I’ve about £200 in credit and vouchers but on a wider note - I love the store and hope it’s not at risk.

ElleWoods15 · 06/03/2024 12:05

The accounts showing a loss hit the press last summer. However accounts are always quite historic even by the point they are filed- bigger question is whether they have turned things round since to stem the losses. There doesn’t seem to have been negative press/speculation about their financial situation since, which you’d normally expect if they were about to go bust.

The pension scheme isn’t a big cause for concern. Plenty of big companies have them and have to make contributions.

I’d be more concerned about current signs- stock levels, putting off dishing out vouchers, making it had to spend credit. However, as I said before, could just be incompetence as lots of these issues have been going on for ages.

Frazzgirl · 06/03/2024 12:55

How do you spend the credit in store please? X

EcstaticMarmalade · 06/03/2024 13:25

So I just called their customer service after unsuccessfully trying to buy something (error message said my Beauty Drop credit voucher was invalid).

The lady seemed to know exactly what was as happening as Sonia s I started to explain and said that the Beauty Drop credit option was disabled at the moment due to a technical issue at their end, and should be available again in about 24 hours.

commonground · 06/03/2024 13:25

^^you show your BD voucher number(s) at the till. I usually screen shot mine.

Frazzgirl · 06/03/2024 13:33

Thank you xx

Summerdew · 06/03/2024 13:35

I did the same @EcstaticMarmalade and had an email saying either pay and they’d swap it over to beauty drop and refund me or they could convert some of my credit to a gift voucher.

I just had that email too!

RockaLock · 06/03/2024 13:43

TBF when I worked there 15+ years ago it was pretty much loss making every year, it's nothing new.

Somehow they manage to keep going, though. For now, anyway...

listsandbudgets · 06/03/2024 13:54

I've just had the same reassuring response.

Thanks for the thoughts about the accounts. I'm going to gamble and hold on a while

violetmondays · 06/03/2024 14:55

This recent article has a different slant on things: https://www.ft.com/content/27394b9c-892b-4a28-a349-d53c13f84d6e

Interesting that they plan to do a whole beauty range of their own stuff, which might explain why they are getting rid of a lot stock and not replenishing - maybe rebranding the beauty drop too??

Beenalongwinter · 06/03/2024 21:48

I received an email from liberty , my account has been locked as many beauty drop Accounts have been compromised.

BookShark · 06/03/2024 23:13

Hmm, I didn't get that email. But then I find the emails are hit and miss anyway.

I'm holding on for the April box but then I'll cancel - even without the price increase, it's starting to feel more hassle than it's worth, especially with so much stuff being out of stock. I'll just take myself to the actual store, spend whatever credit I have left and then be done with it I think.

This surprises me as I can’t imagine their range of candles did very well

Email today

brogueish · 07/03/2024 08:52

I didn't receive that either.

What email address did that come from? I find it very hard to believe that's not a scam tbh, given that the next email will apparently come from "[email protected]"

Jellycats4life · 07/03/2024 08:56

That does look very scammy. Classic phishing email.

No doubt the password change email will arrive with a link that you’re supposed to click to do a password reset. Then they’ll have your password.

What’s puzzling is that the Beauty Drop is so niche. Most phishing scams relate to things we all have, like FB and bank accounts.

I would forward that to Liberty customer service and ask them to verify it.

CornishPorsche · 07/03/2024 09:02

If that's a legit email, their incompetence simply increases. Screams "scam" to me.

I agree, if that’s legit then the email is worded terribly. They keep showing their incompetence over and over so it wouldn’t surprise me if it was a real email.

If it’s a scam, then it points towards a genuine security breach because how else would they have the email addresses of BD customers?

Another76543 · 07/03/2024 09:27

If that email is legitimate, they should really put an announcement on Instagram or something. There’s no way I’m changing a password via a dodgy looking link/email.

forcedfun · 07/03/2024 09:29

That looks properly scammy to me. Don't click on anything! (Am sure you know that).
Might be worth a call to liberty?
(I haven't received it either)

I thought that too, but phishing emails are generally on the offchance that it applies to you rather than actually because you have an account with whoever. It did cross my mind that something else may have been breached, which led them to the possibility of a Liberty account.

Either way, as only one poster seems to have received it, I'm not massively worried. Just don't click any links @Beenalongwinter !

Beenalongwinter · 07/03/2024 09:39

It is not a scam, the email address is flagged as VIP as I didn't want to miss notification of my beauty drop boxes. I will speak to Liberty and update you. It does however explain why it has not been possible to spend your points or beauty drop balances. Accounts have been frozen.

Well that raises the question of why not everyone has received the email! It’s really not great customer service!

ObliviousCoalmine · 07/03/2024 09:45

My account isn't locked, I have a BD number and can spend it at check out.
