Sainsbury’s jeans 😲

My mate was wearing a lovely pair of barrel leg jeans so I asked her where she got them. Sainsbury’s, she says, £22. So I went and got some for myself. First day out in them today and another woman asked where I got them, said they looked really nice on. And I wore them all day and they’re the same size now as when I put them on (marginally more relaxed but they haven’t grown a couple of sizes like jeans sometimes do).

Very impressed. When did this happen to Sainsbury’s? Are there other gems in the Tu department that I should look out for??

Also popped into Sainsbury’s and picked up two pairs of these jeans today, thank you OP! Still slightly undecided whether I will keep them or not. 15yo DD says they are ‘fattening’ and 12yo DD really likes them. I think I do like them but they are quite a departure from what I’m used to (skinny jeans). I could use a departure though frankly, so perhaps I will be brave and stick with them.

I also liked the look of some of their other styles of jeans, but with no changing rooms available to use (as lamented above), I didn’t want to pick up multiple pairs of jeans to try at home and return. I’ll already be returning at least one pair as I bought two different sizes to try. (The smaller size fits best as I think they come up a little generously).

Anyway, it was fun to go and see if I could get in on this trend and I was lucky, thank you! I may or may not have picked up a pair of plain white sneaker and a lovely, soft jumper in a kind of tennis sweater style. DD2 says it’s giving Taylor Swift which is a compliment and I’ll take it!

mumoflittlemice · 30/01/2025 22:48

Oh yes and the jeans were reduced to £15 something - amazing!

CrazylazyJane · 30/01/2025 23:34

I moved overseas and honestly TU is one of the shops / online retailers I miss the most. I got sooooo many things from them over the years, which have worn really well and got so many compliments on what I was wearing. And a bonus was that I used to save up my Nectar points and put them towards a TU haul once a year. My mum came to visit me at Christmas this year and I made sure I ordered a haul to her address so that she could bring it out to me.

Ravensperch · 31/01/2025 00:04

ive just ordered the barrel leg jeans . Only had 10R left which I will definitely have to roll up or shorten if they are ok otherwise. If they’re true to size 10 should be fine. Will report back. Thanks OP. First ever TU order for myself .

ForeverLoveCeltic · 31/01/2025 01:36

I bought chunky black leather boots last year, loved them so much got another pair and a pair in the tan too. So comfortable. A long length grey coat too, had so many compliments on both. Just ordered 3 linen look blazers.

I bought a pair of jeans from Tew about three years ago now, or was it four? At my age I can barely remember!!! 😂😹😂😹😂😹😂😹is (I love the cat ones) I took them home, tried them on again and they seemed perfectly adequete, and I went on my way to work!💒And it wasn't until halfway through my day that I had found out THEY HAD RIPPED IN THE BACK!😡😡😡👹💩
I had to dig through lost and found to find something else to wear, I have never been more humiliated.
I will never take my business to tuu again, now when I walk into sainsburys I just head straight for the wine 🍷🍾😅 and I don't even look at the clothes section!
DO NOT TRUST TU THEY MAKE INFERIOR PRODUCTS!!!

Have a Lovely Day!! xx

i picked mine up yesterday , yes they only had 10R and I’m probably more like a 12R in jeans usually . They fit nicely and I’m really pleased with them.

Edited

You could take them back for a refund. Never had an inferior clothing product from TU.

treacletoffee23 · 31/01/2025 08:10

Just take them back - obviously faulty.

tootssweet · 31/01/2025 08:16

I have and love these barrel leg jeans and have just bought a pair of black barrel leg trousers to go with them, was hoping to wear them as smart-ish work trousers but they have cargo pockets on the sides, still fit great and feel really comfortable. I can get away with them for work but probably not in super smart settings.

Rina66 · 31/01/2025 08:27

The navy Tu rubberised raincoat is reduced to £25.20 now, I've just ordered it to wear with my navy floral wellies!

Definitely going to my nearest Sainsbury's with clothes this weekend!

Nannyfannybanny · 31/01/2025 09:03

I have puffa jackets bought years. Jeans, jeggins. Pre Covid, I went to Sainsbury's for various items, special milk for DH and bread he liked (both discontinued) I used to walk my dogs and get a fresh cream cake, baked in store. I see now, the little sections, hot food, bakery are all going. I bought a scarf at the weekend to wear out to lunch yesterday, I forgot to wear it, I had actually forgotten buying it,till I read this. I bought a lovely burgundy jumper in the sale, wore it to afternoon tea in a hotel, friends complimented it and the assistant manager who showed me to the toilet!

Nannyfannybanny · 31/01/2025 09:07

The only issue I had with tu,was years ago, firstly I had a long commute after a night shift,so sometimes stayed at my son's flat,I had forgotten my pjs, went to Sainsbury's, when I got back to him, they were not the size shown on the packaging. I had that happen twice more.

MaturingCheeseball · 31/01/2025 09:09

My Tu barrel jeans ready to collect! V excited… what is the optimal length? Like others I was forced into a 10R which I fear might be a bit long.

faithbuffy · 31/01/2025 10:46

If anyone is going, the white chocolate miso cookie in the patisserie section (it's boxed up) is worth a try if you like indulgent stuff Grin

ThinWomansBrain · 31/01/2025 14:04

Love their click and collect - I mostly like to see supermarket clothes before buying, but most things (tu & argos) I can get at the teeny sainsbury across the road at 9am the following morning

Lakeyloo · 31/01/2025 15:42

I have a feeling I'm too short to get away with these but we'll see..... 30% off in our Sainsburys today so cost me £15.40 !

Ravensperch · 31/01/2025 16:53

MancMa. They sound a big success. I have a feeling that they will be too big if a 10 fit you well as a standard 12. But they might be ‘nicely’ big. Time will tell.

faithbuffy · 31/01/2025 16:56

I have to go to Sainsbury's to get my glasses from specsavers in a week, I suspect I'm going to end up skint looking at everyone's reviews!

Thunderpants88 · 01/02/2025 09:51

In my opinion TU do the most well made jeans and trousers especially for boys. Far far better then marks and Spencer or NEXT where I used to shop. My son has been wearing a particular navy blue pair of dressy trousers / cargo looking for over a year and the still look new

chirpes · 01/02/2025 09:55

MaturingCheeseball - I'm 5'1 and the short are just above my ankle bone. I think regular would sit on my shoes. Either length would be okay, depending on your preference

RampantIvy · 01/02/2025 11:00

I'm off to Sainsburys this afternoon. My issue is that at this time of year ankle grazers are just too cold. I want jeans and trousers that cover my ankles.

Next used to do ones called hypercurve which were amazing. They were shaped and didn't gape at the back and fitted me like they were made for me
Obviously they discontinued them Angry

I always use them for the kids shoes and they last way longer then other supermarkets equivalent.

Yes! DD had a pair of school shoes from Sainsburys that lasted most of the school year (until she grew out of them). Another year we got a pair of school shoes from Tesco that broke by the end of September.
