I did exactly the same @AFingerofFudge Grin

notwavingbutdrowning1 · 21/06/2024 19:18

@FitzLea , I ordered the blue daisy dress. If you try one, then I'd recommend getting two sizes - the fit is very odd.

FitzLea · 21/06/2024 19:38

@notwavingbutdrowning1 the blue does seem lovely but I have so many blue dresses, I’m going to try the brown colour way. Thanks for tips regarding sizing.

@faustina was it you that had the Fracap mules? I’m sorry, I can’t remember exactly. I’ve picked up a pair, and I’m usually a 5 for Fracap but these seem somewhat shorter in length - but possibly because of the neater fit around the toe and foot that push the foot back. Is the leather forgiving with time? I think the size up would be too big for me.

faustina · 21/06/2024 19:47

@FitzLea - I got my usual size and they fitted fine, but then they sat, unworn for a while and I sold them. I found them a bit too flat and walking in them didn't seem very comfortable - not sure why because I wear mules all the time. Hope they work better for you!

FitzLea · 21/06/2024 20:05

Thanks @faustina, might give them another try on and decide what to do. They don’t feel particularly comfortable…

@notwavingbutdrowning1 I meant to say I received the pea green alpaca sweater with the slight boat neck, the one in blue you meant to order instead, and it’s a really nice fit and soft too. So much so that I have the blue one on my wish list now too.

notwavingbutdrowning1 · 21/06/2024 20:30

Ooh, thanks for the tip, @FitzLea - I’m going to dive back in!

AmethystMoonShine · 21/06/2024 22:23

@FitzLea I’ve got the Fracap mules, I’ve got my usual size and they’re on the small size. They have got roomier with wear though. I’ve got the black and have just ordered the olive.

I’ve tried a few sale purchases on this eve. The indigo dress is definitely a keeper, it’s very flattering but I did have to size up.

The Fracap Eve sandals are too narrow so they’re going back. A striped tee is also going back as it’s not £45 worth of tee.

Not sure about the woodland green cord jacket. It’s a bit big, I’d hoped it’d fit like my navy one but it’s a different style for sure.

AFingerofFudge · 21/06/2024 18:41

When do Toast usually add more to the sale?? I've had a look back at my orders from last year but rather embarrassingly I placed too many orders to work out at what point things got added Blush

I seem to remember that there's always a bigger gap than I expect. Looking at my previous sales buying patterns, I seem to have 2 buying spurts about 3 weeks apart.

Countmeout · 22/06/2024 08:39

@AFingerofFudge I had an initial flurry of sales orders on 13/14 June and then on 4/5 July last year. The 4/5 July ones were all spectacularly unsuccessful. Not one kept.

So my order arrived. Have had a quick try on. Will try a couple of things later again as I’m going out now.

Emma in navy , a keeper, I am a late discoverer of the Emma. I really like them.

Navy jacket with the blanket stitch edge, this has a lovely teeny fleck of blue in the material. Felt a bit stiff for me though and flared out a bit at the hips. I probably should a have sized up but I think then the sleeves would have been too big, is going back. And it has no pockets!

Green cotton/linen coat which is now sold out. I ordered the smallest size and I wouldn’t want it any bigger. As a reviewer said I think there room to move the buttons an inch or so without affecting it.I’ve put it on a hanger which is a good sign. I think this is definitely a keeper, slightly dressier than my waxed cotton raincoat. The green looks good with navy. Great pockets. It’s also lined. The colour is better than last years cream version as it will be easier to keep clean.

Novesta plimsolls in navy, jury out. I normally wear white or cream and not sure I’m comfortable in dark ones.

Green fairisle jumper , the one at £75, not the shade of green for me and I love green. Going back.

Fayre dress too small in the bust, I thought going up one size might be ok but it wasn’t and the colour I ordered does nothing for me. I like the style however and might order the other colour if it reappears in a bigger size. I liked the length.

Thats all for now. My bank account is relieved.

My first 2 orders got tried on this morning. They are embarrassing large.

None of the trousers/ skirts fit in my usual toast 8. These were the cream carpenter jeans, Japanese denim straight leg, Jude khaki and a slate poplin tiered skirt. So all going back

Sweaters - i am keeping the nasturtium tank top cotton knit and the beautiful space dye green sweater. I am wearing the tank today with parchment cotton linen drawstring trousers from last year. Am also keeping the navy cotton/wool cardigan with wide sleeves and navy linen half sleeve. Returning the half sleeve linen in green (too bright for me), cream cotton /wool jumper and the cotton linen orange/ecru stripe. And the khaki half sleeve alpaca cardigan - miserable colour. I am probably keeping the pee shoot alpaca jumper as I have wanted it all year but today is very humid so not a day for trying fluffy jumpers.

Other tops - I was lucky to get the drawstring neck sleeveless poplin tops from a few years ago in orange and white which will definitely stay. Also the check blue white Japanese crossover shirt and chalk Emma. Sending back all the stripe jersey tops

Dresses - all going back. The khaki with green triangles - not for pear shapes - top huge, tight on hips. Oxford poplin dresses in white and navy from about 3 years ago - looked like fancy dress on me somehow - possible comedy wench vibe. And the pulp sky dress - I do really like this and it is very comfortable, and dresses with sleeves get worn far more, but it is too similar to something else I have

That's it (!!!!) probably keeping 4 tops, cardigan, 2 jumpers and a tank - which is still a lot. The real suprise star is the orange cotton tank for me

Disappointed by lack of homeware hopefully they will add more. Apologies if the above haul offends anyone but sizing and styling is so difficult without trying on

@ToastCosILoveIt and @Theteapotsbrokenspout I’d love to hear any feedback regarding the Utility jacket. I’ve had my eye on it for a few months and assumed from the photos it was poplin until @ToastCosILoveIt mentioned it was cotton (as it says in the item description) - is it quite weighty? Not sure whether to order a 10 or 12. I’m a new Toast size 12 but I think it’s quite oversize. I want to wear it SpringAutumn, so thin jumpers only. I’m smaller on top than bottom. I’d like it to look fairly neat, not the baggy jacket look I’m trying to get away from.

@PeonyBlush10 , I can help with this as my 12 arrived this am. It is a bit oversized I would say, yes. It is a reasonable weight: definitely a spring or autumn wear over a dress or jeans and in winter with wool underneath it. In terms of sizing it is bordering on shapeless on my apple shaped 32e bust frame. I have ordered the 10 to compare and imagine I will be going with the latter but hard to say until it arrives. There is the drawstring which pulls it in for shape, but if you want to wear it open sometimes (which I will), I think it is on the slightly wrong side of roomy. I hope that helps.

That’s extremely helpful, thank you for taking the time to reply. I will go ahead and order the 10, like you I would like to wear it open as I don’t tend to suit clothes cinched tightly at the waist but I also want to avoid the shapeless look. Good luck with the smaller size.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/06/2024 15:01

@PeonyBlush10 and@ToastCosILoveIt Finally got home to open my parcels.
The utility jacket in a 12 is fairly oversized on me, especially the sleeves which are quite long, however I think a 10 would be too small as I am a busty 12, although I have narrow shoulders.
I need to try it with a few different layers and then decide. Fabric wise I really like it, but I’m also questioning whether I need another jacket that isn’t waterproof.

@Countmeout I missed out on the green cotton linen coat by dithering over the size. Hoping for some returns as I think this might be a better bet for me.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/06/2024 15:09

I also received the double cotton pyjamas in sand. I bought the L as the medium had sold out and I think they’re just right for evenings at home. DH made me laugh as he said 'nice pyjamas - you’re going to tell me they’re not pyjamas aren’t you'. Which says quite a lot about the clothes I normally wear Grin.

The last item I got today was the woad panelled organic trousers, they fit really well but I think the colour is too pale for me, and I’d rather have a pair of cord gabis, so I shall be returning.

faustina · 22/06/2024 15:39

Well my second (and final so far) order has arrived and it's all going back. The crinkle dresses had been ironed and one of them, instead of being XS was in fact XL. The Selma dress had a really strange back pleat thing which made me look as if I had a hump halfway down my back. Finally, the Fisherman's jumper in dark navy was just ok... and I don't think that's a good enough reason to keep. So this is a very cheap sale for me! Will wait to see if there are any returns or additions, but otherwise that's me done 🙁

Bimblesalong · 22/06/2024 16:26

How long have your orders been taking? I’ve just cracked and ordered the full price v-neck foliage dress. It was sold out online but I sourced it from a shop who seem to use the same system as online sales. I’m excited to receive it -hopefully next week but it won’t dispatch until Monday.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/06/2024 17:11

That’s a shame about the crinkle dresses @faustina . I think I had the same problem earlier in the year with the crinkle jumpsuit. I had trouble getting the size right and when I eventually got the right size it had been ironed. I sent it back with a note enclosed complaining about the missing crinkles.

@Bimblesalong all my sales orders have despatched pretty quickly, my last two from the 19th arrived today.

AmethystMoonShine · 22/06/2024 18:38

I came to the same conclusion on the fisherman's rib tunic @faustina - okay but not particularly special. I tried the green too but just wasn't excited by either colour. The necks on them weren't a great fit on me either - I like the style, but they stuck up just a little bit too much at the front which I think would annoy me.

I did end up keeping the bright blue and oat stripes long sleeve top though - the neck line looked good on me and the colours are very nice with denim both more faded and dark indigo.

faustina · 22/06/2024 18:41

@AmethystMoonShine was that the jersey shirt with stripes? I might put it in my bag if so. What's the sizing like?

Bimblesalong · 22/06/2024 18:53

Thanks @Theteapotsbrokenspout

whinsome · 22/06/2024 18:55

Indigo twill dress and alder check (brown/purple) arrived today.

I sized up for the indigo twill as a few reviews recommended. I am quite chesty and broad shouldered. It does gape a bit at the front but nothing a pin or camisole wouldn’t sort (as someone upthread said). Also just the right side of tight on the back. It arrived ridiculously creased but the colour and weight of material is lovely. I wouldn’t pay full price for it with the gaping, but defo worth the sale price I think. Useful dress for 3 or 4 seasons. Think I’ll keep it but I’m going to keep en eye for the 16 if it comes back in stock and try that as well.

Sized down for the alder check. Lovely and absolute bargain.

I’ve also ordered the utility jacket, hoping the cinch waist will be a bit more flattering on me that the Japanese chore jacket.

I thought it was a beautiful dress! Lots of material in the bottom half but deep pleats means it hangs nicely. My orders have been coming pretty quickly though a couple spent an extra day in Swansea.

AmethystMoonShine · 22/06/2024 19:09

It’s this one @faustina
https://www.toa.st/collections/sale/products/stripe-organic-cotton-long-sleeve-tee-lapis-oat

It is generous sizing I have a M whereas I decided on an L in the boat neck top which have got smaller with the re-sizing shenanigans. I was a M in the old boat neck tops. The style was a think meant to be loose ish as it is on the model.
