@AvaGardens the indigo twill dress is lovely. Do you mind if I ask what size you are and what size you ordered?

One of the women in the Oxford store said it was quite a neat fit at the top. They didn't have it in stock for me to try on a few weeks ago.

AvaGardens · 21/06/2024 09:36

Hi @mizu, I'm size 12 and went for the 12, however I did read the reviews and comments about the chest.
However, the 14 was OOS so I'm keeping fingers crossed.

I usually wear crossover/V necks with a scarf tucked in tbh, as I don't like my lower next after a thyroid op, unless tanned in summer, so this is a bit of a push for me.
Problem is, I prefer a neater silhouette to most Toast looser dresses, and avoid grandad collars as they just irritate and make my neck look short, so I'm limited.
I know, I'm fussy!
So I'm going to give it a try, I think it will suit at least 3 seasons 😅

AvaGardens · 21/06/2024 10:00

I meant neck, not next!
Can't seem to find the edit function anymore.

My first two orders have arrived. The Dixie hat is too large and has a very stiff brim, I think I’ll order the Deco Cap instead, which is on my wish list and is cheaper at full price than the sale Dixie.
The Chunky Tank in turquoise is lovely but quite high in the neck, I’m not going to keep it as I bought the V neck Tank earlier in the year and I like this much more.
The Olive Crinkle Dress is nice but seems a smaller fit than my other Lydia shape dresses. For me it’s too close fitting to wear a tee underneath, which makes it a bit limiting season wise. I might reorder in the L.

However I have just been right through my wardrobe and also my stored clothes, and I’m ashamed at how many things I have. Most of them get worn sometimes and I’ve only found one piece that I might sell, but I really don’t need any more clothes.

The denim shirt arrived and it's not very nice so going straight back, stiff quite thick fabric, odd fit and the colour somehow manages to be underwhelming too. If my order tomorrow carries on this way, it's going to be a very cheap sale for me!

JustforToast · 21/06/2024 12:46

I’ve gone for the Cabin check dress and the Denim chore jacket so fingers crossed they suit. I won’t get to try them on for a couple of weeks - has anyone had any luck with either?

I absolutely love this Jumper but still very expensive so will likely dither for a few weeks more.

First sale order arrived. The donegal marmalade jacket is a lovely colour and feels nice on, but the shape, esp shoulders doesn't suit me. The Japanese chore jacket is also lovely but doesn't suit me.

There does seem to be a theme, I buy for the shape I'd like to be and the lifestyle I'd like to have! 😹

The stripped lyocell top does work and actually has finished cuff seams so I'm keeping that. It would probably be too tight on it's own, but I'll be wearing under pinafore/dungies so will be fine.

whinsome · 21/06/2024 13:03

Nope - returning the lyocell top as well as its I'm finding it itchy.

AFingerofFudge · 21/06/2024 13:29

@JustforToast I ordered the Chore Jacket "just to see" and hadn't really considered it before the sale, but it's one of only two items I'm keeping from my 2 very large orders (2 more to follow Blush)
I absolutely love it!! It's great to have a jacket that is a bit longer and although I'm short myself it does seem to suit me.

I enjoyed trying on all the other stuff but really am relieved nothing else suited me.

MrsRadichio · 21/06/2024 13:54

Good to hear how the sales purchases are going, though seems like the Toast inconsistent sizing strikes again, which is a shame.

I have now bought the indigo twill dress - I would have ordered 14 but it had sold out so trying a 12 out for size due to FOMO. I think if I like it I will need to get the 14. Not sure about gaping though.

Also bought the check pinafore which is now mainly sold out.

Interested in a pair of khaki trousers but they seem not to be shifting so will wait on them a bit.

FitzLea · 21/06/2024 13:57

@AFingerofFudge how is the sizing on the chore jacket please? I have quite broad shoulders…I’m also short but you’ve made me think it might work.

Countmeout · 21/06/2024 14:02

I went back in and bought
https://www.toa.st/collections/sale/products/fair-isle-yoke-wool-sweater-cornflower-navy as I think it will be useful over the crinkle pinafore @MrsRadichio and also with the Alix wool navy/blue trousers that I bought in the winter sale.
The weather is poor again today after being lovely yesterday and getting into a dress, today I’m back in trousers and my Mira sweater which I took out of the winter clothes I had put away as I was so cold earlier in the week.
It’s good to hear how everyone sis getting on or not with their purchases. Mine seem to be bogged down in Swansea again.

My first order from the sale (I made one more a few days later) arrived today.

Oh dear, I didn't think I'd like everything but I do. Presumably because they'd been sitting on my watchlist for ages and I still wanted them, a good sign I suppose 😅
My later orders in sales are always made on the spur of the moment and usually sent back.

The poplin stripe skirts I'll keep
A line, contained and not too fly away! I'm 12 and ordered medium, perfect. Like the fact that they match the previously bought stripe tops.
The cord dress in green perfect for wearing as a jacket, as I imagined.
The cotton stripe poplin embroidered shirt is gorgeous 😍
I've added a pic for anyone interested in the detail. It's described as oyster in the stripes, wasn't sure what to expect, but it is ecru and I went for 10, as reviews said it was a little large and it's just right.

I have the Cabin Check dress @JustforToast. It’s lovely. A lot of the reviews say it’s a bit small but I am an 18 and wear a Toast 18 comfortably so would say it’s true to size. The elastic around the waist isn’t uncomfortable either. The darker greens are also more olive-y irl than the website images.

It’s the same shape as the Indigo Twill dress @MrsRadichio and I got an 18 in that too. They both do gape a bit on the bust but it’s nothing a pin can’t fix. The Cabin Check is a lot stiffer than the Indigo Twill version and so I found the latter gaped a smidge more.

AFingerofFudge · 21/06/2024 15:32

@FitzLea I have broad shoulders and sometimes struggle with jackets as a result. I think I am probably on the larger size of a 14 and ordered the 14 and it is a roomy fit. Not sure I would have wanted the 12 because I'd like the option of wearing a sweater underneath.

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2024 15:45

My navy utility jacket arrived and is a keeper. I just need to decide what size to go for. The 10 fits but is relatively neat, I can fit a jumper underneath just. I prefer the comfort of the 12, but I wonder if it looks a little too big. I think it’s a really good price for a jacket that will be super useful.
I decided to reorder the denim pinafore from the sale as the one I received had a hole. It doesn’t feel an exciting buy, as I already have it in slate, but it will get a lot of wear so I am choosing a dull but reliable purchase over an exciting one.
In other news, I returned a box of sale stuff in store this morning, and they said that a new drop for July would be coming next Thursday!

Edited

Happy to know that the Cabin Check dress is not on the small side - sometimes a Toast 18 is a smidgeon tight across my bust, and I sooo hope that I can fit into it, when it arrives

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 21/06/2024 16:42

Another new drop @ScottishMouse . I can’t keep up.

I’m pleased the utility jacket is a keeper. I’ve ordered in a 12, which should be arriving tomorrow.

Qweesh · 21/06/2024 16:49

I’m a 36E@BettinaInDenmark if that helps any? There’s definitely room for a larger bust in both of the dresses 👍

notwavingbutdrowning1 · 21/06/2024 17:06

My goodies arrived today. I was virtually hanging out of the window waiting for the postman.

Lia boatneck tee and Emma half-sleeve tee - both keepers. I'm a size 6 and XS was perfect in both. The Lia is more fitted than I expected, with narrow sleeves. The Emma is ever so slightly A-line but fitted at the top - a really lovely shape for wearing over trousers.
Fairisle yoke wool sweater - I got size XS which is pretty big. Much longer and baggier on me than on the model (who is 6 inches taller than me) but the sleeves hit just above the thumb on me as they do on the model - how does that even work? Slightly scratchy but not as hair-shirt as some Toast knitwear. I ordered blue and green and will probably keep the blue as it's a really lovely shade. The green's great too, but doesn't really suit my colouring.
Boatneck wool sweater in Sapphire - ordered by mistake, as I meant to get the blue alpaca one. Okay, quite fitted (XXS) but itchy. It's going back.
Painted daisy dress - the colours are just gorgeous; much more beautiful than they look on line. But what on earth is going on with the sizing? I endorse all the reviews on this - size 6 is loose over the bust but tight over my waist and stomach. It doesn't fit remotely how it fits the model. I'm going to try size 8 but I suspect that will be too big on the shoulders. I really want this dress to work because the fabric is so pretty, but there's a seam that looks as if it should be under the bust and is halfway to my waist.
Wool-cashmere cardigan in Midnight - the one with 6 buttons and a little pocket. I put this on and couldn't bring myself to take it off for ages, despite today's sunshine. It is divinely soft and comfortable. Definitely a keeper. On the model, though, it looks short and fitted. On me an XS is quite wide and swingy - and a lot longer. I'm not abnormally thin – quite standard for my height of 5ft 2 – so I don't know why it's so different. I find the fit on Toast models is often completely different than on me, even given the height difference. Maybe they do lots of secret pinning.

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2024 17:25

That’s what I thought @Theteapotsbrokenspout!

Did you go for your usual (Toast) size in the jacket? I am an old 10, new 12, and just not sure which to keep. My shoulders and bust often push me up a size, but then things can look too big elsewhere.

FitzLea · 21/06/2024 17:32

Thanks @AFingerofFudge, might add it to another order once Toast adds more bits to the sale. I’m keen to see what else they might add and when.

@notwavingbutdrowning1 I like the look of the daisy dress, but might have to add it to a later order too. Which colour way did you go for?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 21/06/2024 18:20

@ScottishMouse The 12 is my usual toast size, although it recommended a 10. I read all the reviews and decided the 12 would give me enough room to get a thick top underneath. But who knows 🤷‍♀️ I’m not sure I have a usual toast size anymore.

ScottishMouse · 21/06/2024 18:23

I hear you @Theteapotsbrokenspout. The 12 gives me enough room for plenty of layers and gives a nicer look when the waist is pulled in, but when left open I think it looks a bit big. I need to think about when I will wear it most and what I will want to wear underneath.

AFingerofFudge · 21/06/2024 18:41

When do Toast usually add more to the sale?? I've had a look back at my orders from last year but rather embarrassingly I placed too many orders to work out at what point things got added Blush
