@Maireas will there be a reference to Quality Street in the next thread title? 🤣

Brilliant suggestion!

Quality Street + Coronation = Road to Coronation Street

Spudlet · 14/02/2023 19:01

I could absolutely murder a Quality Street now though. While also being genuinely impressed by Max’s ability to look stylish while channeling a toffee penny 😂

StartupRepair · 14/02/2023 19:22

Max really covers the whole quality street palette in her own.

Intrigued by the dowry. At what point in the proposal was it mentioned? What if she hadn't been rich?

He knew she was rich. He had a list of possible wives.
She wanted the kudos and status, he wanted a rich beautiful wife. Ta da.

It's the BAFTAs this weekend and Kate and William are expected to attend, so we should at least get some glamour. I wonder if she'll go new or rewear? Or maybe rental?

justasking111 · 14/02/2023 19:32

She stands out in the montage that's for sure.

Watching a documentary on Mary of Teck this week what an extraordinary woman. Her dedication to duty was a mantle her grand daughter took on. They said she was a great influence on young Elizabeth. She also had the sweetest smile that I recognised at once.

She was very intelligent and intuitive a great asset that Victoria recognised in the young woman.

Elizabeth Bowes Lyon never came across to me as an intellectual, but rather a loving mother who fitted in well.

I read this biography a few years ago. Grace family were interesting. Loose connection with the Kennedy clan I seem to recall

Maireas · 14/02/2023 19:41

At one point I got very interested in Grace and read quite a few books about her. It's a really fascinating story.

My mouths watering now!😂

justasking111 · 14/02/2023 19:50

Forty pages. That's gone fast. We'll have to have Fabergé eggs for the Easter time instalment 😂

justasking111 · 14/02/2023 19:51

Camilla is said to be reworking queen Mary crown using some stones from existing jewellery

Maireas · 14/02/2023 20:20

Yes, incorporating the Cuillinan gems replacing the more controversial Koh-i-Noor.

I saw a headline today saying the Queen has covid and thought for a moment I'd gone back in time!!

Maireas · 14/02/2023 21:08

I know what you mean - I can't get used to The Prince of Wales not being Charles!
