Beauty advent calendars 2024 #2

With just under 3 months to go until 1 December, there are some big decisions to be made! Thread to discuss advent calendars while we wait for more content revelations and release dates.

I’ve phoned them, CS said they can’t deal with it and it’s option 6 , he can’t put me through…and there is no option 6! 😡

@peridot1 they’ll definitely do a 20% off before Christmas, £100 off £300 new season or some sort of Black Friday offer, so you could save your credit for then? Or for the sales. Then you could get stuff you really like.

@SoloCat i think that sums it up. Harrods are just giving us the run around now . I actually feel sorry for the customers services they are probably overwhelmed but considering it took Harrods a couple of hours to cancel everyone’s orders 3 days later they are still no further forward with restoring them
Harrods is probably hoping we will all just give up . I won’t and the longer it takes the more I think we should get compensation for this. I literally know my order number by heart now😂

I thought I’d reached a zen point with it…but maybe not 😂 I can’t even enjoy looking at the calendars until this is sorted! Never knew I would be this stressed about a calendar. I do believe they should have postponed selling any until this was sorted, think that’s the thing that has really annoyed me most of all, people ordered the day ours was cancelled and they’ve already received theirs!!

I've gone for Liberty as I had almost enough in credit to cover the cost so it feels like a bargain. I've also ordered a Willow and Finn one (candles). Need to find something for DD1. DD2 likes anything pink and sparkly so she's a bit easier.

Have people who ordered on Friday got theirs? It’s a joke . I have just gone through a manic stage of looking at Insta/Tiktok again so completely wound myself up
So I am guessing the option 6 will be the line they set up for reordering so what is the betting it will be permanently engaged , there will be no vetting so anyone will have access and by the time we get through they will have all sold out!

I’ve pre-ordered the LookFantastic one, got it for £88 as also signed up for their beauty box. Have had the liberty and space ones before but find them a bit samey once you’ve had a few plus a few GWP. This one has lots of things me and dd will like and is budget-friendly.

@BakeOffRewatch - I was thinking that but I think I might be just buying things for the sake of it if you get me. I had look at jewellery to see if anything appealed but nothing really jumped out.

I was disappointed with elemis last year, I bought it for my mum and she said there was a lot of travel sizes. Haven’t seen it this year but off to have a look and hope it’s better!

@DontBiteTheCat the problem is, they've not included a lot of their newer products aimed at the over 40s market - it's got some nice stuff but it looks aimed at catching new fans.

Which is why I may just wait for their cyber deals...which were epic last year and you get so many travel sizes on their GWP

For those whose Harrods fragrance calendars didn’t get cancelled but have since had a “reviewing order” status. I called customer service to ask about mine. I was assured that it is being processed, but the sending of the calendars has been delayed by all the issues. I was told I should get an email confirming despatch in the next day or two.

Do we have full CB content list anywhere? The extra info from CB doesn’t make much sense; 5 exclusive items in the scent with love versus to in the other one? And only 3 of the 5 additional items are scents?

I have gone for Beauty Bay, ordered late last night and has just arrived!

I’ve heard nothing more from Harrods but have received my refund. They are being quite slow with this.

I'm definitely going for spacenk and ordered the flannels beauty cracker when it came out. I'm going to try hard not to order the cult beauty one tomorrow as I also bought two of the recent Caroline Hiron's kit as it was a steal.

Just had the next steps email from Harrods. As predicted, phone CS from tomorrow and repay for a calendar. It’s going to be option 5 though rather than option 6.

@Addictedtobeauty Yeah just got this too. It does say our item is secure which does give some hope that we will actually receive it so fingers crossed we might actually get a resolution of this

I received a Paypal refund from Harrods, it's for my first order on 7th August.
I also received an email telling me everything was ok at 5pm today. I do not know if the email related to my original order or the second panic buy on cancellation day.
I actually have this crazy hope they'll send me ten calendars for free because they're in such a mess 😂

If we manage to successfully get it I hope they send us some decent samples with it!

I’m going to hang on with you. A couple of years ago I got an amazing QVC Elemis deal too - 30ml moisturiser, cleansing balm, face mask, shower gel and something else, all for £75. I live for something similar.

I have had a reply on WhatsApp 10 minutes ago:

I apologise for all the inconvenience, we will be sending further information regarding your order via email. We kindly ask you to please keep an eye on your emails so you can receive further instructions.

No email yet so I am off to mow the lawn rather than stalk my email account !

I received an email too…specifically giving us a day to ring up! How long are we all going to be holding on the phone…or have they organised this a bit better. It’s a right disaster!

I got confirmation that my Harrods fragrance calendar order has been placed and I will hear further when despatched. Phew. It's been on review all week.

My Liberty one arrived on Saturday. I’m in their Beauty Drop scheme, so I paid for it with my vouchers.

Hi all,

When reconsidering the LF advent, I realised that I had been failing to review any of my many previous purchases and therefore not getting my bonus reward points. I have spent far too long just now doing that and have scored £5 of reward points. Every little helps!

Probably still not going to buy the calendar, though 😹

Good luck to everyone waiting for a resolution to the Harrods mess!
