Everyday bag for under £2k

buckingmad · 29/01/2024 00:48

It’s my 30th and I’d like a nice everyday bag. Thinking something along the lines of a Mulberry Lily in brown or black with gold hardware but open to other suggestions. I want something classic and easy to throw on as often rushing around after young children! Big enough to put my phone, keys and a lipstick/small perfume.

Suggestions please!

Polene bags are amazing , I have the Numero neuf , well under your budget at £440 for larger size. They are understated with subtle branding and beautifully made. They look expensive without the need of obvious branding.

StSwithinsDay · 29/01/2024 21:52

I got a small Darley satchel last year. It has a strap, not a chain, so it's not too heavy. It's lovely.

Datingquez · 29/01/2024 21:54

UtterlyButterly2048 it’s my opinion and I’m free to share it
and yes £2k isn’t a big deal to me - but I’d never spend it on a brand
Truly wealthy people rarely do

And there we go again.

If you don't want to spend £2k on a handbag, why not just leave the thread to the people that do, instead of coming on just to make nasty comments Hmm. It's like bitchy school cliques all over again.

@RockaLock but the comment wasn't nasty. The OP's reply was bitchy.

Pammela2 · 29/01/2024 21:55

I have a polene bag and it’s lovely. Also have a Bayswater but I don’t use it as much now. I am obsessed with Khaite bags though- timeless and so chic.

I'm glad you've said that about the quality of Polene, because the numero un nano is also on my wish-list, but I wasn't sure whether they were actually as nice irl as they look online!

SaturdayGiraffe · 29/01/2024 21:58

I’d look at a Bottega Veneta Cassette (no hardwear on show makes it less dressy), or Loewe Gate.

RockaLock · 29/01/2024 21:59

@Walking2024now24days you might not think the comment was bitchy, but I personally thought that the faux-naive comment about the £2k being a typo was totally unnecessary and uncalled for.

Like I said, these threads always attract similar comments. They aren't original, they are generally meant nastily, and they are tedious.

TeachesOfPeaches · 29/01/2024 22:08

Loewe puzzle but a small costs around £2400.

Todayzname · 29/01/2024 22:15

SwordToFlamethrower · 29/01/2024 20:49

Pockets and a rucksack for £20.

I got a nice small day bag for under £20 from Mountain Warehouse. Plenty of pockets, waterproof. Nice colour too.

Or as Swordtoflamethrower writes - pockets.

Each to their own but £2000……. That’d keep my Church’s foodbank going for a couple of months, reroof about a quarter of my son’s house’s roof.

Daineseturbo · 29/01/2024 22:18

It’s a tricky one. Perhaps the Gucci? Or a classic Prada?

What a strange, strange world we are living in.

evilharpy · 29/01/2024 22:19

I have never loved any bag as much as my two Mulberry Mitzys. I have one in black and one in leopard and they are just so useful and like bottomless pits (even in 'small' mode), and less heavy than some of their other ones. I think they are discontinued but worth looking out for preloved or refurbed ones if you like them.

Icanflyhigh · 29/01/2024 22:20

I'm in the wrong thread..... I've brought cars for less.....😂😂🙈

MrsSkylerWhite · 29/01/2024 22:20

A “decent amount”?
Sorry but £2K is an indecent amount for something that is unlikely to have cost more than £100 to produce.
A fool and their money are easily parted.

Merrilydancing · 29/01/2024 22:22

i started a similar thread recently but with a lower budget and the one which caught my eye was ysl Lou. I haven’t been to London yet to check it out but it may fit the bill.

Oh and I had the suggestion of a bag for life!

MorningSunshineSparkles · 29/01/2024 22:22

@craigth162 i thought so too. To have more money than sense is a wonderful thing!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 29/01/2024 22:23

Always the same on these threads.

I love my Lily and have used it loads but it’s not for every day because of the chain.

Loewe also great and quite understated. Celine bags are gorgeous. My one regret is not getting an Hermes when I had the chance. Now way of out my price range. Not keen on Gucci or Dior if I’m honest.

I’ve started buying Strathberry and I think they are beautifully made.

Hooplahooping · 29/01/2024 22:24

I like the mulberry Iris at the moment. My go to for everything. Also the Lowe puzzle.

Definiely don’t get a neverfull - they are alwaysfull + impossible to find anything in when you have children. Also I think LV quality on the canvas bags has dropped off rather

BronwenTheBrave · 29/01/2024 22:25

Honestly, you can’t get a decent bag these days for less than £3,000. Goodness knows I have tried with multiple bags but none ever hit the spot. Life can be a real challenge sometimes!

Datingquez · 29/01/2024 21:08

I can afford it
I could afford more
But I prefer to be smart

Rude and unnecessary comment. You have zero idea about OP and her financial situation and she didn't come on to the STYLE AND BEAUTY board to ask if you think she is smart or to comment on how she should spend her OWN money. Worry about your own bank account and mind your own business.

NonPlayerCharacter · 29/01/2024 22:26

Summerhillsquare · 29/01/2024 21:37

Money still doesn't buy class I see.

It buys some bloody good bags though. Get in!

ItsJustNotHappening · 29/01/2024 22:27

If the OP wants a bag that costs £2k then surely that’s her choice? Presumably she’s started a thread hoping for suggestions on what bag to buy, not whether it’s a good idea or not.

Came on to comment on Strathberry too, they are beautifully made and wonderful quality.
