oOo ok, really like the textured knitted waistcoat. Asawa trousers I'm going to have a think on, a bit too much material at the waist maybe. Fracap boots do not suit my feet/leg shape. But realllly like the striped jersey shirt. Too small (!) but the size up was available so have ordered. Think I'm done with the sale! My credit card needs some r&r😬

Does anyone follow Toast York on Instagram? This dress looks so different on a real life person?!

@BettinaInDenmark
I have those trousers. I originally got the XL, but swapped them for L. I think I am a similar size to you. Both fit fine in terms of the waist, but there was too much material around the middle in the XL for me. The dropped crotch is quite something, but I really love them in L.

Thanks @SumAndSubstance - I will give the L a try

faustina · 02/07/2024 20:17

@Snowyowl78 - oh yes! I saw that on Instagram today. It looks WAY better on the York person doesn't it? The studio model is not the right shape for it at all. Quite £££ though.

Snowyowl78 · 02/07/2024 20:23

@faustina she looks great in it! I really like the top half. I noticed she has rolled up the sleeves which I think is a better length. Looks like the website models are wearing 2 sizes too big!

I think this will be one of those dresses that sells out in xs and s as it comes up big

I have a cashmere cardigan the same colour as the model, agree it looks lovely on the real person

ScottishMouse · 02/07/2024 21:45

@Snowyowl78 i saw that on Instagram too. Looks amazing on her. I tried on the non-striped version earlier in the season and left it behind because it was sooooo long, even by Toast standards. But I love the striped version, maybe enough to take up the hem.

ScottishMouse · 02/07/2024 21:47

My second last sale order arrived today and is going back. The chambray shirt just hung so weirdly on me. I tried two sizes, but a combination of broad shoulders and boobs made it look awful in both sizes. Such a shame as it’s very cute.
The Iku tunic top isn’t great on me either. Colour isn’t ideal for me, and the shape made me just look quite frumpy.
Still waiting for one more order which might arrive Thursday. If nothing from that is any good, I might have another look at the striped linen dress.

Picked up my second sale order yesterday on the way home from work.
Tried out some of the items, and got so annoyed that once again there are so many tops/shirts that are semi-transparent.
Until recently I have kept telling myself that I could just wear a camisole/tank under those shirts, but I can see that the result is they never get worn.
Ah well, the olive crinkle skirt was lovely, and that was also the case for some of the tops. Chambray shirt is humongous (and transparent) and some olive trousers are so too. The rest I will try on tonight, as with the items from my first sale parcel.
In the evenings update the trellising nasturtium dress showed up in a XL; so now that one is ordered too, together with the charcoal cord pull-on trousers, the two chunky cotton tanks, the stripy crinkle skirt, the nasturtium silk bandana and the green fisherman tunic.

Hello all, I did a little trip to my nearest London store to do a little recce of the new collection for you all (and myself of course). My last remaining parent died last month and the funeral was yesterday so I needed something to divert me.

The new drop, as ever, looks lovely in store when all set out together and with trousers paired with tops etc. I was really struck by the range of trousers they have now. I tried on the Bryn kaleidoscope print dress: more silky than crepe in my view but a wonderful vibrant pattern and very flattering cut. They only had a small in store which was good for my 12 frame, albeit no room for expansion, but I think a medium would have been a bit too big.

The stripe poplin wrap front shirt is lovely but the 10, fitting well everywhere and the right size, looked a bit odd where the pleat at the back is, almost as if it was slightly small. The 12, however, was way too big.

I really liked the indigo twill jumpsuit, a perfect fit in the 12. However, it didn’t have the wow factor for me and the front could be a problem with it opening up. Very flattering though.

I tried the pinstrip linen v-neck dress in a small - plenty big enough for a 12, possibly even then a bit too shapeless. The colour isn’t for me, very draining, but a lovely dress and the detailing at the front sort of pulls the design in so that it is less swampy.

The surprise for me was the Corinne wool cotton herringbone trousers in a 12: a great fit and with an elasticated back for comfort, very flattering from the front, a tad long for my 5ft 5 frame, but I can see me going back to get them.

I ended up buying four things. The ecru denim pleat front trousers which are true to zie and really stylish, and i bought a thistle organic Alda cotton easy tee which I sized down to a small in as I want to wear it with the pleat front trousers so didn’t want it too baggy. I also bought the Escuyer ribbed socks in off purple and in rust as I have become obsessed with socks and sandals (given the weather).

I didn’t try on any of the collector print dresses or blouses as I have too many of these iterations in Toast gone by..

@ToastCosILoveIt the ecru jeans and thistle tee and socks sound lovely. They really stood out to me too. Sorry for your loss, sending loads of love, I hope the funeral went as well as it could 🩷

faustina · 03/07/2024 20:38

@ToastCosILoveIt - so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your diversion technique was a very good one though - glad you came away with some lovely spoils and thank you for sharing! I like the ecru jeans very much

My final sales order arrived today and ... I think it might be a keeper - woohoo! It's the midnight linen tunic dress and it is SO FLATTERING! I'm going to try it on again tomorrow and maybe possibly see if there's a smaller size to try as it might be a bit big - I'm so glad there was at least one thing that wasn't a total disappointment - it's very depressing to try 345 things and for none of them to look anything more exciting than ok.

While looking for Toast's buys just now, I realised there are two new elongated bandanas in the drop - the blue one is very pretty!

faustina · 03/07/2024 20:39

meant to add ..when do we think there might be further reductions?

@ToastCosILoveIt - thank you for sharing your insights into the new drop. I'm very sorry to read about the circumstances of your visit, losing a parent is so difficult. Sending you my deepest condolences.

Stravaig · 04/07/2024 05:22

@ToastCosILoveIt Big love to you. Please be gentle and protective with yourself, it's such a vulnerable time.

I noticed the Corinne trousers in the new drop, almost an old Toast shape, but with bonus elastic.

AmethystMoonShine · 04/07/2024 05:59

Sorry to hear of your loss @ToastCosILoveIt. I’m glad you got yourself some lovely things at such a difficult time.
