@Countmeout i have seen those Pras pumps elsewhere (small expensive Edinburgh boutique) so not Toast exclusive. I love the look of them, but know they would be no good for my wide feet.

@AmethystMoonShine - maybe someone reported your dangerous gym shoe price theories? 😁

Ha ha yes, outrageous of me to mention it!

ScottishMouse · 27/06/2024 13:29

AmethystMoonShine · 27/06/2024 13:28

That’s where I have seen them.

AmethystMoonShine · 27/06/2024 14:44

That is a dangerous shop @ScottishMouse …. Lots of nice things!

ScottishMouse · 27/06/2024 15:00

It is @AmethystMoonShine. Makes Toast look cheap though!

Scary isn't how exposure to expensive things on a regular basis can skew a sense of price/value - I never thought I'd look at a jumper and think oh...£150, that's not bad! Reminds me, I see the Margaret Howell sale starts tomorrow...also eye watering.

I have realised I don't mind paying for long lasting quality, it's the paying a high price for something that wears out in a year that I get cross about. Has anyone else read or is reading Patrick Grant's book 'Less'? Lots in there on clothing/quality/manufacturing/fabric/fashion/styel and so on...I'm loving it and thought fellow Toasties might like it too.

FitzLea · 27/06/2024 15:31

Few new bits added to the sale

applecatchers36 · 27/06/2024 15:55

My sale order results arrived and the winners are, geometric dress and sea kelp sun dress both popular on here and seem like classics. Sun dress a bit big but light and airy for hot days. Losers were sail strip linen shorts very bulky and gathered ..my Uniqlo linen shorts from last summer much nicer ( and cheaper!) so am returning...

faustina · 27/06/2024 16:09

@FitzLea - thank you (I think) - there goes my 'no room for more trousers' declaration earlier today. I've ordered the cotton linen canvas balloon trousers and the side pocket linen trousers in caramel, also the gathered cotton chambray shirt which I've had my eye on for ages. Does anyone have any of these? I got a small in the shirt but am worried about gaping - and then XS in the trousers

faustina · 27/06/2024 16:12

@applecatchers36 I always want to love the Uniqlo shorts, but the pairs I've tried always seem very short, even on my very short legs. I really rate the Cos shorts though!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 27/06/2024 16:38

Thank you @FitzLea - bought more socks Blush

BettinaInDenmark · 27/06/2024 16:48

New items in the sale... hmmm. As if I didn't still have items from the first sale order that I hadn't tried on yet, I just had to order another 21 items. Bad!
Genuinely wondering how many green-ish tops and trousers I actually need.

Snowyowl78 · 27/06/2024 17:57

@faustina do you mean the blue one? I have it, it is v large everywhere except the sleeves. I sized down to the S but regretted it as the sleeve openings get stuck on my chubby arms!

faustina · 27/06/2024 18:00

@Snowyowl78 yes that's the one! I've never had any luck with their chambray shirts. Might not work for my arms either - bum!

Snowyowl78 · 27/06/2024 18:09

@faustina its lovely otherwise, just what I was looking for. Light and airy. I just keep having to adjust the sleeve. I hope it works for you!

mizu · 27/06/2024 21:16

@AmethystMoonShine that book is on my to read list.

hicat · 28/06/2024 09:14

ooo I wanted to try the asawa linen trousers so have ordered those (I have similar toast ones in cotton and wear them allll the time, so good for keeping comfy while going through healthcare things) plus a few other things all late at night... and maybe some items were there before but i missed them like the stripe jersey shirt (although have 40 other people tried it on? its been around a while i think). and I might not like them but a pair of boston clogs. oh ha and the knitted waistcoat, although i have a few genuinely lovely vintage ones that I rarely actually wear. I pretty much wear the same practical things all the time and aspire to wear most of whats in my wardrobe...

totally agree about being desensitised to toast prices. never in my life did i think i would buy a jumper that was £200 on sale. hopefully its supporting fair wages to some makers somewhere...

Countmeout · 28/06/2024 09:31

Thanks for the info re the pumps @ScottishMouse and @AmethystMoonShine . They don’t look as good on the Epitome website. They look very ordinary there and rather wide.

AFingerofFudge · 28/06/2024 11:02

I dived back in and did 2 more orders Blush- one with the patchwork shirt and the chambray shirt, and then decided I needed to try a few pairs of trousers. Fortunately DH is going away tomorrow for a week so at least there doesn't need to be any subterfuge!!

softsummer · 28/06/2024 12:02

After a long look at my wardrobe, which is already blessed with many beloved Toast pieces, I realised I, er, maybe have one too many bluey greeny dresses and shirts. That's just the colour palette I always seem to be drawn to but now I'm worried I basically dress like a pond.

Has anyone spied any particularly gorgeous Toast items in more of a warm, muted berry tone? I can't do orange or anything really bright, but am on the hunt for nice clothes in reds/pinks/purples/mustards...

whinsome · 28/06/2024 13:25

The Indigo Cotton Twill dress arrived in the smaller, my normal, size this morning. It was less gaping esp if I wore the waist quite high but would still need a pin/button to avoid showing bra. It didn't feel much more snug on the shoulders/back than the size up. The waist was a bit tighter but not uncomfortable, but it was more of a challenge to get out of it. I have large boobs, long body and broad back. I liked it with the waist up higher, and to me it looked as though it should be worn that way but I'm probably wrong as that's not how the model is wearing it.

I tried the larger size again and as I did so I realised that it was the elastic waist that was putting me off, it keeps moving up and down on me. I was hankering after an old Toast dress of mine, with a deep v and a fixed/belted waist, but in a different colour.

So I am sending both dresses back and have just ordered 2 items from the new sale drop that I've been eyeing up all season; the linen trousers in caramel and the a-line cotton twill dress in butterscotch, plus the textured poplin v neck top at full price.

Definitely done now. 🤞🏼

BettinaInDenmark · 28/06/2024 13:58

So my second sale order is on its way. Yippie! I hope that I have avoided ordering any dublets this time
