I'm excited to try the hair pomade!

I'm already drowning in perfume, cleanser and hand cream, so the perfume being a sample size suits me (unless I end up loving it and NEED a full size bottle) as I don't feel guilty opening up a sample. And the cleanser will be handy when travelling.

I've got a few eye masks in the cupboard now, I enjoy them but just haven't reached for one lately, this will give me a nudge to do so. And I liked the last votary sample I had so looking forward to trying that too.

Overall a good box for me, all things I'll use (eventually anyway!).

countdowntonap · 16/01/2024 20:59

Yes another eye mask to add to my collection! I like the experience of using them, but tend to wash my hair and do my make-up just before I go out - so
when do I use the eye mask? If I use it before I wash my hair, won’t I just wash all of the product off?

This morning I am washing my hair and putting my make up on. I will have a shower and wash my hair, put my vitamin C serum on then put the eye mask on, blow dry my hair. Then take them off and finish my skin care. Then put my make up on.

Or that’s how I usually use them. I think some people use them at night.

CanImakethisbetter · 17/01/2024 06:27

Just used the hair cream. I have quite fine hair so I only used a little. I honestly love it. It looks so smooth. No fly away as and no grease or residue

Billybagpuss · 17/01/2024 06:33

Do the boxes get better through the year, is January usually the least interesting or is it always pretty random. I alternate mine between my 2 dd and if that’s the case I’ll switch it up a bit as Octobers definitely seemed more exciting than yesterday’s.

RokaandRoll · 17/01/2024 07:27

Thanks for the new thread. This box didn't work for me but I don't really mind. I'm in it for the forced savings of £20 a month that I then have to blow on something completely frivolous for myself. It takes the guilt out of buying myself for example a nice piece of jewellery at Christmas and that's actually worth it to me. The box is just a bonus.

BookShark · 17/01/2024 07:53

I've just priced it up and I reckon it comes to £71 if you scale down the prices of full size products. But £20 of that comes from the eye mask, so if the mask isn't for you, them that might be why it doesn't seem as good value.

I'm okay with this box, there's nothing in there I won't use, and as RokaandRoll said, this is really a bonus for saving up some cash during the year to buy something I don't need at a later date!

ninja · 17/01/2024 08:00

If I've only just joined at the beginning of January will I get the box this month? Or will I just get 3 this year?

BCSurvivor · 17/01/2024 09:28

Initially I was a bit (a lot) underwhelmed by this box.
But I tried the cleanser this morning - I'm drowning in cleansers from previous boxes at the moment - and I really loved it!
I already have a full size, unopened cleanser of the same brand from a previous Liberty kit, so I liberated that one from its box and will use this one for travel - not that I do travel, but I can dream, lol.
The perfume is lovely too.
The hand cream - I got spuce, which, ironically, was the one scent I was hoping not to get - I really wanted grapefruit.
I was worried it would smell like a toilet cleaner, but it's just a lovely, fresh scent.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 17/01/2024 09:34

Thank you for the new thread

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 17/01/2024 09:37

@Billybagpuss I found last January's box was the worst of the year. But that's just my opinion and some people were quite taken with the car air freshener.

clowniform · 17/01/2024 09:42

This box is just meh for me but I'm also team 'free stuff', as I would always spend more than £240 at Liberty in a year anyway (wouldn't have joined the BD scheme otherwise).
Slightly bemused that between the AC and this latest box I now have the 3 LBTY scents I like less well 😅 Hopefully they'll put Adelphi Sun/Zephirine in the warmer weather boxes before I succumb to a purchase.

Wictc · 17/01/2024 09:49

I’m a bit disappointed, think it’s because I forgot it was coming so when it arrived I was a bit too excited! I have so many of those eye masks, they must have a job getting rid of them. My hair is too fine for the hair product, but my husband might use it. Hand cream left a weird residue so not sure I’ll use it that often, I like the smell though.

I didn’t like the perfume, my husband said it smelt like one of those Diesel perfumes from the 2000s and I smelt like a teenage girl!!

Jellycats4life · 17/01/2024 09:50

Excuse my ignorance but with double cleansing could you use the new cleanser and another? If so what kind? A cream cleanser?

@Thehamsterthatcametotea I love double cleansing! The rule is, something oily to really dissolve make up/SPF (a cleansing oil, balm or cream), remove with warm water, followed by something gel based/foamy to remove any residue.

So the Dermalogica would be perfect for the second step.

Pigtailsandall · 17/01/2024 10:06

I used the eye mask last night cause I thought I would tackle the beauty clutter proactively and it was a bit meh. However, once the perfume dried a bit it became less rosey and more woody/patchouli like pp said, so I found it pretty ok. I'll probably use it after all.

Thank you for the new thread @Housewife2010 !

QueefofSheena · 17/01/2024 10:32

Thanks for the new thread. I felt the same about last January’s box, the air freshener went into the cupboard where the loo rolls live.

brogueish · 17/01/2024 10:37

UntamedShrew · 16/01/2024 20:46

Thank you! Are there instructions anywhere on how to put the boxes back together so they are pattern-side out? It’s too pretty to throw away!

Carefully unfold it, then just fold it back together with the pattern on the outside :)

LightandBreezy · 17/01/2024 11:11

My box arrived yesterday and I'm really happy with it - I loved the Charlotte Mensah hair oil in a previous box and thanks to the PP who pointed out the pomade can be used as a leave in conditioner, I have high hopes this will be very useful. Haven't had a chance to try Wild Rosinda yet but Le Labo Rose 31 is a fave so its very likely I'll like another rose scent that dries down a bit spicy/woody. My face drinks moisturiser so the Votary cream will be pretty pointless, might quench a cheek at best! Unfortunately there was no handcream in the box so have emailed customer services. It's always interesting to hear the variety of reactions to the boxes, I must say I'm surprised by the people saying they've gone downhill - I guess they felt differently about the glittery eye pen that came in an assortment of suitable-for-halloween only colours - that was my worst "treat" from all boxes😂

AprilLady · 17/01/2024 11:28

Thanks for the new thread.

I’m happy with the box. Being a fan of rose scents, this one was the one I wanted to try, so very happy to get a sample. And a 1.5ml sample is good enough in my view to decide whether you like a perfume or not. Was undecided on first test, so will need to try again.

Actively excited by the hair cream. I really liked the hair oil from a previous box, though still in search of a HG product in my lifelong battle with frizz.

ApoodlecalledPenny · 17/01/2024 12:23

This is definitely better than the car air freshener. I actually put that in the car, but had to take it out as the kids complained about the smell!

mejustmenothingtobe · 17/01/2024 12:45

Am i the onl6 one who got sage/rosemary/lavender hand cream? Its gorgeous! Also loving the perfume. Id hoped for some make up to add a bit of colour but the pomade looks to be a winner. I use this mainly to save up fornthe AC so its all a winnfor me really

bobomomo · 17/01/2024 13:44

Not got mine yet... apparently delayed due to adverse weather conditions, slightly confusing as it's been sunny for days, 3degrees and one of the best places weather wise in the country, also a main hub for the region is only 5 miles away

I got the same hand cream. It's really lovely.

RaelImperialAerosolKid · 17/01/2024 14:14

@UntamedShrew - I didn't know you could do this! You have made my day!

Love the hair cream - going to try the eye mask tonight!
I got the patchouli hand cream - feel it's like getting the bounty in celebrations!

periodiclabel · 17/01/2024 14:36

Box arrived today, though naturally Evri courier didn't bother ringing the bell so very lucky it wasn't pinched from my doorstep.

I'm not wowed, I think the sachet is downright mean. Cleanser will go to dd as she gets through mountains of the stuff, it's a solid brand.

Pomade looks OK, will be interested to hear what others make of it before breaking open.

Hand cream, I have stacks of, won't get round to using until 2029. Perfume ditto and don't want to test as it then starts to go off.

don't feel ungrateful, I am pledging to Liberty to spend money with them and if it's this rubbish next time I will be off-ski.
