying reports of comfort/breaking in. They did feel very hard and unforgiving. What can you Birkenstock wearers tell me about the harder footbed….will they be too much for my tricky feet? Thanks.

@ScottishMouse , I had an old pair of Mayari Birkies but they didn’t have the hard foot bed so I can’t really comment. I do like how they look and they were comfortable from a strap perspective.

I do have a hard footbed large buckle sliders from Birkenstock but I am about to put them on Vinted as I think they look great but I can’t really wear them as I struggle to keep them on, resulting in ‘toe gripping’.

Have you tried FitFlop for good, cooler looking sandals? I have a dodgy left foot (hallus flexis rigidus) and I found these ones good, although I appreciate they have an air of the Tevi about them. https://www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/neo-d-hyker-xt-water-resistant-adjustable-walking-sandals-p-IB9#399

Speaking of Tevi, I bought to pairs of Tevi sandals from Toast a few years ago, maybe 10-12 years. They were their traditional two strap sandals but they were in leather not cloth, a black pair and a beige pair. I still have them and wear them :)

I have lots to write about as most of my (first) sales delivery is going back, two more deliveries to come (😔) plus I visited the Marylebone store this am and made a few purchases, but I am going to wait for the new thread 😊

faustina · 20/06/2025 19:26

Please do start the next thread @IlovePond - it always takes forever to load when it gets too long.

@ScottishMouse I have a pair of the hard sole Boston clogs and they are REALLY hard. I wore them once on a shopping trip to London and ended up sitting on a chair at Boots while I covered all the blisters on my soles. They're ok for short walks but not a day out. Echoing @ToastCosILoveIt Fitflop are brilliant and I can walk for miles in them. I have a really nice pair of their fisherman sandals in tan

Stoic123 · 20/06/2025 19:29

@ScottishMouse I have Mayaris (bought last summer) and I find them comfortable to wear (bunion/toe problems). I don't tend to wear them for long walks (nothing more than about 40 mins) so might not be fully tested. Like all Birkies, they are getting more comfortable over time.

ScottishMouse · 20/06/2025 19:38

Thanks for the Birkenstock info peeps. I will have a look at Fitflop options, I hadn’t considered them. I have little patience for breaking in shoes as my feet already cause me a lot of pain, so the Mayari might be out. I would have loved the Vibae sandals at toast to work, I tried them and they felt so comfy, but they were a little too short and a little too narrow sadly.

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2025 08:04

Still thinking about sandals this morning. Has anyone got the open toe Vibae ones and can you comment on how much they stretched? Looking at photos on their IG, maybe the length was actually fine on me, and if they stretch widthways maybe the width would be too. Or maybe worth trying the next size up. I love the look and feel of them, so think I might try again.

Countmeout · 21/06/2025 08:56

I have @ScottishMouse . my normal size was too wide. I sized down which is okay. Not sure how much they’ve stretched. The closed toe ones certainly did but I wore them with socks for the first few months as it was winter.

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2025 09:14

Thanks @Countmeout. I am normally a 38.5 and tried the 38. I might try that again and also the 39. I could try stretching them by wearing with socks at home I guess.

Popplebop · 21/06/2025 09:32

@ScottishMouse - I also have the open toed Vibae in dark brown. I think they do stretch a bit! Bought my advised size 37 and after wearing them for a few days (beautifully comfortable) I do think maybe I should have also tried a 36… difficult when you can’t compare and bought online.

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2025 09:34

Thanks @Popplebop that makes me think I should size down not up. The width of my feet often means I have to size up in shoes, but with sandals then they end up looking silly because you can see the space at the front. I’m going to try them again in store and see.

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2025 09:35

@Popplebop and @Countmeout do you find they stay on without having to grip your toes? My toes won’t happily do this so I usually never buy backless sandals but I feel like if the width is snug these might work.

Popplebop · 21/06/2025 09:36

And my first sale parcel arrived- Catrin shirt is a keeper. Fracap lina sandals going back- they will hurt my toe joints and I haven’t got the energy to wear in another pair of sandals! (I might buy a second full price pair of Vibae instead.)

Popplebop · 21/06/2025 09:38

@ScottishMouse - yes the Vibae stay on I don’t have to grip them (I also hate that). However I think they feel a bit less snug than they did hence me wondering yesterday if I should have tried the size down as well…

Poplinskirt · 21/06/2025 10:02

@IlovePond
Do buy the nightie if it comes back into stock.
It's absolutely gorgeous, soft and light but importantly not see through.
I wore it last night and was cool and comfortable, no idea why it's in the sale other than the pictures don't really do it justice

Sympathies on foot issues @ScottishMouse

I also step out of sliders and have some Sorel ones , I think they were called City Walkers which were sliders with a double strap so they stayed put.

I'm now pondering the cross back dress

Primrosespaw · 21/06/2025 11:42

@CakeAndJazz yes they are by Cubitts. Interestingly, all of their sunglasses are £150 ontheir website, but Toast were selling them for £250 originally. I like them. The fit is similar to wayfarer ray bans. I like the ethics and detail the company seem to put in to their work. I like them and will definitely keep.

Only other sale item I have gone for is the linen cami top in Iris. I bought the red and navy last year and do like them, but had to size up as very tight across the chest like some of Toast.s other dresses and tops with a similar neckline.

mizu · 21/06/2025 11:52

@ScottishMouse you’ve probably already discounted these but they are super comfortable….

@Primrosespaw Cubitts do usually charge more for their collab glasses. They have a collab at the moment and those glasses are priced at £350!
@mizu , thanks - I did look at those but I fancy something a little less casual.

Countmeout · 21/06/2025 12:10

My embarrassingly big sale order arrived

Potential hits.
The cord dress in blue - but it’s too big. Have reordered in a 2x smaller size and praying it works. That was all left. I like that it’s longer than I expected and bought to wear with tights in winter.
Blue cotton poplin shirt dress. The one with the side tie. Have ordered a size up 🙄 just to compare agreed online is so tricky with the sizing. Flattering fit imo.
Pecan cashmere mix cardigan. So soft. I know I will reach for this on repeat in Autumn.

Misses
The orange stripe long sleeve top think it’s a wool mix - too small
The blue striped long sleeve T from previous season. Agreed quite weighty. Just don’t love it. Sizing fine .
Asawa shorts - too dark.
shorts in a russet colour - ordered wrong size . Will keep an eye out for a return.
Batik dress. Too high in the neck and not flattering when tied with the belt.

Undecided.
Navy coat dress. I think I would only wear as a coat . It’s heavy for cotton quite severe. They showed it on the live. Great pockets. Debating whether I’d get enough wear out of it. Has anyone got this and can report how it’s worn?

@ScottishMouse @Popplebop the smaller size isn’t perfect as my right foot is a bit close to the front stitching. But they’ve sort of bedded in to the shape of my foot and I’ve had them on a lot this week as they’re so easy to slip on. I have Birkenstocks but don’t find them particularly comfortable.
