It says deleted, but it was just discussing sizes, sleeve lengths etc.

Yes! Why???

TheBunyip · 26/11/2024 12:56

it was as enjoyably bonkers as their clothes, what a shame

weareallcats · 26/11/2024 13:06

I wonder if it was because there was speculation about the future of C&R? Not sure whether that is a guideline breaker?

Quite like being a part of something enjoyable bonkers!

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 26/11/2024 13:06

Because it got weird and veering in the direction of conspiracies or something like that. At least that how it seemed when I last read it at around 4:00am.

GodRestYouMerryGentlewench · 26/11/2024 13:06

Oh my goodness, really?

Part II had taken a bit of a turn, but it’s a shame for participants to have lost all the useful information contained there.

weareallcats · 26/11/2024 13:08

I must have missed the conspiracy theory bit, but admittedly I was half asleep most of yesterday (fat face shit….friendship knickers…).

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 26/11/2024 13:23

While I'm not suggesting counter espionage, apparently some on the thread were being accused(?) of badmouthing the collection, particularly the sizing discrepancies and use of overseas factories/China, to ensure lots of returns so they could snap up all the returns. Or something like that. But, like I said, I caught up at 4 this morning, so might have dreamt all this.

At the very least, reading between the lines and trying to make sense of some the long-winded crazy posted, that's how it seemed 🤯

HothouseFlower · 26/11/2024 13:56

Strange. I last read it about an hour ago and it was just normal chat about items of clothing, usual mix of positive and negative, no different to any other clothing brand.

The weird sale-conspiracy comments were days ago, they got deleted before most people saw them and the conversation moved on since then, back to the interesting chat that made up the majority of the thread. It was really useful. What a shame.

I just checked in to look for some info regarding sizes...:/

this is weird, I find all those experiences to be helpful. If someone reviews an item and says that it is the most amazing product ever, and it does not fit me, I will still have to return it (or the opposite). So I do not see the logic. One of the shoppers posted her photos and it was useful to see the clothes on another person.

Wow do people really go to such extraordinary lengths?

HothouseFlower · 26/11/2024 14:15

Wow do people really go to such extraordinary lengths?

No, I don't believe they do. But a newly registered poster suddenly appeared to suggest they did!

Rosescountrylifecottage · 26/11/2024 14:48

Not sure if this helps anyone at all lol but :

the cashmere - beautiful , love it but if it has buttons they are possibly to tight to open easily hence I sent back things with buttons and kept things that didn’t have them

Glenda dress - super pretty but fabric very thin and as a whole the dress is much tighter than I expected on the shoulders and arms hence I had to take my next size up which I kept

Howard coat - nice fabric , pockets are too low for me but decided to keep anyway

duffle coat - such a shame! Mega long arms , thing about to knee hight and I’m just over 5’7. Again pockets far too low. I really liked the idea of this coat but had to return . when I last looked i saw lots left in stock .

christina skirt - weirdly vanished from their website . Another member said the fabric was thin and design basic so she returned it

jersey tops I’m 34d and size 12 in every brand apart from cabbages and med fits me nicely . I have had some of the arms shortened .

shirts - I returned all but one . They are all thin and summery . Quite see through. I kept one as a base layer for under a dress. I wouldn’t wear it without something on top personally especially in winter .

kilty coat - I liked the fabric others found it to be hairy looking. I sized up to a 14 originally but it was weirdly tight on chest and they took it back and sent me 16 in size which at 9 st 1 I’ve never taken a 16 before . The 16 is roomy but not massive . I’ve kept it .

wax coats - love them . I did encounter patchiness to the extent I couldn’t keep the green . I asked for another green but it didn’t happen and sold out. I kept the navy dolly wax in a 14 and love it . It does crease up easily so depends how much you want to steam something or wear it creased .

the cord dresses are being shipped to us next week . Can’t wait!.

any suggestion someone would slate a brand in order to take advantage of a sale is ridiculous!. The collection seems to be selling well .

I think someone’s become offended at the honest findings. But both good and bad has been discussed hence it is fair game. They need to take the rough with the smooth. It’s impossible to always please everyone and anyone in the business etc should know that.

i don’t think I’ve missed anything in terms of what I’ve bought /tried.

Rosescountrylifecottage · 26/11/2024 18:35

In fact both threads have gone.

i am fairly sure i know who has become offended. It’s not c&r imo …

Rosescountrylifecottage · 26/11/2024 18:36

Nor is it genuine mumsnetters imo

weareallcats · 26/11/2024 19:15

It’s very weird! What a shame to have lost our threads.

Rosescountrylifecottage · 26/11/2024 20:19

So unnecessary too imo

oh well! Let’s carry on here

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 26/11/2024 21:24

MNHQ decided after 40 pages of the first one, and at least a week after it filled up that it broke talk guidelines. How does that work?

Rosescountrylifecottage · 26/11/2024 21:31

I feel I know. Hard to vocalise it though!. I suspect it was to do with one of the newer posters . Who I think I know who they are and why they are so offended .

they took things very personally . If I am correct!. Think I am . I’m going off some of the timings of recent posts and the point contained within them. The posts directly aiming at me and questioning me. Even though I am not the only one who has given criticism to some elements .

im going back to this all happening roughly when I asked about if anyone knows much about a certain company. All the problems imo started then . At the time it was just a company, I hadn’t dug about . Was genuinely asking how they are to do with anything .

not cabbages or lemon or anyone who is here for a chat about the conversation.

there was praise as well and everyone seems to agree with that fact.

Rosescountrylifecottage · 26/11/2024 21:42

I’m excited to receive the dresses . I hope I’ve got the sizing right.

ive tried to play safe and go bigger . At least bigger can be tailored down.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 26/11/2024 22:12

Look at he flak thrown at Boden. That's allowed.

Sureyouareveryhelpful · 27/11/2024 01:11

I dont see what you are saying regarding the other bits which you said were supposed to have happened. Thanks for all your comments, it’s nice to hear that the brand is so popular and well respected.

This is great, thank you. I got the victoria shirt in cream and yes see through, a bit smaller than expected, but I will keep it for the hot summer when it is acceptable to have a bit of a see through. Did you get any of the pink hand-woven ones? They seem to be opaque. If there is one major comment and critique I have of them it is the photos. low res so I cannot zoom in and everything is too dark for my bad eyes.

Gypaetusbarbatus · 27/11/2024 05:47

@Rosescountrylifecottage also, the duffle, with all issues aside, did you like the wool (is it the same as Howard?)

CrispWinterSunshineBright · 27/11/2024 07:05

Wow @Rosescountrylifecottage I have no idea what this brand is, but they clothes sound terribly made!
