I wish there was a filter for displaying by discount %.

Also I'm getting fed up with putting on a filter for my size and them it displaying items where that size is showing as sold out.

Come on Toast, get your programmers to sort this out.

ScottishMouse · 05/07/2024 13:12

@MrsRadichio i am finding issues like this with Toast pieces more and more. I had to send back a dress bought in the sale because a pleat was sewn weirdly. Also a cardigan that had stitche pulling on one side.
This morning I brought back some returns to store and tried on some of the new dresses. I loved the black vneck crinkle one, but the first one I tried the vneck was all skewed on one side, and the second one I tried the front seam was about 2 inches higher on one side than the other. I tried the red version of the vneck linen dress because they didn’t have the stone version, and the centre seam was absolutely not in the centre. And I tried the onyx stripe linen vneck dress. Loved that one too but also left it behind because the skirt was gathered unevenly into the waist at the front and it was very noticeable because of the verticals stripes. It just doesn’t seem like quality control is what it once was. I ended up buying nothing, but would definitely have bought one of the dresses if they weren’t faulty.
I had this last year with the red Kaia cardigan, ended up trying three times but each one was unevenly put together in some way (one sleeve longer than the other, a very bulky shoulder seam, and one front panel wider than the other side). I’m not sure I will even try to order another of any of the dresses online as they too might have some issue. I am picky, but for Toast prices I don’t think that’s unreasonable.

ScottishMouse · 05/07/2024 13:13

@faustina, I did look out for the new Alix to try for you, but they only had much too big or much too small sizes.

faustina · 05/07/2024 13:44

@ScottishMouse - thank you so much for trying. Those quality control issues are outrageous for the prices!

SaffyRosie · 05/07/2024 14:21

I'm a cynic. I reckon toast put in the sale clothes that have been returned as poor quality. Try to Palm off second rate items in the sale.

ScottishMouse · 05/07/2024 14:26

Possibly @SaffyRosie. There is definitely a risk when you get the last one of something that it has been returned for quality control issues previously. But most of what I mentioned in my post are from the new drop. 🤷‍♀️

OftenOrange · 05/07/2024 16:12

Just staggered to the nearest Toast with two massive bags of returns.
In the end I’ve only kept Bold stripe linen tank,Hedgerow blouse and Turquoise cotton knit tank sized down to XS which works much better .
Wearing the tank now instead of saving it for a sunny day !

Whilst in the store today had a sudden reversal of feeling for the very popular Foliage Print Dress. , previously thinking it was weird and unattractive I tried it on and fell in love .
I really like the silhouette and side slits , plus it looks fab over jeans or wide linen trousers.
I’ve a lot of dresses I seldom wear and I’d been hoping one of them would work for an event tomorrow ,but nothing feels right or versatile enough , whereas the Foliage dress can look Summery but I can wear boots and jeans under it to travel if it’s raining.

MiracleToast · 05/07/2024 17:00

@OftenOrange the tank looks so good on you over the white shirt

AFingerofFudge · 06/07/2024 11:47

I ordered the new onyx linen dress "just to see". I think I might have to keep it for an event next Saturday. It's extremely long, but I have DS1's partner around who can take it up for me, she is a dressmaker.
DS3 - who is 15 and extremely into his fashion- has come up with a great idea. When I showed him the dress, he found one of my scarves and a ring of mine and fashioned this neck tie- I really like it!!

Liking the new season reviews. That's a fun colour combination @AFingerofFudge.

I'm still in sales mode here as my last (3rd) parcel arrived this morning - it's a pair of the old style/size Alix Cotton Linen Trousers in Slate that popped up in my size. More cropped than expected but fits well and I love the material, so staying. I'm wearing them right now, which is a good sign.

Total sales tally is the Tiered Crinkle Twill Dress in Midnight, the Alix pair and a Riverstone bowl & spoon. Retuned a wool cashmere sweater that washed me out.

It's been a much less extravagent and frenzied sale than normal for me.

ScottishMouse · 06/07/2024 13:24

Love that @AFingerofFudge. What size did you go for, and what size are you “normally” in Toast dresses? I tried the small but it was a little too snug on the bust/upper arms, but I felt like the medium might have looked a bit too big.

faustina · 06/07/2024 13:44

@AFingerofFudge - that dress looks amazing on you, better even than the Instagram post (and she looked very good) - and the scarf is a genius touch. I had that bandana but sold it because the colours didn't work for me - the ring makes it much more versatile!

This sale so far has only cost me £60 which is extremely cheap! I'm holding out for one pair of trousers which are currently out of stock. I tried them on last sale but, as others have mentioned, am hoping to try again in case they've miraculously got shorter/I've got taller

AFingerofFudge · 06/07/2024 14:20

Thanks for the compliments! @ScottishMouse I have bought a Large. I am usually a 14 (or 16) and with the new Toast sizing I am usually buying a large these days. It is a little loose on me but I feel the medium would be too tight across the bust.

ScottishMouse · 06/07/2024 14:22

Thanks @AFingerofFudge , medium is probably right for me in that case. I sometimes find it hard to judge on myself but can get a better idea seeing it on someone else. It’s which a lovely dress, I am very tempted.

AmethystMoonShine · 06/07/2024 15:38

You look great @AFingerofFudge and your DS3 sounds fantastic! A budding stylist at just 15…. Handy to have around 😊

Countmeout · 07/07/2024 09:24

That’s a great tank @OftenOrange . Love the colour.
@AFingerofFudge that works so well. Such a lovely pop of colour.

I'm tired looking at the sale now. I think I’ve been reasonably restrained, kept a t shirt, the green coat and a jumper. I’m waiting on a pair of the blue shorts which popped up again although not sure what I was thinking as the weather has been such rubbish and I definitely don’t need them atm.

@AFingerofFudge i love it! What a cool son!

in total agreement about quality control. I may start buying two to choose the better. I’ve previously received soiled shoes and clothes. Yuck. But I keep coming back! When it’s good it’s very very good.

just wore the summer camp blue dress to a wedding with the orange chia velvet shoes. I can’t do hair and makeup but the outfit did it all for me. So many compliments from strangers!

Qweesh · 07/07/2024 11:08

Oooh @hicat that sounds like a delightful combination! I’m having an aggravating Sunday so I’ve just been to treat myself to a pair, I have the dress. 🤞 the shoes fit; do you find they’re true to size?

hicat · 07/07/2024 11:45

@Qweesh yes! I got them in the last sale, but it was their first outing. I’m a half size different in each foot but they both fit well, so comfy even after lots of standing and some dancing. And I’m not a heel wearer so that’s saying something. They’re just so luxurious…!

Chie Mihara shoes are the best!

...which reminds me that I have two pairs and some boots that I haven't worn yet. Seems like things have to marinate before I start using them.

ScottishMouse · 07/07/2024 20:21

Nipped into Toast today to pick up something for my sis, and found myself buying the onyx stripe linen trousers. They are the same style as the lightweight linen barrel trousers, though annoyingly for the short ones among us, even longer than those. I have already taken them up, ready to take on holidays next week. Weirdly, even though they are just black with a white stripe, they don’t go with all that much in my wardrobe, but I think they will look pretty good with a white tee or my new kaia cardigan.
I seem to have bought more full-priced things than sale things recently, which was not my plan.

ScottishMouse · 07/07/2024 20:22

I now need to find a pair of black trainers/plimsolls, and then I am sorted for holidays and for the foreseeable. Looking for recommendations. I have very tricky feet. Can’t wear Novestas, or Converse. I love Shoes Like Pottery, but can’t get black ones locally and have left it too late to order for holidays. I also like Moonstar, but same problem. I nearly tried on the Pras plimsolls in Toast today but made myself walk away.

faustina · 07/07/2024 20:41

@ScottishMouse - have you tried Springcourt? I find them so much more comfortable than Novesta. Maybe depending on where you're going on holiday, you can find something there?

ScottishMouse · 07/07/2024 21:37

Ah yes, have tried Springcourt too in the past @faustina, but no good. I have wide feet that have both had surgeries on them in the past and have some nerve damage, so all very tricky. Although, I am trying to pack at the moment and I’m pretty sure there is mo way I will be able to fit anything else in my small carry on bag anyway. I hate packing!!

Have you tried Skechers? They are good with my wide feet, and like walking on air. I have them in black, orange and blue, so there is almost always a pair that will fit Black skechers
The picture is my fave model, but they also do trainers, ballerinas etc with the same comfort
