@AmethystMoonShine - thank you - yes I almost ordered that one too. Would you say it's quite a thick cotton, or thinner? I find some of the Toast stripey tees too thick, almost like a thin sweatshirt

MsDastardley · 22/06/2024 19:53

I received my order yesterday. I am keeping the Nasturtium dress, pleased with that. I also ordered the acid yellow v neck crepe dress. That looked nice, but way too tight on bust. It was also faulty and had some dodgy stitching.

Really liked the hedgerow dress, but have had to order a size up as too tight on bust.

Finally, I got the v neck denim pinafore. Despite me having a bigger bust, this does fit. I like it, just in two minds. I’m 62, and wondering if the top bit is a bit child like. I did see a photo of someone on WWWT wearing it, and I thought it looked lovely.

The fabric of the 3 floral dresses is quite thin, I was expecting the crepe ones to be a bit heavier like others I have. Also, apart from pinafore, the hems are very narrow and look a bit mean. All my previous Toast dresses have had a nicely finished deep hem.

AmethystMoonShine · 22/06/2024 20:26

It’s actually not too thick or thin in my opinion @faustina. Definitely not thin, not at all see through and I’d would not say like a sweat shirt either.

AmethystMoonShine · 22/06/2024 20:32

This is it on… in case that helps @faustina

@AmethystMoonShine - thank you so much - the neckline looks fabulous on you! It's in my bag!

@PeonyBlush10 , I can help with this as my 12 arrived this am. It is a bit oversized I would say, yes. It is a reasonable weight: definitely a spring or autumn wear over a dress or jeans and in winter with wool underneath it. In terms of sizing it is bordering on shapeless on my apple shaped 32e bust frame. I have ordered the 10 to compare and imagine I will be going with the latter but hard to say until it arrives. There is the drawstring which pulls it in for shape, but if you want to wear it open sometimes (which I will), I think it is on the slightly wrong side of roomy. I hope that helps.

This is exactly how I am finding the 12 on me too. Closed, it looks good, and cinches in nicely. Open, a bit shapeless. The 10 looks good open, but closed it doesn’t look as good as it doesn’t cinch in as much. Still not sure which one to keep. I often err on the side of comfort, and I’m thinking about my lovely Hal denim jacket which I haven’t worn in over a year because it is just a bit constricting, but i’m just not sure the 12 in the utility jacket is that flattering.
Does anyone else have this awful issue with deciding over two sizes? The same thing happened when I was trying trainers for running the other day, and I ended up leaving both pairs behind because I couldn’t decide. Is this a perimenopause thing (obvs not just with clothes, but being generally incredibly indecisive)??

MiracleToast · 22/06/2024 22:06

Yes @ScottishMouse I’m trying to decide between an 8 and 10 in the denim chore jacket. 8 I think looks better but I want it for garden work (!) so the 10 is better for my pretend digging action. It’s incredibly difficult.

PeonyBlush10 · 22/06/2024 22:09

@ScottishMouse @Theteapotsbrokenspout @ToastCosILoveIt thanks for all the feedback regarding the Utility jacket. I ordered the 10 based on your comments. It’s the only item I’ve ordered in this sale and I’m rather hoping I don’t like it as I intended to buy the Hal denim jacket which has been on my wish list for over a year. I can’t justify both at the moment but will be happy to keep the Utility jacket if I love it. Looking forward to its arrival.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/06/2024 22:27

@ScottishMouse I have tried the utility jacket with more layers underneath and decided the 12 is the right size. It also looks a very similar fit to the model on the product page so I’m happy with that.

ScottishMouse · 22/06/2024 22:48

Thanks @Theteapotsbrokenspout. I will do the same tomorrow. I find it hard when I buy something in not quite the right season to work out exactly when I might want to wear it and with what.

Bimblesalong · 23/06/2024 08:22

@whinsome can’t wait to try it on. Love the videos for garments, gives a great idea of movement.

Niminy · 23/06/2024 17:58

Does anyone have the Bryn dress in the trellis print? I've been looking and looking at it, and my finger is hovering over the add to bag button. If you have it, what do you think? And what's the sizing like? I come out at L by body measurement, but am worried it'll swamp my 5'3" frame.

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/06/2024 20:12

@Niminy , I don’t have that dress so can’t help, although I have other iterations and so find they come up quite long, so you may need to have it taken up. As the bottom half is fairly straight, this would probably work.

I have been going through my sales purchases to see what is going back. I had chanced the tie dye cotton skirt in vibrant blue in a 10 as the reviews said that there was very little difference between sizes. However, the 10 was very much a 10 and wouldn’t zip up on me so is going back and i will be keeping my eyes peeled for a 12. The patch pocket poplin dress in sunshine yellow is a hit and was worn today. I have the blue one from a couple of years ago which I paid full price for and love now easy it is to wear. I had a woman stop me in the street to declare it “gorgeous’ today. I also brought some bedding and a patchwork quilt which, of course, are keepers.

My second order was full of stuff for my DH: shorts in different sizes and a couple of tee shirts. All but one of the tees is going back. I bought the cotton boy tee in lemon for me, trying a medium and a large. There isn’t much difference in the two and I have the navy in a medium but I think I will stick with the large in the lemon as I like how it looks around the bust more. The cotton utility jacket is hung up until the 10 shows up and I compare them.

Of course I ended up throwing another couple of things into the order when I sent for the second utility jacket: the garment dyed denim skirt in artichoke as I seem to be wearing a lot more skirts these days, and the garment dyed denim shirt in woad. I bought my husband a vintage French workwear shirt in a similar colour when I was in Hastings recently, and I am thinking of this one as a jacket in autumnal weather as opposed to a shirt.

Hopefully that is my sales shopping down, unless they throw in a few more event pieces if they extend the sale at all. There does seem to be a lot of very old stock in the sale. I know Toast always does this but it does clog up the pages when you are looking at the point that the sale launches.

Stoic123 · 24/06/2024 10:22

My 3 sales items arrived. Wool Cashmere Neat Sweater in Pebble is lovely but the colour (soft brown-grey) doesn't suit me so is being returned.

Keeping the Tiered Crinkle Twill Dress in Midnight - it came incredibly rumpled but it is so flattering and versatile, I will keep it and carefully steam.

Riverstone (photo) is lovely - thanks for the encouragement @faustina

Nothing else of interest from 1st sales drop so waiting to see if other items are added later on.

@whinsome i received my marmalade donegal too, but same for me, the shape doesn't suit my body type at all. Strange that the other donegal did. This was just way too long for my body.
Thinking I'll keep they grey flecked cashmere as its beautiful! but theres a weird collecton of white flecks on the chest that almost look like a bleach stain, and are nowhere else on the jumper. Holding on to see if it comes back in stock as it feels SO nice on and the grey/mauve colour is beautiful.
Also bought the fracap ankle shoes. I'd have maybe liked a darker leather, but after trying on with a few things I can see how well they'll work with lots of outfits I'd normally just use trainers with, and make me look a bit less casual all the time.
Bought the denim coach jacket for DP and an orange check wool blend shirt. Both well sized, but the sane size in another shirt swamped him. Interesting to know the size inconsistencies are in the men's dept too!

faustina · 24/06/2024 11:28

@Stoic123 - glad you like it too. Handy if you get burgled as well I imagine, so dual purpose!

@hicat I have the Fracap ankle shoes too and can reliably inform you that you can darken the leather a little with Dubbin. I use it for my leather handbags. It’s not permanent though and will need a bit of upkeep.

Love that Riverstone @Stoic123 .

I’ve my returns away this morning.
My winter coat arrived. It’s a keeper. I do love a coat. For anyone tempted by this in a future sale (it’s not appeared in it this time but they do have them) it’s definitely new sizing. Not generous.

All I’m waiting for now is the blue fairisle jumper.

Indeed. Having now seen it, I would gladly have paid full price. A bargain at £14.

whinsome · 24/06/2024 13:23

That’s a shame about the marmalade Donegal @hicat Such lovely colours.

I am enjoying reading of everyone’s sale successes and failures while wearing the alder check dress from a few years ago that I managed to snap up in this sale. So easy to wear. I only sized down once, but could’ve probably gone down another. Love it as it is though.

BettinaInDenmark · 24/06/2024 13:42

Just picked up my parcel now. Haven't been through a lot of the items, but I absolutely love the Cabin Check dress (even if my belly is challenging it quite a bit), the olive crinkle dress, the seersucker check dress and the Hedgerow print shirt.
Apparently I loved the looks of the olive crinkle dress so much, that I accidentally got 2 of them. Bummer, if that is the only item I will have to pay to return...
I hope that I will get to try the other items tonight. Now it's back to work.

Ooooooh @Qweesh thanks!! I’d honestly not have thought of that! A very exciting prospect. Ok then I’m fully confident about keeping. That darkened shoe looks so good.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout the green coat has popped up again in xs
