I couldn’t see a thread for the JL calendar and know a few of us have gone for it so thought I would start one. 😃

OMG it's £45!

pinkchampagne1 · 06/12/2023 07:23

Lovely eye shadow palette today. ❤️

I sold my Charlotte Tilbury palette from last year on Vinted as they weren’t my colours.

However much I love Charlotte Tilbury, I’m dissapointed with todays offering as it’s too similar in colours to the last 2 years advent calendar offerings. Would have been nice to have a different colour pallette

mynameiscalypso · 06/12/2023 07:54

Pleased with today's offering. I had to get rid of a lot of my eye makeup earlier this year and haven't really replaced it yet. I would have preferred one of the browns to be slightly darker but that's me being very very picky.

Chickydoo · 06/12/2023 08:16

1st item I won't use. I don't really wear eye shadow. My daughter will have an addition to her Christmas stocking.

pinkchampagne1 · 06/12/2023 08:24

Quite a few of these pallets popping up on Vinted!
I sold last years but think I will give this one a go.

what a fabulous palette! Sadly It really isn't for me with my mid 50's hooded eyelids 😆.. any suggestions of how to sell on please? never done this kind of thing before

I prefer Vinted to sell as I find it really easy to use and there are no seller fees. People do love a bargain though so you have to price competitively and be aware that people will put offers in.

Ingles2 · 06/12/2023 09:46

that's great... I will give it a go thankyou

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 06/12/2023 18:47

Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palette, Walk of No Shame. Good colours for me so happy with this.

The CT colours are very similar to last year which don't suit me. I sold last years but will regift this to a friend who does suit those colours.

I also really don't like the perfume from yesterday regardless of it costing £££. Maybe I need to try on my skin as another poster suggested.

Hoping tomorrow will bring something I'll love.

pinkchampagne1 · 06/12/2023 20:45

I found the perfume smelt better after it had been on a few hours. It is very strong at first.

I am going to give the eyeshadow a go this year.

I quite like the perfume although thought it would last a lot longer on my skin than it did. I used the eyeshadows today but they're a bit too red for me really. I had to blend them with some other browns.

DwightShrutesgirlfriend · 07/12/2023 00:18

I wasn’t sure when I sprayed the perfume on, but someone at work told me I smelt gorgeous 😊

pinkchampagne1 · 07/12/2023 07:33

what do we think of the sleep drops today?
I think I will give them a go as I constantly have broken sleep so anything that might help is worth a try. These are expensive to buy.

OP posts:
Chickydoo · 07/12/2023 07:36

Jury is out with the sleep drops, they might find their way into DH's stocking. Although am tempted to try them myself

pinkchampagne1 · 07/12/2023 07:43

They retail at £69 a bottle in John Lewis and actually get pretty good reviews. Anything that might improve my sleep is worth trying.

OP posts:
Roundaboot · 07/12/2023 07:48

I don't really have any issues with sleep so not something I'd buy but I'll give them a go. Bit of an odd thing for a beauty calendar, IMHO.

pinkchampagne1 · 07/12/2023 07:55

I think it is in the Harvey Nicks calendar too.

Morning 👋🏻happy to give these drops a go as I have very broken sleep thanks to the menopause. Still very happy with what's in the calendar

Me too. I am 51 and for the last few years I have found myself waking about 3am and then not being able to get back to sleep. Happy to give these a go in the hope they improve my sleep quality.

I wish I had a JL advent calendar… the products contained in it look great!

Roundaboot · 07/12/2023 09:21

So, I'm WFH today so can safely try the perfume! I did a couple of small spray and walk throughs as I didn't want to overdo it, and I have to say as it's settling down, I actually really like it. The rose definitely comes through more after a while. If I'd sprayed this on a card in a shop, there's no way I'd choose it - I do love these calendars for giving you the chance to try things you'd never choose for yourself.

Also, I was looking at the Frederic Malle website and saw this on the description of the perfume
"Purchase a 50ml or 100ml bottle and a complimentary 1.2ml sample will be automatically added to your order. By allowing you to trial the perfume from the comfort of your home, should the perfume not be the right fit, you have the choice to return the unopened bottle to us for a reimbursement."
I'm not very familiar with high end perfume retailers so that may be common practice but I thought it was a brilliant idea!

PinkArt · 07/12/2023 10:06

The sleep drops were one of the reasons I bought the JL calendar. I use them regularly as my sleep is pretty terrible. While I'm not sure they make going to sleep any easier, I think they help me stay asleep a bit more.
If anyone really likes them but is horrified by the price, Oto regularly have discounts on thier website so I wait until they have 30%, or even 40% sometimes, off and stock up.

mynameiscalypso · 07/12/2023 11:53

Having had two hours sleep last night, I'm keen to try the drops!

Rshard · 07/12/2023 12:23

Another poor sleeper who is very keen to try the sleep drops. Going away next week and my sleep is even worse in a strange bed, so I I’ll take them with me.
