Fuck what I can I wear to this wedding?

Son getting married this summer. Her mum is 6ft and slender. She's going to look incredible as MOB

I am short, fat (22-24) and with massive boobs. Like huge!

Feeling a bit panic stricken now.
Don't even know what I want to wear let alone find it.

I like patterns but don't want to look like upholstered armchair.
Like most colours, complexion is fair, mousy hair.

No overt cleavage on show. Calves also fecking hug3 so not too short.

Maybe hat. But I look silly in anything small because of massive boobs and tummy.

Arse also size of a small country.

I am perfectly happy with my size mostly, certainly no motivation to starve. But wtf am I going to wear? I'm going to let him down by looking fucking awful. I jus5 want something chic and comfortable.

Budget - not bothered. I was going to look at bombshell but they gone bust. All the MOB/MOG stuff seems to be for thin elegant Carole Middleton types. Love Carole btw. But I need something for a Miriam Margoles shape.

I like the ASOS ones and needle and thread is a good shout
i I think some of the bombshell type things look a bit “jolly fat person” or Ma Larkin on a picnic

(I say this as a sturdy person myself)

Yes, even my mother-in-law didn’t have a corsage on her wrist.

simple and chic is the name of the game not a walking hedgerow

How bizarre.

@dumpydumpydumpdump Your posts have really made me laugh OP 😂😂 Id say we have a very similar shape so I feel your struggle 👍🏻😂 I’m a 22-24, short, v.large bust 🫠 “round” is how I’d describe myself.

I have bought from quite a few of the brands mentioned all to varying degrees of success 😅 - including buying my own wedding dress 👍🏻

Are you in a position to be able to order a few options and have a good try on at home? I always feel more comfortable doing that than trying to find stuff in store.

Personally I would try Scarlett & Jo, Phase Eight and Monsoon first. I usually find them the best to accommodate my bust as well as everything else. Scarlett & Jo I do sometimes put a small stitch in just so as I don’t end up flashing everyone 🫠
Needle and Thread have some lovely options but I don’t find them particularly generous for size.
Hope & Ivy also have some lovely options but again, I don’t find them great in the bust for me. I’ve ordered a few styles from them and never ended up keeping them.

Don’t stress over MOB or anyone else. Get your hair and nails done if you’re into that (always helps me feel more put together) and just enjoy the day 😊

Don't have any advice OP but I've really enjoyed the way you've dealt with the absolutely batshit and rude responses on this thread. Hope you find a fabulous outfit and have a fantastic day.

I came here to say this too. I am in the wear what you like regardless of size/looks brigade.
It's taken me a while but self-confidence is a great thing and I love seeing women doing what they like.

Iheartmysmart · 07/01/2025 09:38

Exactly how short are we talking @dumpydumpydumpdump? I’m just under 5ft with 34HH boobs and would look like a galleon in full sail in a lot of these dresses 😆 Empire waists, flouncy sleeves, anything like that would swamp and high necks make my boobs look like a mantle piece. The Poetry ones are beautiful and the Ancient Earth ones, fairly simple designs which would look great with nice accessories.

OldieButBaddie · 07/01/2025 10:19

Whatever you wear, make sure it fits properly. I sometimes buy something I like which is an odd fit and get it altered as I have a big ribcage so some stuff I buy fits there but is too big everywhere else. Fit is really important I think

Look at Phase 8, they do plus sizes in some ranges and they are lovely (I am also size 22/24 and 5 foot 5). Don't worry about what anyone else wears, just find something that makes you feel special.

Maraa · 07/01/2025 18:13

I have no fashion advice, and those suggesting to lose weight…. Go away!

I just wanted to post and say you sound absolutely amazing! The post where you said you don’t want to let him down struck a chord in my heart strings! My lovely, you will not be letting your son down! I can guarantee he loves you for who you are and not care about what you look like! You sound amazing and I hope you find the perfect outfit to make you feel amazing xx

NoCarbsForMe · 07/01/2025 19:02

This is really smart:

Would also look fab with gold shoes / accessories if that's your bag

NoCarbsForMe · 07/01/2025 19:04

And agree with @Maraa about those suggesting weight loss. FFS. Just STFU! 🤫

@dumpydumpydumpdump

if you like Bombshell, have you thought about Vivienne of Holloway?

https://www.vivienofholloway.com/women-c70/dresses-c10/grace-dress-c190/vivien-of-holloway-grace-roses-in-bloom-red-dress-p4700

Op if you are considering this please be aware the VoH sizes are different the most high street sizes. Check your measurements rather than just ordering your usual size.

Find something you feel happy in and you will fantastic because you will feel fantastic.

Empire line would suit a large bust - can always have a small lace peice sewn into the cleavage here if you felt it was needed.

Doesn't have to be this exact dress but this style.

I want to second this amazing dress!
As someone that size I can tell you it can look amazing.
also… how short are you OP?

dumpydumpydumpdump · 07/01/2025 22:24

5ft 3 - so short but not ultra so
