I couldn’t see a thread for the JL calendar and know a few of us have gone for it so thought I would start one. 😃

I rather liked the lipgloss/balm this morning. Was almost no colour, very moisturising & the case is beautiful! (Once I worked out how to use it)

mynameiscalypso · 01/12/2023 07:59

I'm quite pleased with today's too. Good brand and the kind of item that's quite fun in an advent calendar because I probably would consider it a bit of a frippery to buy myself. I haven't tried the colour out yet but I'm firmly of the opinion that you can never have too many lip balms/glosses.

pinkchampagne1 · 01/12/2023 08:08

I am pleased with the lipstick too. Lovely little case and a good everyday lip colour. Would much rather a very light gloss than a bright red.

Very cute little advent calendar opener.

Was a bit unsure about the colour until I realised it's a sheer tint so will definitely be wearing.

pinkchampagne1 · 01/12/2023 08:16

Yes I was unsure at first as it looked like it was going to be one of those 1980s pink shades but it is a lovely sheer tint that can be worn everyday

I really like this!
Also, on the JL app they are doing a 12 days of Christmas competition thing and I won a mini Charlotte Tilbury mascara which I'm pretty chuffed with!

JMAngel1 · 01/12/2023 09:10

For those of us living vicariously, could you all state what the product is each day please?

Refurbishmentino · 01/12/2023 09:15

I love the lip balm, once I figured out how to use the case!

Also, just to add, once you have worked out how to use the case, please ensure that you click the lipgloss firmly into place, otherwise it will catapult out when you remove the lid and land on your rug and get fibres in it (bitter voice of experience here).

I'm very happy with it. Feels like a proper little treat.

Bloody hell! It is lovely but not sure it's £32 worth of lovely!

It's really not. But that's why I love these ridiculous advent calendars 😂

pinkchampagne1 · 01/12/2023 13:16

Wow, I can’t believe it is £32 for that tiny lipstick! It is very cute though

Ooh marking my place. Yes I'm very happy with it. I think I saw somewhere that you can buy charms to attach to the top 🤷🏻‍♀️
I usually get the Liberty advent but fancied a change this year

JulesJules · 01/12/2023 13:38

I've also won a Charlotte Tilbury mascara! Reading along vicariously as I haven't got the advent cal.

mynameiscalypso · 01/12/2023 13:41

I got the mascara thing too but you have to redeem in store within 12 hours. I will be in a John Lewis tomorrow though so hoping there's something good in the app then!

It's 12 hours from when you press 'use in store' so you should be able to get it tomorrow if you haven't pressed it yet. As long as they have stock.

Oh me too! I'd never, ever buy myself a £32 lip balm or £60 face cream/serum or whatever so it's a great change to splurge a bit and be able to try all these things.

@mynameiscalypso I that that you have 12 hours to use the code once it's activated. Mine says it's valid until 12 December. So you should be able to use your code when you're in store tomorrow, along with tomorrow's offering too maybe?

mynameiscalypso · 01/12/2023 14:07

@MyBestFriendKenny Ah, that's helpful, thank you. I'm not sure how much luck I'll have in JL on Oxford Street at 6pm tomorrow but I can try!

Thanks for this: I will happen to be in Leeds JL tomorrow (an hour’s train journey) as I am taking DD2 to see Santa! I must remember to activate the code and collect my goodie (which will be yet another filler for DD1’s stocking).

ithinkmyheadiscavingin · 01/12/2023 17:12

I love the case! Makes it look so lovely and fancy. 😊

Faceplantagain · 01/12/2023 18:25

I can't figure out how to put the lipstick in the case. Any tips???

Remove the lipgloss from the red plastic container push it into the pink section of the fancy holder until it clicks then add the red lid with the charm ring. Good luck! It flummoxed me in the early hours of this morning.

fingfong · 01/12/2023 20:34

So you need to unwind the actual lipstick from the red plastic case, take it out and put it in fancy thing? I'm bound to break it 😫

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 01/12/2023 22:43

Yes, take it out of the plastic case, no unwinding needed, and insert into the base of the fancy one. Give it a gentle push and you’ll feel a click and then it’s safely in place.
