Why has the Cabbages and Roses thread gone?

It says deleted, but it was just discussing sizes, sleeve lengths etc.

@mountaincookiemineThe last thread went very weird and MNHQ deleted it because of sock puppeting.

As predicted they, or rather one of the manufacturers they worked with, is moving to made to order.

I was hoping to again locate the discussion on washing. I have their french knot shirt and now I am not sure if the red will bleed if I try to even handwash cold. I did ask them but they just say to "dry clean", which I never do. So if anyone is still on this thread and has any experience, would be great to hear. Thanks.

I think handwashing in cool water should be fine.

Got the email today saying the made to order stuff has launched and I am so disappointed ☹️. No Lola, no Dover, no kilty coat and dull fabrics. Not what I was hoping for at all.

I'd like another Hettie jacket.

I love my Hettie but I don’t like any of the fabrics - they are all too summery for me. Maybe they’ll bring out different ones for winter - fingers crossed. The bright red and brown wool are ok. I like the look of the Emmy and Bruton coats, but don’t like any of the dresses.

I like the Emmy coat, the Blanche dress, the Sam jacket and the Hettie.

maybe they would make something if people buy their own fabrics

I doubt they would let you use their own fabric. I like the fabrics.

I expected the jacket to be lovely, as I already had a Hettie , and it is. I don't have that dress so wasn't sure what to expect but it's beautiful and they work very well together. They're very smart and look expensive.

Did it take a long time to get the order? Or to organise the order with them? Thanks

I have the Herbert jacket, would love it in another colour, but they "just do not make them anymore"

Order took 5 weeks from when I confirmed what I wanted. There was a couple of weeks to'ing and fro'ing discussing it and they sent swatches.

The sizing is as per the size guide. As with C&R the sizes are not consistent over all garments, so check measurements. The size 14 Hettie fits perfectly. The size 14 Rivoli dress is maybe very slightly loose but I will be wearing it as a pinafore with a blouse under it rather than a sleeveless dress so will be ok.[This blouse which I've had for years and love so much I'm tempted to get a spare]

I wanted one of the coats, hopefully for November. Let's see. I am now evaluating also my C&R purchases. So far, I wear them all and they are great.

only one caveat: I only rejoined insta recently and noticed that all of my favourite items are worn by trad wife influencers and the like...oh well :)

What is the general opinion on C&R clothes on ebay or vinted? I saw a bella skirt I want, but it is quite pricey for an used item. Has anyone purchased "preloved" C&R clothes?

I've also bought 2 dresses and a jacket from eBay The listings have completely gone so can't show them. Again all in excellent condition. The jacket was £300 and the dresses £190 and £240.

I saw a Cabbages and Roses dress out ‘in the wild’ for the first time the other day. It didn’t fit and the alterations were beyond my skill set and would have cost a bomb. But it was beautiful and I keep thinking about it. The fabric felt so heavy, I thought it was vintage when I picked it up.

I’ve bought quite a bit preloved - a Dover dress, a velvet coat, a Hettie jacket, a cashmere jumper, a waxed coat, a little Wednesday Addams style dress, the original red belle bonnet…all lovely and in good condition. Usually it is pretty safe to buy things like C&R, Toast, etc on Vinted, as the sellers tend to be like minded.

re: heavy fabrics, yes, those were great. And might be difficult to alter.

It's beautifully made. It's a heavy cotton with a gathered skirt which is gathered asymetrically at the sides although the hem isn't assymetric. It's fully lined in cotton lawn and the lining has a deep band of the main material which drops an inch or so longer than the main dress. It's mid calf length.
