And the part looking like it has yellow'ed is just because of bad light for taking picture 😊

Snowyowl78 · 28/07/2023 11:36

@Laska2Meryls that said, looking at current stuff some of it does look oversized etc so maybe wouldn’t be as small.
I like the look of that shearling vest!

Laska2Meryls · 28/07/2023 11:36

So this morning DH has completely changed his opinion on the Scout tent trousers... I am strangely drawn.. but too big? What size so you have Stoic and what size are you usually in Toast ? These are the Large but really Not that loose on the waist .. I think M may be a bit tight ( and are oos atm) .. I have the fenugreek balloon trousers in XS!!

Correction, I meant the wool Tilda vest

Noodle421 · 28/07/2023 11:44

ScottishMouse · 28/07/2023 11:00

Yes that’s the ones @Noodle421 . Good to know they have been ok in the heat. Maybe I should give them another go, or at least the more adjustable Lina ones.

They have been ok for me - they are quite roomy so air circulates well and are better than any lace up shoe in the heat, even the canvas/cotton plimsolls. On really hot days, nothing beats my Arizona birkies. I prefer the leather over the suede because they seem to offer better arch support (I have a high instep).

Dee1224 · 28/07/2023 11:46

I am reading the ‘foot change’ posts with interest. I can’t wear flat shoes of any description ever since I had a flare up of plantar fasciitis caused by the plantar muscle of my right foot shrinking due to lying in bed with my foot curled up, (apparently), when I was laid up for three weeks last July. A year on and it’s still not fully recovered.

I have had some success with Hoka trainers, (although you can see them from space and they are not waterproof!) I also have a high heeled pair of trainers from ASOS. I do feel a bit ‘muttony’ in them - I am hardly the right demographic for wearing blingy high-heeled trainers - but they are comfortable 🤣

The best walking sandals ever -imo - are my Keen sandals, which are also really pretty. Unfortunately, they don’t support my PF affected foot enough, but I used to be able to walk in them for hours!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 28/07/2023 11:46

Thanks @BettinaInDenmark I’m the bottom end of a 38 so I may have to try them and see.

Oooh, they look good @laska. lovely shape to them despite the volume. I think they look a good fit

Noodle421 · 28/07/2023 11:51

@Laska2Meryls they look flattering and slimming over the hip and waist area. I had ruled them out because of the large pleats at the waistband but perhaps I ought to try some when they come back into stock. I think they are a clever design.

Stoic123 · 28/07/2023 12:01

@Laska2Meryls - I have then in large.

Size 14 in high street with wide hips and have been taking a Toast M or 12 in old sizes (sometimes a 10).

I like the sligtly exagerated shape of L (on me and on you) and I think the material works well with the cut. It's a personal preference though- I have regretted sizing down too much on Toast before as think it can mean losing the drama/essence of a particular piece.

Gosh - that last sentence was pure Toast! Art installation working it's magic.

clowniform · 28/07/2023 12:05

Thanks for the Sideline tip, it's new to me! I love the shape of several things, how is their fabric quality generally? That is Toast's main selling point for me, now that I sew quite well. Anyone else here who sews and finds sourcing high quality fabrics a struggle?

@ScottishMouse Not sure how helpful as I've never tried Saltwaters, but I chose the Seasalt First chorus sandals in preference to the Fracap Ola as they're much softer and more malleable. I have wide-ish feet and they still feel fine at the end of long days.

First Chorus Closed Toe Leather Shoes

It could do with a quick steam.

Laska2Meryls · 28/07/2023 12:21

Thats the same as mine then and same sizes as I have been taking previously .. would love to see a photo of you in them @Stoic123 if you are comfortable posting one .. I am quite slim hipped but inverted triangle (with too much tummy atm) ..They are very big on the bum , but do go with several things ( especially like them with the olive linen tunic that I bought in the sale) .. I am going to think on them .. In the meantime here is todays slouchy at-home and v old Toast outfit ..
Quite similar to yesterday's!

Laska2Meryls · 28/07/2023 12:24

Oh you did .. They look good on you. I think that you are a bit taller than me.. I am 5'6 ( just!)

Stoic123 · 28/07/2023 12:25

@Laska2Meryls - only about an inch taller but short waisted so v long legs.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/07/2023 12:55

I like the look of both the trousers on you @Stoic123 and @LLaska2Meryls
What height are you @Stoic123 I really like them cropped! They look shorter on you.

Laska2Meryls · 28/07/2023 13:00

I do also but you cant really roll then or tpu lose the detail on the ankle pleat

Countmeout · 28/07/2023 13:39

Do you mean the Taylor vest @Snowyowl78 . I have one from last year.Didn’t give it much wear but tried it on with the Toast viscose crepe dresses this year it feels quite current. I felt a bit like a gardener in it with trousers.

Countmeout · 28/07/2023 13:42

Oh and The Hubshop in Stoke Newington stock some sideline pieces, as do Scout in Dublin. I think I stumbled across somewhere else too last year when I was trying to track down a vest but can’t remember that one.

Stoic123 · 28/07/2023 13:55

@neveradullmoment99 - 5'7" but leg length probably equivalent to couple inches taller.

Countmeout · 28/07/2023 14:00

Snowyowl78 · 28/07/2023 13:48

@Countmeout this one. I probably won’t buy it though as it’s £200
https://www.sideline-clothing.com/shop/p/tilda-vest-black

would you have to pay customs charges from Scout?

Yes that colour is lovely @Snowyowl78 .

I have no idea about customs to mainland uk. I bought from The hub shop. Scout was too many euro last year.

ScottishMouse · 28/07/2023 14:05

Oh they are cute @clowniform ! I didn’t spot your post until I had ordered all the sandals….a pair of Camper Match, a pair of original Tevas, the Fracap Olas and Linas, and a pair of Birkenstock Eva Arizonas!! I’ll have a big sandal try on next week and hopefully one (or even two!) might be keepers.

faustina · 28/07/2023 14:07

@Stoic123 - the trousers look brilliant on you! @Laska2Meryls - I think they look a bit big, and that if you hung on for the M to be restocked they'd probably be better (and also look shorter in the leg). I would persevere because they're lovely

@ScottishMouse - have you tried Arizonas with the soft footbed? As you all now know (since I took up half the thread with my saltwater woes) my feet prefer something with a less flat sole. how about DMs? They have some pretty sandals. Some with flatter soles from Seasalt. Maybe Marni fussbett? (very £££ but look on Vestaire Collective etc).

I bought these this summer from Fitflop and they are wonderful, like walking on little cushions

ScottishMouse · 28/07/2023 14:15

Thanks @faustina , I have some Boston clogs with the soft footbed and they are great, but I find open toe Birkenstocks trickier as I am really between sizes. Thought I’d give the plastic ones a go in case the fit is any different. Plus they’re cheap and there’s also 20% off at JL at the moment.
So will see how I go. Thanks for all the sandal ideas folks!
