I have very narrow, big feet thanks to my Scandinavian roots.
Saltwaters are like walking on cardboard for me as I have high arches,so I wear Teva sandals for serious walking, Ecco or Caprice ( they do nice wedges amongst the boring ones)
Hasbeens or Birkies around the house in Summer.
I can't bear any sandals that make that slapping sound when I walk

neveradullmoment99 · 28/07/2023 09:11

I've also.got saltwaters.
To.get them.to fit well, you have to soak in water with them on.
Maybe also size up? It honestly helps with wide feet. That was a tip.from Clarkson, when my children were young.

@ilovecherries your blue chambray shirt that you are wearing on the previous thread, how does it come up size wise?

ScottishMouse · 28/07/2023 09:31

Thanks for all the sandal thoughts @neveradullmoment99 . I know sizing up in the saltwaters won’t work as I bought the bigger size the first time I bought them and had to sell them on.
I remember that about soaking them first. Don’t want to do it though if I then decide they are still too tight and want to return them.
Like @mizu, I think my flat sandal days might be over so might have to give up on them anyway. I thought it was because my old ones are so worn away on the sole, but maybe I need more support these days.
I also tried the size up in the Fracap and they were far too long. I often have this problem - need a size up for the width but then they are too long.
Quite tempted by some plain black original style Tevas for comfort, but will they look awful with dresses?

ScottishMouse · 28/07/2023 09:46

I do love the look of canvas type trainers like the novestas (I have some similar ones) with dresses but when it’s anything above 20 degrees my feet get far too hot for trainers.
I’m actually thinking the Fracap might be too covered in for this reason too. How does anyone find them in the heat?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 28/07/2023 09:46

@neveradullmoment99 are the novestas true to size? I quite like the masala and sedlova colours toast have got.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/07/2023 09:48

Omg! New sideline AW stuff is gorgeous!

mizu · 28/07/2023 10:00

@ScottishMouse I'm living in my Birkenstock Zurich at the mo as well as Arizonas (although the cork has split on one side).

And I have a pair of black Teva which I wear a lot too which are very comfortable.

Aaarrgghh, now my wish list is really long! I’ve never tried anything from Sideline, is it TTS or weird like Toast?

Laska2Meryls · 28/07/2023 10:20

Oh FFS !! @neveradullmoment99 Must you?!!!
Have you seen the amount of stuff I already have ?? And now you go and show us Sideline? 😍

Snowyowl78 · 28/07/2023 10:27

@Saurus72 sideline is small, well you might say true to size it may be that I’m used to toast! I am a 14 and ordered a load of stuff last season in- medium and everything was too small. You also have to pay for returns so not much margin for error. Beautiful stuff though!

Ooooh!!!
Gorgeous
That whistle dress is very similar to the toast fayre dress but I prefer the details and colour of the Sideline one.
Not buying atm so will admire only 7

Toast? The only thing I can add is I love cheese and marmite on my toast, 2 slices, filling in the middle, squashed together!

Do you mean the Fracap fisherman style shoes? I’ve been wearing mine for weeks and find them cooler than novesta pumps. Hard to gauge during this current cool weather but I found them very comfortable tramping around town on some hot days we had June / early July.

Oh that's good ( for me @Snowyowl78 ) removes the temptation..
So after yesterday's Emma tee rant.. I noticed today that they had sent me a size L tee with an XL label.. ( This is the second time this has happened with a Toast garment in a few weeks - so something going wrong with their production labelling processes? )
So all may not be lost as to me being able to continue to wear Toast as a 'larger!?' size 14/16 person.. But it remains the fact that the new size L is much smaller than the old.. In fact I have a v old Emma size S ( bought in error in JL sale but couldn't send back and it fitted but a bit short so do wear it ) which is the same size as the new Toast L !
Ill post photo s ina bit ..

Stravaig · 28/07/2023 10:44

😍 Sideline remind me of early years Toast, in that they're quietly doing their own thing, with a highly selective collection, all of which is interesting.

(Instead of following some slight variation on whatever is supposed to be fashionable, like everyone else.)

Nothing's been quite right for me yet, but I'm always intrigued and happy to see what they've come up with each season.

ScottishMouse · 28/07/2023 11:00

Yes that’s the ones @Noodle421 . Good to know they have been ok in the heat. Maybe I should give them another go, or at least the more adjustable Lina ones.

Laska2Meryls · 28/07/2023 11:12

So here is an old Emma tee sz L ( paler blue, was purchased from this years spring collection and so far only worn and washed once ) and the New sz L navy..Old Emma sz L a in pale blue is 23in pit to pit and 25in at base 24in long
New Navy sz L Emma is 21in pit to pit 24in at base and 23in long..

Both of my Sz S and the new L are navy so the don't photo well to show size contrast but Old sz Small Navy Emma is 21.5 in pit to pit , 25 in width at base and 23in long .. This has also only been worn once as I replaced it with a larger size when I realised my mistake ..
So Toast new sizing (along with their price rises) definitely constitute a clear case of Shrinkflation 😡

Laska2Meryls · 28/07/2023 11:13

I bought those. M&S sandals above in tan and have worn them lots .. They were a great buy.. but sadly they look pretty much oos now...

BettinaInDenmark · 28/07/2023 11:25

@ScottishMouse I have had problems with swelling feet for decades, so am also needing sandals hat will be able to accommodate my feet when they grow in warm weather. I have found several nice pairs from Chie Mihara - you can buy directly from her website chiemihara.com

Dee1224 · 28/07/2023 11:31

I like the look of that Sideline dress in the blue floral- also the wine version. However, their postage is pricy and I hate the idea of having to email them to ask permission to return, (which is what the instructions on their website imply).

Is it correct that they are online only?

BettinaInDenmark · 28/07/2023 11:31

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I have the Novesta plimsolls in Cactus and White. I am in the top end of size 39, and they fit me well in 39.

BettinaInDenmark · 28/07/2023 11:33

I found a blast from the past - well, at least couple of years - tucked in at the back of a shelf in my wardrobe. Pricetag still on. I think it looks like one of the dresses recently in the sale?
