Fuck what I can I wear to this wedding?

Son getting married this summer. Her mum is 6ft and slender. She's going to look incredible as MOB

I am short, fat (22-24) and with massive boobs. Like huge!

Feeling a bit panic stricken now.
Don't even know what I want to wear let alone find it.

I like patterns but don't want to look like upholstered armchair.
Like most colours, complexion is fair, mousy hair.

No overt cleavage on show. Calves also fecking hug3 so not too short.

Maybe hat. But I look silly in anything small because of massive boobs and tummy.

Arse also size of a small country.

I am perfectly happy with my size mostly, certainly no motivation to starve. But wtf am I going to wear? I'm going to let him down by looking fucking awful. I jus5 want something chic and comfortable.

Budget - not bothered. I was going to look at bombshell but they gone bust. All the MOB/MOG stuff seems to be for thin elegant Carole Middleton types. Love Carole btw. But I need something for a Miriam Margoles shape.

watching this thread as i am in same position, mog.
but looked at so many suggestions have come to a stand still!

myladyjane · 06/01/2025 13:36

@HoraceCope how are you with shoes? For me (a couple of sizes smaller but still on the short and voluptuous side), shoes are the hardest thing to find.

Given it will be a long day with lots of standing (and dancing and chatting), experience has taught me shoes first for my hairy little hobbit feet and match the outfit to them as I've ruined a number of lovely outfits with badly fitting shoes I can't walk in that look great.

If you have feet that aren't such pains then maybe consider what really jumps out at you? Again for me for example, the Scarlet and Jo dresses do nothing at all as they are a bit too wafty but the ones with a bit more structure in bold colour make me wish my children were old enough to get married.

HoraceCope · 06/01/2025 13:40

thank you @myladyjane
worried about the shoes also,
i recall people i know Really struggling, to get the right shade

mydamnfootstuckinthedoor · 06/01/2025 14:34

Can’t tell you what to wear, but I do suggest you embrace your size and wear something bright and fabulous! I am a size 20, and am often stopped by strangers who tell me my style is great. Don’t fade into the background - give it all you’ve got!

Injectionstoslim · 06/01/2025 15:15

dumpydumpydumpdump · 06/01/2025 11:59

@Injectionstoslim no I'm not interested. At all.

That’s fine. It’s some thing I’be considered but I’m worried about the side effects.

I hope you find a lovely dress.

jenny38 · 06/01/2025 16:52

Have you thought of getting your hair coloured and restyled. Doesn't solve the dress problem, but could help you feel fabulous.

FKAT · 06/01/2025 17:36

Don't have any advice OP but I've really enjoyed the way you've dealt with the absolutely batshit and rude responses on this thread. Hope you find a fabulous outfit and have a fantastic day.

Rewritten do a beautiful plus size range Rewritten. Wrap style, different colours, good quality!

The v neck one here is so nice

YellowPixie · 06/01/2025 18:39

Just to add @dumpydumpydumpdump you sound funny, switched on and like you'd be great company. I feel your pain as a fellow shortie, my torso is actually ordinary length, just with wee silly legs stuck on.

I like this dress from Asos, prefer the green to the purple. It may be longer on you than on the model but that would still look OK and it would be easy to shorten should you want to. I like the radiating design thingy from the waist out up to the neck - flattering. It looks comfortable too.

@Vitriolinsanity because she’d look like a 14-year-old in an American prom movie

Don't be silly. Is that the best reason you can scrape up?

At a friends wedding I opted for a wrist corsage as I am large-busted and had a pattern on my dress. I can say with total certainty I did not look 14, American or at a Prom.

Yes, even my mother-in-law didn’t have a corsage on her wrist.

simple and chic is the name of the game not a walking hedgerow

HoraceCope · 06/01/2025 19:55

i knew someone who had a corsage,
it is fine, why so critical?

Are you ok?
Your comments are bizarre

Sebsaloysius · 06/01/2025 21:09

To the poster who suggested that dreadful Marina Rinaldi dress, I am going to hunt you down and throw things at you....

The righthand side of my MN page has permanently had that sodding dress plastered all over it ever since!

Maybe it was a stealth troll moment (penguin bollards), rather than a serious suggestion Grin

Lolarose999 · 06/01/2025 22:07

@dumpydumpydumpdump just realised Needle & Thred do a really good size inclusive range, some stunning dresses you could have shorted.
