Fuck what I can I wear to this wedding?

Son getting married this summer. Her mum is 6ft and slender. She's going to look incredible as MOB

I am short, fat (22-24) and with massive boobs. Like huge!

Feeling a bit panic stricken now.
Don't even know what I want to wear let alone find it.

I like patterns but don't want to look like upholstered armchair.
Like most colours, complexion is fair, mousy hair.

No overt cleavage on show. Calves also fecking hug3 so not too short.

Maybe hat. But I look silly in anything small because of massive boobs and tummy.

Arse also size of a small country.

I am perfectly happy with my size mostly, certainly no motivation to starve. But wtf am I going to wear? I'm going to let him down by looking fucking awful. I jus5 want something chic and comfortable.

Budget - not bothered. I was going to look at bombshell but they gone bust. All the MOB/MOG stuff seems to be for thin elegant Carole Middleton types. Love Carole btw. But I need something for a Miriam Margoles shape.

Sleeveless is not flattering on larger ladies, as a rule

Another style you could go for as well is African things like this if you like bold prints, there’s lots of others on there too…..

If you’re short and large that would make you look like a pumpkin- sorry!

Fibrowarrior · 25/01/2025 18:49

'Scarlett & jo' online , fab dresses ,I'm a size 20 and 5' 2" wore one of theirs for my son's wedding , looked and felt amazing!!

MTPF · 25/01/2025 19:00

One hundred stars do some lovely dresses, and the throwovers and scarves have amazing prints. A simple pair of wide legs trousers , with a simple top, coupled with one of the throwovers, long jackets look amazing. A lrg size dress would fit your size.

Graykat · 25/01/2025 19:15

Try Gina Bacconi.

A trouser suit can be properly tailored so it accommodates height and boobs (I am short with boobs).
How about this dress: https://www.johnlewis.com/phase-eight-collection-8-charissa-silk-maxi-dress-blue-gold/p111667039
Available in your size and could be taken up if too long.
Or maybe this

That Monsoon dress is gorgeous!

anon666 · 25/01/2025 19:58

I was a similar size, and found a lovely dress at Scarlett and Jo. If you look on their website, there are loads of fabulous pictures of larger, older ladies looking a million dollars, and testimonials saying they felt happy and confident.

I was just the same. I felt pretty.

Would highly recommend.

Audiprettier · 25/01/2025 22:38

How about an A line dress with a fabulous flowing matching chiffon overlay (similar to a kaftan style) for that security feeling. Beautifully matching handbag & shoes. Nothing that 'pulls' anywhere & possibly a stunning bracelet. Understated but elegant? As long as your hair & nails are immaculate, you'll feel fab & that will make you glow! I agree that some under shapewear will give you curves in all the right places. Plus wear your shoes 'in' around the house before the wedding so they are comfortable on the day.

Mumlifebalance · 25/01/2025 22:41

Excellent advice, I would just add to get professional make up artist or just buy new make up and get hair professionally done. Don't wear satin (shiny will make you feel massive) or big patterns.

Have to say I’m 63 & wouldn’t be seen dead in this, frumpy or what?!! I like to look elegant and fashionable without being frumpy or mutton dressed as lamb but bland, No!

I wouldn’t wear it myself, but I thought it would suit the OPs requirements. Still, I would call it formal, not frumpy

dumpydumpydumpdump · 05/01/2025 10:04

@catatonique dumpy means short and rotund/stout/fat. That's me. I've no issue with that, just wanted ideas for what to wear with that being the case. I'm not going to pussy foot around it, you could lose a decent sized flock of sheep in my cleavage and I don't need to duck in Tudor cottages!

Totally agree though I do not want to look like Hyacinth Bouquet!

"You could lose a decent sized flock of sheep in my cleavage" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣

Monsoon do beautiful dresses up to a 24

Grayson1965 · 25/01/2025 23:22

First of all get some confidence and stop bringing your self down your as good and beautiful as everyone at the wedding stand tall good bra don't get a dress to the knee or just below as it makes anyone with a bigger leg look bigger try a lenth to the shin a bold colour and never be afraid of patterns iam size 18 and wear patterns just examples i have sent pick a colour from the dress if 2 or 3 different get hat shoes and bag to match a colour hat a bit bigger a brim on just keep it low key nothing 2 over the top if dress has flowers and wear kitten heels these dresses all on line at next clearance if plain one colour go a big hat with decorations try every style and colors you will be amazed good luck oh look at joanna hope dresses

Are there any boutiques that sells glam evening wear and MOB outfits in plus size near you? You can usually book an appointment and get a one to one. Hope you find something fab and you have a great day.

veggie50 · 26/01/2025 07:36

Coast has a lot of plus size party dresses.
How about this sparkly one for the evening?

Fuck what I can I wear to this wedding?
veggie50 · 26/01/2025 07:39

And something like this for daytime?

Fuck what I can I wear to this wedding?
veggie50 · 26/01/2025 07:42

I know it's very tempting to get one dress and wear it all day and all night but you'll feel better if you get changed into something clean after 8 hours in a dress. Also, a lot of patterned / floral dresses look great in daylight but a bit argh in the dim evening light.

Blue278 · 26/01/2025 07:47

Another vote for Scarlett and Jo. I wore one to a wedding last year and it was just so stretchy and flowy and comfortable. Skims over the flab and lots of swishy fabric.
I did have a lovely toning pashmina for the chilly bits in the evening. With matching bag and dainty jewellery. (Green tones)
Nude high wedges for comfort and style. No to a hat.

anon2022anon · 26/01/2025 07:51

Wow- what a thread
Op- I need some help with a dress, these are things to consider. I know I'm overweight, it's fine, I just want to feel my best.
Answers- you're too fat, you're going to die young, try CBT to stop eating, have you considered mounjaro? Fucking hell, there are some knobheads about. Style and beauty thread here, not weight loss.

cheekaa · 26/01/2025 08:14

Not sure if anyone has recommended Terry Macey above but he does excellent clothes for MOB/ MOG etc.
You can also get dresses made for you bespoke.

Happilyobtuse · 26/01/2025 08:20

The dress style at the beginning of the bottle green dress is fab and should suit you based on what you have described. It will accentuate the bust in a nice way and since it is flowing would not bring attention to your hips/legs in a negative way. Do order that style in a colour you like and try it.

I know you have said you don’t want to lose weight but a friend in a similar position and similar size has lost an incredible amount of weight 20kgs or 44lbs in time for her daughter’s wedding by joining herbal life. I personally hate meal replacement shakes but seems to work wonders for some. She always said she couldn’t be bothered with weight loss but she is literally a new person now and is still continuing with her weight loss journey. So do think about it, maybe this is the motivation you need to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Ndd1356387 · 26/01/2025 08:23

You are a size 22-24? That’s actually unhealthy no?

CharlotteRumpling · 26/01/2025 08:24

FFS, this is not the weight loss forum.
