@dudsville the number thing does help, but I was always taught check twice cut once and that gets me out of tricky corners. There's some good Merchant & Mills patterns that are straightforward.

Btw I also bought the Oar dress (looks great on you, nice length) and also put another button on the bottom as it was a bit flappy.. my pale bare legs 😅

MiracleToast · 02/07/2023 10:51

@AFingerofFudge do you recommend selling on vinted? I have some things that aren’t really vintage enough for my shop on Etsy so am considering my options

AFingerofFudge · 02/07/2023 10:58

@MiracleToast actually I don't! I've been messed around a bit and I find you don't tend to get the higher prices of eBay.

The fees on eBay have put me off in recent years but someone on this thread mentioned that eBay sometimes they reduce their fees and I got an email from them this weekend offering 80% off their fees so I might give them a go again!

I also tried the Facebook Toast page but I was messed around last week by someone and so I'll probably also give that a miss!!

Laska2Meryls · 02/07/2023 11:18

It does look good @dudsville . I think that its the same shape as the green linen shirt dress that I have and love , ( but thats not button all the way doen.. odd that they have left the opening so high.. If there is a spare button , how about sewing it on the outside of where your popper is? That should make it look like its a proper extra button ..
I am wondering now if I should also order the L.. same size my peacock shirt dress , but thats ' old' sizing... Hmm ..🤔

MiracleToast · 02/07/2023 11:56

@AFingerofFudge thank you, that’s useful lived experience.

Sorry to hear you’ve been messed about—hope better luck comes soon.

dudsville · 02/07/2023 12:03

Thanks for the advice and recommendation @Architektin , I did try them too, I cannot stress enough how much I struggle with numbers! It's not just me, any clothing website, if I put my measuresments in, also say I should be wearing an 18. I'm a strong 12/14 and at that my clothes are still loosely fitted. My body seems to be a reverse tardis.

That's a great idea @Laska2Meryls ! The lower buttons are covered by a placket though so the trickery isn't needed!

faustina · 02/07/2023 12:43

@Snowyowl78 - I don't think the orange bag is likely to go into the sale now. Maybe the next sale?

@Dee1224 - I think it was you with all the badly made clothes? Some of those defects I might not have spotted, but you're right, once you've seen them, you can't ignore

Snowyowl78 · 02/07/2023 12:54

@faustina seems sadly not. I was thinking maybe the fading summer sale, although I’m less likely to buy a bright orange bag in September. They are a bit cheaper on the BDC website but they don’t have those colours

faustina · 02/07/2023 12:58

@Snowyowl78 - Bleu de chauffe have good sales and special offers from time to time, but you have to do all the Brexit things yourself (customs fees etc) - I have asked them. It's such a shame as they have some really wonderful colours on there. Hardly anyone stocks them in the UK

Dee1224 · 02/07/2023 12:59

@faustina - yes, once I have noticed something ‘off’ it drives me mad. It was my DH that spotted that one pocket on the Pond was an inch lower than the other - so obvious once he’d pointed it out, but I would have missed it until too late!

There are a few other things in the sale that I would like to try instead, but Toast owe me lots of money in refunds, so think I will have to wait until at least some of it is refunded!

Architektin · 02/07/2023 13:27

@dudsville I feel your pain about clothes fitting.. I'm always trying to adjust/sew them. I'm not really meant for Toast clothes, nothing ever truly fits, I'm a classic hourglass 😄I usually end up cinching everything in with a belt or look like the outside of the Tardis, rectangular, with a head and feet.
But I won't give up Toast!!

PretLea · 02/07/2023 15:23

Anyone on the shorter side have the drawstring waist denim jumpsuit? It looks so beautiful, but at 5’4 I’m thinking way too long. I’m usually a 6 or 8 too…

Snowyowl78 · 02/07/2023 18:24

@faustina oh good point, I hadn’t thought about the customs issue, probably not a good idea

Laska2Meryls · 02/07/2023 19:14

Do we think ( given that theres a kindred styling thing on that day , I think ? )
that the sale will end Tuesday?

Countmeout · 02/07/2023 19:20

I thought maybe Thursday @Laska2Meryls as the main event isn’t until the following Tuesday. Mind you I’m sick looking at the stuff that’s hanging about.

Laska2Meryls · 02/07/2023 19:26

Yes, me too!

AFingerofFudge · 02/07/2023 19:46

I was hoping for a "final reductions" (not that I need it!!)

dudsville · 02/07/2023 20:12

It's definitely got to the dregs of the sale.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/07/2023 21:07

Dee1224 · 02/07/2023 08:49

Hi, @neveradullmoment99 here are the pictures. I have tried to show the wonkiness!

Thanks for posting. Yes the stitching isn't good at all! I definitely see what you mean. It's pretty wonky.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/07/2023 21:11

I checked mine and it's all good. Round the collar it is perfect. Haven't checked around the seam on the skirt part. That is a real shame.

Dee1224 · 02/07/2023 21:28

Glad yours is ok @neveradullmoment99 - my dress is all packed away and ready to be returned tomorrow, together with the broad check dress and top. (If anyone is looking for either - there is nothing wrong with them, just wrong size for me🙃)

Last orders - one tee, one socks arriving tomorrow!

neveradullmoment99 · 02/07/2023 22:40

Well I had mine since January sales. Maybe another will come back in stock? Sizing is a bit of an issue with this dress. It's easy to order the dress in the wrong size.

Snowyowl78 · 03/07/2023 09:27

I got the new crinkle jumpsuit today, I was a bit surprised because it arrived rolled up in a big knot and tied up with string! Seems like Toast have gone a bit off piste this season! I really like it but it’s very neat on the top bit. I need a Large. Not sure if it will work because the trouser bit is fine and the Large might be too baggy. Not sure about the crinkling though, looks very creased and not sure if I’m down with that!
I may reorder or wait for it to turn up in a future sale.

Countmeout · 03/07/2023 09:42

It said to tie the crinkle stuff up to wash I think I read somewhere @Snowyowl78 .

I think sometimes they get carried away by a theme which they translate into clothing without regard for the real people who actually want to buy their clothes.
Looking at the paintings in the windows on Instagram I’m waiting for a tutu to appear. They just have that feel.

Architektin · 03/07/2023 10:05

Re crinkles..
There's always a few items in each new seasonal addition that push my boundaries, usually the more expensive artisan ones!

At 5' 4'' some of it wears me rather than me wearing it. I think I can't wear that or don't like it, but as the months go on I give it a go!

I suspect that they are going to really push boundaries, as their last marketing email I saw said something about playing with proportions .
🙄😅

I love the Bryn dress, I have 6, some duplicates that I got in sale and have dyed. I wear them as work uniforms!
But this new batch is sadly too bright for my soft autumn/scandi colouring.
