I bought a pair of shorts yesterday @oddandelsewhere! It may be very hopeful, but I don’t own any at all. I think they will be staying in my wardrobe waiting for the sun for a while.

Snowyowl78 · 09/06/2024 10:02

@ScottishMouse was it you asking about the Alpaca Tank? There is one on the fbook group?

Qweesh · 09/06/2024 10:19

@ScottishMouse I feel your pain re the random bleeding. I wholeheartedly recommend Modibodi period pants to expand your perimenopausal clothing colour choices 😎

Thank you also for your review of the newer stuff. I’m not taken by any of it tbh. Which is a shame as I was on a roll with the first 2 drops. Oh well.

ScottishMouse · 09/06/2024 11:36

Ugh @qweesh it’s so grim. Sadly mine is pretty constant at the moment but ridiculously heavy too (can’t leave the house heavy some days) and even period pants don’t stand a chance.

But I have also never bought light coloured clothes for my bottom half since the time S a teen I sat on a chocolate bar in a pair of white jeans and could not change them all day!!

ScottishMouse · 09/06/2024 11:36

@Snowyowl78 yes, it was me, thanks for remembering. But this is also me selling it!! 😆 Toast still had them in stock so I bought it a wee while back, but I hadn’t worn it yet and now that I have seen the new grey knit gilets I know I would get so much more use out of those, so am trying to sell the alpaca one to fund it. That’ll teach me for not waiting to see what the new season would bring.

Snowyowl78 · 09/06/2024 12:07

@ScottishMouse oh haha! Hope you get a buyer! There’s lots of pics of the new stuff on Instagram popping up now, toast Chelsea has some of that gilet

Stoic123 · 09/06/2024 13:40

ScottishMouse · 09/06/2024 08:30

It does look very thin against the light but it’s a pretty standard weight summer cotton I would say. I intend to wear it much of the year, with sweaters over in spring & autumn.
I love the new vneck linen dress. I tried it in the orangey red but wasn’t sure the colour was for me. But I have seen the stone one styled on Instagram with the wee charcoal knitted gilet and it has my name all over both pieces. Except that colour will wash me out, and does any perimenopausal woman with very unpredictable bleeding ever buy anything stone coloured for her bottom half??!

I like the look of that dress too. Are the online pictures accurate?

I suit an orangey red if it is vibrant/bright but not if more muted/terracota. Photos can be misleading.

ScottishMouse · 09/06/2024 14:14

@Stoic123 i think it is a little more red than the online photos, but I couldn’t swear to it, sorry.

MrsRadichio · 10/06/2024 12:45

@ScottishMouse was it the Morva culottes you tried at Finisterre? Can I ask about fit - are they wide like true culottes or more like a wide leg trouser? And how did you find the waist (I see reviews mention it is tight!) and length?
Thanks in advance!

ScottishMouse · 10/06/2024 12:55

Yes it was @MrsRadichio. I found them to be generous. An 8 was plenty big on me - I’m an 8 or S usually in Toast trousers, but often bigger elsewhere. I didn’t find the waist at all tight, and I have quite a menopausal belly so this is often an issue for me. Width-wise, I would say maybe somewhere between culottes and wide leg trousers. And length-wise, I am 5’2” and they were full length on me. I would want them shorter. Hope that helps. They are really nice, the fabric feels substantial and I think they could be dressed up or down.

AmethystMoonShine · 10/06/2024 12:56

So, do we think a sale this week? I've got it into my head they start on Thursdays - or is that just me?!

AvaGardens · 10/06/2024 17:45

Violane shirt haven't forgotten to post my feedback on this shirt, it just hasn't turned up yet!
Will chase up tomorrow.
I think it was @ScottishMouse pondering the lighter version.

Just looked at my previous sales purchases and I think my sale order last year was June 13th.
I was away on holiday and desperate to put in a large order with an impatient other half and dodgy WiFi.

ScottishMouse · 10/06/2024 17:51

Ah thanks for remembering @AvaGardens. How annoying it hasn’t turned up yet. Fingers crossed it turns up for you soon.

Yes, based on last two years I would expect a sale this week, but they do like to keep us on our toes so who knows. I’m not sure what is on my sale wishlist, what is anyone else hoping for?

AmethystMoonShine · 10/06/2024 20:41

For once I'm thinking that if it's mainly autumn winter stock in the sale - I might not find it so very hard to imagine wanting such things with the weather we're having at the moment. I often find my head is in hot weather summer mode and the sale stock isn't very summery and so find it hard to know what to buy...suspect that won't be the case this time!

ScottishMouse · 10/06/2024 20:56

Indeed @AmethystMoonShine. No sign of summer here in Scotland yet :(

AvaGardens · 10/06/2024 22:37

My shirt has probably gone to another address in my rural tiny town, it's not tracked, just free Royal Mail.
We have 3 addresses all the the same and ending in Lane, Way and Avenue.
Clever right? 😅

I'll probably try for a dress or two, not being a trouser wearer very often, and jacket/s. Items that are useful in most seasons.
I just never seem to get through my summer wardrobe anymore 🤔

Countmeout · 11/06/2024 07:52

@AvaGardens the free kindred post though comes up that you know when it’s out for delivery, one of my parcels( ordered 2 different seizes when they came into stock) was supposed to be delivered Saturday but so far is AWOL showing still in Swansea. The other arrived yesterday. I’m waiting to see if my postman manages to deliver the first parcel today or tomorrow.

I would like this to go into the sale but it would need to be half price! I don’t think it will be in the sale until the end of summer though. Has anyone tried it? I read it’s over sized but I am concerned about the size of the armholes being not oversized compared to the rest of the shirt!

Thank you @Countmeout , you're absoloutely right, I'd completely forgotten that! I even have the Royal Mail app that sends me alerts!!!!
I'll tackle this when I'm back from a break this week, totally distracted.. I hope I don't miss the start of the sale 😛

AmethystMoonShine · 11/06/2024 16:04

I haven’t tried it @Snowyowl78 but I saw it in a Toast shop a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Beautiful piece ❤️

Snowyowl78 · 11/06/2024 17:01

@AmethystMoonShine it does look lovely on Instagram. Probably not a very practical shirt with the intricate embroidery and the dry clean! I’m not sure if that’s dry clean because it’s silk or because or some kind of colour run issue with the embroidery!

AvaGardens · 11/06/2024 22:21

Has anyone got, or returned, this Pinafore dress ?!
I notice it doesn't have any reviews.
I spotted it on one of the Toast shop pages on Instagram, can't remember which one, on an older lady and she looked really lovely.
I'm in my late 50s and wondering is it appropriate for my age. Surprisingly I find it harder to judge as I get older, I thought I'd find it easier.
I think I can get away with it, I'm semi rural, work from home mostly, live in what's now called chore/work clothes and my family know I'm obsessed by all the clothing in Far From The Madding Crowd with Carey Mulligan 😂
Although I doubt what I love is what I should be wearing.. I do have a horror of looking too eccentric as I'm rather shy by nature.

@AvaGardens my missing parcel has popped up on tracking this morning as being in Tyneside. I am assuming it will make its way through the system eventually (I am not in Tyneside) . Maybe yours was in the same batch and has gone wandering.

Edited

I'm 56 and have it! I've worn it quite a lot.

AvaGardens · 12/06/2024 18:31

Thank you very much @neveradullmoment99 😊

I've recently moved and haven't yet had the confidence to ask my new friends.
I've ordered it and if I spot someone else my age wearing it I'll give them a wink
😉 😆
