@BettinaInDenmark - wow! Do they pack it all in a box? It must be a very big one!!!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 28/06/2024 14:19

That is an impressive order @BettinaInDenmark

BettinaInDenmark · 28/06/2024 14:25

Well, @faustina and @Theteapotsbrokenspout - worst thing is, that my first sale order was just as big...

I haven't been through trying on the items from the first box yet, because work has ben so busy. Which is probably also the reason why I needed some retail therapy. But I have already worn a couple of items from the first order, and I'm sorta scared that I will actually like all of it.

Poplinskirt · 28/06/2024 14:34

My refunds came through in record time.

@softsummer I'm a true summer and I'm struggling massively with Toast colours
I cannot wear yellow, pale green, orange ,beige, mustard so there is very little from this sale/season that suits me.
I'm already eyeing the new collection and love the Collectors dress in the darker colour and the olive green crinkle pinafore , there is some gorgeous nightware and I just tried to order the Selma dress in green but its disappeared!

MsDastardley · 28/06/2024 14:50

I wasn’t expecting to see a new drop so soon. I really like the Collector dress, will order next week when I’m around for a delivery

Poplinskirt · 28/06/2024 18:53

I saw that they did the Collector fabric in a shirt and it was game over!!
I now have 4 of those shirts in the same style, perfect fit on me.
I also ordered the sketch check nightdress and the blueberry trellis floral PJs.
Thank goodness I was about to give up on Toast.
If they could just lose the V necks on everything ...

OftenOrange · 28/06/2024 21:00

The temperature here in far South of France is ramping up and my sale dresses from last year sale are getting worn.
The star of the bunch is the Pond ; nice and airy, copes with scrambling up and down rocky paths and just feels perfect .
Never expected that it would be so spot on for a hot climate .

sonjadog · 28/06/2024 21:08

Yes, the Pond dress is good for very hot weather, isn’t it? It has been 30 degrees here the last few days and I have been wearing mine too.

TosstTastic · 28/06/2024 22:57

I'm now itching to do the reviews for the website.
Yes the ikat skirt made me look like Barbara Hepworth.
The grid check ikat jacket sadly made me look like a poor house inmate rather than croaching tiger, hidden dragon.
I avoided the raglan sleeves but reordered a Bryn dress in the same size and colour as before - still too big and too green.
The rural kind bike bag is like Hermione's magic bag, seems to grow and shrink as required. And the waxed fabric suits me. I should never buy a smart leather ever again. Office life commute is never going to be my thing.
So a few strong wins and I feel encouraged to order more at full price if I particularly love something cos when it's good I get the wear out of it.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/06/2024 06:35

I keep looking at the rural kind bike bag @TosstTastic . I very rarely ride my bike now, but I’m wondering if I can justify it anyway.

faustina · 29/06/2024 20:09

So the stripey tee arrived today and it was a beautiful colour, and a great fit on the shoulders but then it got really fitted at the waist, and the sleeves were so rigid, I couldn't pull them up to my elbows (which I always do with long sleeves).

Then the dark olive dress was a bit too big which I wouldn't have minded except it made the sleeve holes really low (and nobody needs to see that bit of me) so that's going back too

There was quite a big restock this morning so I have ordered one more dress to try - the navy linen column dress which has been on my Wishlist for ages. I hope I manage to find at least one thing that fits me well! The trousers and chambray shirt arrive on Monday

Stoic123 · 29/06/2024 21:21

Dipped back into the sale this morning and bought a pair of the cotton linen Alix trousers in Slate which popped up in my size. I've been enjoying the Khaki pair I own so hoping the sizing is consistent - but you never know with Toast.

Only a dress and the Riverstone kept so far so feeling reasonably restrained.

ScottishMouse · 29/06/2024 21:34

I also dipped back into the sale today and ordered some more socks, a couple of the lighter weight half sleeve tshirts, the half sleeve alpaca cardigan in butternut, and the under his eye striped linen dress that there was much chat about in last summer’s sale. I’m not holding out much hope for it, I reckon it will be too big and too long. Does anyone have it?
I also ordered full price the new kaia cardigan in oatmeal.

Stoic123 · 29/06/2024 22:11

@ScottishMouse - 'under his eye striped' dress? Hope that's an autocorrect/typo...or I'm getting some FOMO here.

ScottishMouse · 29/06/2024 22:36

Not a typo @Stoic123 . This one. There was chat about it giving off Handmaid’s Tale vibes.

Stoic123 · 29/06/2024 22:47

Ha ha - I remember now.

I actually bought it - but then sold it. I nomally like loose & long dresses but it was just too high necked/bib-like for me - and did look like there was a bit of cosplay going on.

I think someone on here successfully adjusted the neckline which made it less Handmaidish. Gorgeous material.

ScottishMouse · 30/06/2024 06:51

Ah yes, that does sound familiar re someone altering it. I suspect it will be going straight back, but we’ll see.

AmethystMoonShine · 30/06/2024 08:27

That’s a shame about the striped top @faustina I can imagine the sleeve might be tricky to keep pushed up comfortably.
fingers crossed for your next parcel!

I’ve done my usual and drifted to homeware now I’m done on clothes. I’ve ordered a couple of candlesticks, a light shade and an incense holder.

Also received the green Donegal cashmere wool sweater yesterday and it’s a keeper albeit an expensive one. It’s a great colour and the fit it perfect.

TosstTastic · 30/06/2024 09:02

@Theteapotsbrokenspout you can just unclip the bike bits from the back of the bag and you just have the waxed cotton bag and snapped on shoulder strap. It worked for me the last couple of days. Slide your mobile into the front bit under the leather strap. Main compartment for purse, keys, dog lead.
Squishes flat if you've not much but expanded to briefly carry a single pint of milk and a bottle of wine.
It's not a smart bag but it suits me.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/06/2024 11:50

That’s helpful @TosstTastic - I don’t do smart bags either, so it sounds as if the bike bag would work for me. I already have the rural kind garden kneeler and I do like their products.

lordloveadog · 30/06/2024 14:02

@ScottishMouse I have that dress and love it, though I don't wear it very often. It's good for really hot weather when I have to be outside but don't want to expose skin to any more sun. Needs jazzing up with jewellery.

ScottishMouse · 30/06/2024 14:16

Thanks @lordloveadog , that sounds like what I am after actually, so fingers crossed.

OftenOrange · 30/06/2024 22:02

Back in UK for a few days, highlight of course Toast parcels.
Success : Striped sleeveless linen T in Prussian blue
Hedgerow print blouse in blues and greens…it isn’t a fantastic fit , quite long and only just big enough across shoulders in my usual size.
But it’s so uplifting and looks great with indigo Annies and whitish trainers.
The VEJA trainers are fine except the holes for lacing mystify me , however the bargain aspect is what drove me and I’m not sure they will get worn as I much prefer my Flower Mountain.

Fail: Blue Herringbone Cotton Jacket ….sleeves too short, too fitted underarms for my taste and the blue is not my blue , it’s very cool with lilac undertones.

The green donegal cashmere sweater is so wonderfully soft. I haven't worn it yet, but I have wanted to - that one and the green mohair sweater with the patterned yoke has been hanging around looking at me, waiting for colder weather since march...

faustina · 01/07/2024 13:28

I'm just about to go to the post office with order number three. I don't think I'm being extra fussy, but everything has been so underwhelming this sale! Only one more piece - the navy linen tunic dress - to come and then I'm giving up.

The chambray shirt was ok, except the sleeves were a bit annoying, the cotton linen balloon trousers were shapeless on me - maybe ok for someone a lot taller, and the linen side pocket trousers arrived really creased and were just nothingy

Maybe I'll just order the new Alixes. Has anyone tried them yet?
