Sainsbury’s jeans 😲

My mate was wearing a lovely pair of barrel leg jeans so I asked her where she got them. Sainsbury’s, she says, £22. So I went and got some for myself. First day out in them today and another woman asked where I got them, said they looked really nice on. And I wore them all day and they’re the same size now as when I put them on (marginally more relaxed but they haven’t grown a couple of sizes like jeans sometimes do).

Very impressed. When did this happen to Sainsbury’s? Are there other gems in the Tu department that I should look out for??

I was in ours today and got these red trainers. They are very comfortable and I’m really pleased with them. They didn’t have much in the way of jeans but I was very tempted by some stonewashed look wide legged joggers and matching sweatshirt which would be a great travel outfit. Lots of reductions as well so will pop in again when I’ve got a bit more time. Loved the look of the new Oti Mabuse fitness wear as well - I’ve always found their gym stuff is great value.

I have the top from the OM exercise wear. I wish I'd got bigger as it comes up short and I'm not that tall.

Ravensperch · 02/02/2025 17:52

Picked up my barrel legs jeans this afternoon. 10R are too big . Length not a problem as looked fine rolled up. If I was taller I think they’d look nicely relaxed but at 5’ they’re sort of engulfing me. Such a shame as they’re gorgeous. I’d have been happy to ay full price for an 8 so I hope they’ll do them next season. I see what you mean about them looking like Cos. They’re thick but soft denim and cut really nicely.

DoughBallss · 02/02/2025 18:15

I have these barrel leg jeans too! Got them in black and loved them so also have them in blue 😂 they look great sized up with a belt

@2025willbemytime That's good to know. I did wonder about that when I held it up against me.

I didn't put it in the dryer but did wonder if it had shrunk. I wore it under a sweatshirt so it was okay and I could just about tuck it in.

Noooo I picked mine up today and they look awful on.

DH started singing hammertime and DS asked me where my lamp is.

What are you wearing them with? Maybe it was my jumper that was wrong.

AlertCat · 02/02/2025 18:40

What shape are you @RitaFromTheRanch ? I’m basically a rectangle and someone else who liked these jeans said above that she has a bigger bottom and hips and likes jeans which accommodate that. My friend who I saw them on in the first place is petite with a waist, and basically a slender wear-anything sort of person, but these reflect her shape.
I like them because my legs are quite shapely and fairly slim proportionate to my torso, which is shaped like a brick with almost no waist, and the jeans add some volume to my legs which balances out the rest of me.

Ah men! I put mine with a slim fit fine knit😀

Ravensperch · 02/02/2025 18:57

RitaFromTheRanch
i think what top your wear on the top with wide or barrel legs depends on your shape and height. Tall and narrow build, either slim fit or shortish relaxed sweatshirt/jumper/T-shirt will look good. Even a longer relaxed sweatshirt or jumper would probably be fine. If your short with either a hourglass or pear shape, then I think you need a more fitted top. Although my tu barrel legs were too big and going back, (I’ve found them online in a lighter denim in my size so 🤞🏻) I would wear them with a slim T shirt or jumper tucked in, belt and trainers or boots.

Rina66 · 02/02/2025 19:05

I wore mine out last night with an elasticated hem wrap style blouse which sits just across my tummy and kitten heel boots....

Could someone link the amazing raincoat? My old one is falling apart 🌧️

It’s now sold out! Mine arrived yesterday. Sadly it is far too big - I ordered the L (allegedly 16-18) and I would say it’s more of a 20+. I knew it was oversized but this is a tad extreme.
Which is a shame as I actually really like it.

But! Depending on your height the petite is still available -

This OP does look like a MN sanctioned brand plug.

I'm a 10 with not much boobs, 5.4 so not too short. I'll try the suggestions. I love how soft they are.

MancMa · 02/02/2025 21:02

@RitaFromTheRanch howling laughing 😂😂. My boyfriend started singing cotton eyed Joe 😂😂 he can piss off hes 62 and though I love him to pieces he’s no style icon .
I love them and I’m keeping them .

Ravensperch · 02/02/2025 21:17

My bf calls me Rosie The Riveter when I wear dungarees. I bloody love them, think they look great and he knows shit . I know if the smaller size barrel ones are keepers, he won’t be a fan. But then im not a fan of a lot of the things he wears either. If you like them keep them and enjoy wearing them.

NormaleKartoffeln · 03/02/2025 08:52

I no longer live near a Sainsbury's and there also isn't one with clothes in the nearest big city to us, but when I could get to them I often checked Tu clothing. It was generally great quality, fitted well and lasted well too. I used to get DS items as well, when he was a pre-teen, and they washed well too.

evtheria · 03/02/2025 10:03

@RitaFromTheRanch Agreed with @Ravensperch, ignore the comments Grin They clearly don't understand FASHION. I have a fantastic boiler suit that, though quite fitted and visibly not practical, always has my DP asking if I'm off to sort the plumbing out, etc. Thinking of wearing it to his funeral...

Ravensperch · 03/02/2025 12:34

evtheria I have a boilersuit that I love too. Pretty fitted and being short it makes me look taller too . Bf is baffled by it. But I think he’s baffled by anything that strays from straight leg jeans, a jumper or sweatshirt or a smart dress or trousers. Definitely keep your boilersuit to wear at DPs funeral 😀

AllRightNowt · 03/02/2025 12:36

I've bought Sainsbury's jeans since they first started selling clothes. They are always a good fit, although need trying as the sizes can be inconsistent, they last well too. My knickers are always from there and I have two crop top bras which are my most worn items, wish I'd bought more of them!

teawamutu · 03/02/2025 19:03

Anyone else had their order delayed? My last-Thursday order still showing as accepted, should have been in yesterday but it isn't and I've had no updates.

Wondering if something is out of stock.

bridgetreilly · 03/02/2025 19:36

Sainsbury’s clothes can be excellent. I have several summer dresses which always get complimented. I have to do my main shopping elsewhere otherwise I’d be buying clothes every week.

Yeah - I bought a second pair of jeans in a smaller size (to future proof as currently losing weight). The order got accepted - they were half price as well as £11! - then 2 days later they emailed to say sorry, there was a problem and we’ve cancelled your order. 😲

This is what I'm worried about. Damn.
