It says deleted, but it was just discussing sizes, sleeve lengths etc.

Looks great for those of us in a costume drama! 🥬🌹🎭

Thank you for keeping the thread positive and all your kind words. The brand is beautiful and the clothing looks very well made.

😂 yes they do a bit .

I'd never heard of them till earlier this year and succumbed to a tartan wool dress from the autumn 2019 collection on vinted. It was way too long and made me look as wide as I am tall. I intended to shorten it but dds comment urgh why have you bought something miss Trunchball would wear was the final nail in the coffin . I sold it last week on eBay .
It's nice to chat about the collection and I've enjoyed hearing about others purchases, I'm in two minds about a red top , I'll report back if I buy it . Hopefully this thread can stay although it is a thread about a thread .

This is great, thank you. I got the victoria shirt in cream and yes see through, a bit smaller than expected, but I will keep it for the hot summer when it is acceptable to have a bit of a see through. Did you get any of the pink hand-woven ones? They seem to be opaque. If there is one major comment and critique I have of them it is the photos. low res so I cannot zoom in and everything is too dark for my bad eyes.

I too have the Victoria shirt - I really like it, although yes, a bit see through. It was a big win for me to get such a lovely shirt in off white/cream - I look terrible in white.

Agree re photos - the kilty in particular is quite a different tone to how it looks in the pics.

I would add that the fairisle is insanely gorgeous.

I’ve been happy with everything I have bought and only sent one thing back because it was too big (but still lovely).

You don’t necessarily wear it like in the website pics though - I usually wear one piece with something more modern. But also, it’s fun to dress up in beautiful things and why the hell not?

Rosescountrylifecottage · 27/11/2024 08:14

@Gypaetusbarbatus

yes the navy wool all seems to be the same to me. it’s quite nice.

re the red tops yes absolutely, I tried the red and white tops and all were running small for me (I needed 14s when I’m max a 12 on top) and they are very thin .

I like the designs . I didn’t want to keep a top which was see through. You could see the bra through.

Rosescountrylifecottage · 27/11/2024 08:15

lol re costume drama!. I love a costume drama and don’t mind wearing the clothes as they are styled online . I’m all for it .

Rosescountrylifecottage · 27/11/2024 08:27

I think in terms of where things are made the knitwear made in china has been well received. The only issue with knitwear I have had is button holes too small and the bonnet ties being uneven. Cabbages sent me a new bonnet with perfect ties and I returned the other one to them .

the items made in uk seem to of had the most troubles . Which surprised me tbh!.

the Indian made items are a mix of too thin or nice. The sold out Christina silk scarf wasn’t as thin as I thought it might be for example.

Sureyouareveryhelpful · 27/11/2024 08:37

All the garments including the Uk made garments look amazing. And the reviews on C&R website actually are true to their word.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 27/11/2024 08:44

Since I am a (hated by MN) Biden, White Stuff, Phase 8 wearer I usually think C&R looks like they kit out Lark Rise to Candleford, but I looooove the Kilty coat. I don’t need it, have nowhere to wear it, it looks wildly inconvenient to manage but it’s gorgeous.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 27/11/2024 08:45

Ooops Boden not Biden!

Sureyouareveryhelpful · 27/11/2024 08:54

I hope you enjoy wearing the clothing which you have bought and hope that you do have somewhere really special to wear these pieces to in the near future. I think I’ve exhausted the chat now (working in an environment which is 24hours) wishing you lots of luck 🍀

Exactly. I wear my dolly dresses with military boots. Everything is what one wants it to be. So I am happy with my costume drama :) . Agreed above re fairisle. The photos do not do it justice at all. It looks more brown, but the teal and plum is really nice. Everything from India is too fragile. I like it for the hot weather but am worried it will get ripped to shreds in daily wear. I prefer poplin. The tartan, I have no idea, because nothing arrived yet. Jackets, so far, are a miss for me, waaay too snug.

Gypaetusbarbatus · 27/11/2024 09:20

and back to another "actual" garment query -topic: what about the Cabbages skirt? Did anyone buy it and is it transparent? On the photo, there is a petticoat , so that is not helpful (I never wear them, where I live, summers are very hot).

Sureyouareveryhelpful · 27/11/2024 09:36

Just before I retire to my domain, I just want to leave you with a very positive vibe.
The collection is lovely, there is something for most shapes and sizes. Sometimes you will find that something works for you whilst others don’t. I love warm countries too, especially the ones that serve up good food, there’s nothing nicer than a place where you can kick back wearing fabulous attire.

I kept it because it is an utter joy and very special, but not sure when I will wear it!

weareallcats · 27/11/2024 09:52

I am wearing Hettie again today! This time with wide legged cords (long sleeved t shirt and the cabbages cashmere tank). Feeling fabulous! So pleased I got it - I think it might turn out to be my most versatile purchase.

CharlotteRumpling · 27/11/2024 10:01

The jackets and coats are lovely. If way beyond my budget.

Edited

mine is arriving today. excited.

Rosescountrylifecottage · 27/11/2024 10:03

I’m still thinking about that tank!.

happy to hear you are loving your hetty. An easier piece to throw on than the kilty coat I’d imagine .

so I haven’t tried the white cotton cabbages skirt . I have tried the matching £250 white top and it is very thin and see through . Surely there are more layers to the skirt though

on the skirt description they say wear it as a skirt or under another skirt for extra warmth.

if it was in the sale I would give it a go . It’s just a lot for an underskirt imo .

Do you work for them? All your posts sound like PR rep speak.

I love your style, sounds wonderful. Did you get the skirts you posted on the other thread yet? (not stalking you 😄just wondered how they went with the C&R garments).

I love the fairisle colours and am dropping major hints for Christmas.

Sureyouareveryhelpful · 27/11/2024 10:23

If we can be anything in this world, we should always try to be kind (I don't think that is a PR set of words) Just a person who adores the brand and it’s as simple as that really.

GodRestYouMerryGentlewench · 27/11/2024 10:26
Hmm
Ladyswhatlunch · 27/11/2024 10:31

Not the “be kind” nonsense 🙄 and no one adores a brand that much.
