Holiday Princessing Thread - who’s in?

tigerbear · 11/04/2023 10:52

Anyone up for a summer holiday princess thread? (Apologies if there’s already one, I did have a look and couldn’t see any)

I’m on countdown to holiday in the South of France at the end of July, and have never been so out of shape and lacking in style in my life, so desperately need to get on it. Really don’t want to be the one hiding under a towel at the pool/beach AGAIN!

I’m 45, have 1.5 stone to lose, and want to cut down the alcohol, sugar and coffee, as also want my skin to look better (suffer from regular spots, as well as peri menopausal dryness and redness - yay!)
Other stuff to do: take vitamins/cod liver oil every day / apply lash serum every day.

I began exercise yesterday, with 30 Day Shred session (always worked for me in the past) and dog walk. Today have done a 1 hour PT session.

Anyone else want to begin now, and have a bit of support?

@Wishona i take Superself Marine Collagen (think it was recommended on here on Swears By), bought from Amazon.
my nails are in great condition, so maybe making a difference.

I also had my highlights done last week, and not best pleased with them - way too light. @Wishona i bought the L’Oréal purple toner shampoo, and it toned them down a bit.

Have hit all exercise targets so far this week, and been doing the fasting since Monday. I already feel a bit lighter, and much fitter 👍

My smear was fine. She commented on how relaxed I was…maybe the legs helped 🤣

I’m sticking to my targets. I’ve also finished off Decleor comforting body milk. This had a lovely texture, but smelt a bit strong.

Waxing tonight, then I’ll re tan tomorrow or the next day.

Exercise I can’t do tonight because of the waxing, I did 2 hours yesterday and the day before though.

Im thinking of getting a toner for my hair, I had some lighter bits at the end and I’m not sure I like them…hairdresser not till the end of May so I might do this myself.

What collagen does everyone take? @tigerbear @LivingDeadGirlUK

Do you have bleached hair? I thought so many times about toning my hair at home between visits, but I'm too scared something will go wrong.

xogossipgirlxo · 20/04/2023 10:58

Oh I can't tell you how many times I missed on going out to the beach etc. because of not accepting myself. I looked fine 🙄It's terrible, isn't it. Who to blame for the way we see our bodies? Ourselves? Mass media? Society?

RudolfsLeftToe · 20/04/2023 11:00

This thread has been a great inspiration! I started this week and I’ve been lowish carb-ing, I’ve done a workout every day and been upping my skin and body care routines.
I’m going away with friends at the start of July and would like to lose 1.5 stone by then and look a bit better in general.
In the spirit of the thread I’ve been using my “good” skin care and body creams after I found 3 unopened Liz Earle body care box sets under my bed that I was saving for best.
So far I’ve done a 5k run, I’ll go for a walk later and finish off with a swim tonight!

Wishona · 20/04/2023 11:12

@xogossipgirlxo
my hair is very dark shade 4/5, but yes I have some balayage at the moment…caramel ish. But planning a dark toner.

@RudolfsLeftToe Im enjoying just basting myself in all the nice creams. When they’re done I’ll have less clutter and just buy some cocoa butter!
I often consider swimming, I only wash my hair every 5 days though so I’d want to sync it with that.

RudolfsLeftToe · 20/04/2023 13:00

@Wishona me too and my legs are feeling much smoother but the swimming seems to be having an opposite Princess effect and my hair isn’t feeling great. I’m going to do a hair mask tomorrow and keep it on for a few hours.

I'm using a bovine collagen supplement from Amazon, only been using it about 2 weeks so can't confirm if its doing anything yet!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Advanced-Collagen-Strength-Capsules-Supplements/dp/B0BGSPLXGZ/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=bovine+collagen+capsules&qid=1681993935&sprefix=bovi%2Caps%2C91&sr=8-7

There is marine collagen too and I'm not sure if there is a difference bar one being suitable for vegetarians.

Also I'm sure you were joking about the hairy legs but nurses have seen it all and really don't give a shit about how we look when we turn up as long as we do!

Definitely better use nice skincare now, than waiting until it goes out of date. Skincare requires consistency anyway and I always feel like having spa day or nice facial when I apply all these serums etc.

I was joking, it’s wax day today 🙂

I always think about when I used to work in a health centre, back in the day of metal speculums, the autoclave was in my room. The practice nurse never knocked and would just burst in with a tray full 🤣

I used to use the SH clinic too and we also shared a room, so when they arrived to set up we just switched chairs 😆

But agree, as long as you are clean, no one cares.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 20/04/2023 19:13

I've popped some nail growth stuff on today, problem is I don't want them to grow long but rather thicken up and not be so brittle.

Wishona · 21/04/2023 21:29

Im keeping up with my goals.

Think I’ll focus on a hair one next and do a weekly mask. Any recommendations?

Used up Aveeno Baby Daily Care. I actually would buy this one again. It feels lovely and it doesn’t smell too strong.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 22/04/2023 07:42

Has anyone tried a hair growth serum? I have very thin hair especially at the front of my head and I've been so tempted by this after seeing various influences push them but it is expensive if its bullshit!

BeautBastard · 23/04/2023 19:52

@LivingDeadGirlUK my hairdresser said to take a biotin supplement for hair. I've tried the Grow Gorgeous hair serum, ok not miraculous. About to start the rosemary oil thing that has been popping up on tik tok etc, and I can recommend one of those head massage brushes ( mine was about £5 in TKMaxx) because they feel lovely so it's one of the few beauty things that doesn't become a chore.

BeautBastard · 23/04/2023 19:59

I'd like to join please! I'm 45 and I want to sort out a decent summer wardrobe and tone up - I don't have any significant weight to lose, half a stone max but poor health means I've not been exercising enough. My goals are 3 x reformer pilates a week, taking vitamins daily, 10,000 steps a day, and to use my foreo bear every day. Oh and drink less alcohol!

OrangeSpicedBun · 23/04/2023 22:57

Hi all..dropping in to join. I managed to sort my keratosis pilaris out after years following one of these threads !

I've started 16:8 this week, feel so much better / less bloated/ can concentrate more.

I'm 44 and veery overweight but will change that. My holiday is to Turkey in May. So I'm in it for long haul really. I just want to feel better for the summer. I always feel really down around this time of year because of my weight/ skin/hair. I want to be more proactive to ward off those feelings.

About to book a Winter Sun holiday for January 24, will be the Canaries.

xogossipgirlxo · 24/04/2023 10:02

Morning all. One of weekend days is always a day where I allow myself a bit of rubbish diet, so it happened yesterday 😬Back to healthy eating, especially that it's exactly 4 weeks left until my holidays.
I've done pedicure yesterday and noticed cracked heel! Dammit. Need to work on this before wearing sandals. I heard Flexitol is good, so might give it a try.

tigerbear · 24/04/2023 11:13

@xogossipgirlxo same here, weekends always more relaxed on the eating front - have had chocolate, pizza, wine, pancakes etc
Despite that, the scales are moving in the right direction! Think the fasting is working, and will continue with it. 👍

Hi all, dyed hair a few days ago, it’s a bit dark but all the same colour which is great! Did a fab face mask over the weekend so on the way! Enjoy everyone!

xogossipgirlxo · 24/04/2023 11:59

@tigerbear well done! I normally try to eat 14:10. What eating window do you have? I don't do IF since I'm pregnant, but I eat i.e. at 7pm and then breakfast between 9 and 10AM, to give body a bit of break.

xogossipgirlxo · 24/04/2023 12:00

Well, it looks like I have 14 hours break anyway, but not intentionally. If I eat after 7pm because I'm hungry, I'm fine with it, since my stomach feels bit funny in pregnancy.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 24/04/2023 12:38

It's my time of the month and I've broken out is spots, feel bloated, and have gobbled a load of chocolate! Not ideal at all :/

tigerbear · 24/04/2023 14:25

@xogossipgirlxo as advised by others on this thread, I’m only eating between 11am and 7pm, and finding it quite easy to stick to (apart from when I’ve had a drink 😬)

@LivingDeadGirlUK get back on it! Maybe doing a workout or something might make you feel a bit better, or yoga/swimming? I’m currently trying to gear myself up to do the Shred this afternoon, after a few days off, but always feel better for having done it.

OP posts:
LivingDeadGirlUK · 24/04/2023 14:30

What is the benifit only eating between 11am-7pm?

Comedycook · 24/04/2023 16:21

Weekend was good...I fell off the dieting wagon yesterday but not too spectacularly! I've now lost about 9lb. Dyed my hair last week...was very happy with the colour. Went out out at the weekend 😂and had a great time...feel much better after my recent weight loss although I still have quite a bit to lose. Got dressed up and did my nails and thought I looked ok. Gave me a boost anyway... enjoying reading everyone's updates.

PeacheyPeach · 24/04/2023 20:45

Evening all xx can I join all you princesses 👸
Have booked a holiday at the end of May so have 5 weeks to sort myself out! Not sure how successful I'll be !
Have booked my hair appointment for next week so my hair will feel nice again
Am back on 16:8 fasting and I might try and lay off the wine at the weekends for now as it makes me eat crazy!!
Going to start my exercise routine each day.
Hopefully even if I can shift a couple of pounds so I feel a bit more comfortable in my bikini
