If money was no object what is the no.1. perfume you've ever tried?

Lots of love for old Body Shop scents .
@LizzieVereker it does seem that Paris might be similar to Roma

Just remembered another old favourite - Ghost Serenity.

EternalSunshine19 · 30/12/2022 21:43

I'm so picky when it comes to perfume. My all time favourite was the limited edition Kingdom by Alexander McQueen. It was soooo amazing! But because it was limited edition it was never gonna be around forever. You see them being sold for over £100 on ebay now but i can't justify it. I just wish they would bring it back, but i don't think they will. Especially since Alexander McQueen is no longer with us. My go to perfume now is Stella by Stella McCartney

Gentle fluidity Gold, Maison Francis kurkdjian.

oceanbleu · 30/12/2022 21:51

I'm back to add Diptyque philosykos. Recently got given a sample and wish it wasn't out of my budget right now! It's so very lovely.

ReallyNeedingSleep · 31/12/2022 00:07

My favourites that I can still buy are l'eau D'issey, Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle, Jo Malone Wild Bluebell and Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt.
I'd love to be able to buy Marc Jacobs eau de parfum (square bottle, black lid, most gorgeous aquatic gardinea scent), Issey Miyake A Scent and Stella McCartney Stella again though 😔

Justcashnosweets · 31/12/2022 10:12

Tuberose Angelica by Jo Malone. I just finished my bottle recently but can't afford to replace it!

Deathraystare · 31/12/2022 11:08

All time fave - Mitsouko, followed very quickly on its heels by Dior Hypnotic poison, followed by Shalimar, Rochas Femme, SJP Lovely, Fidj.i and Cachet (which I have trouble getting

Shortpoet · 31/12/2022 11:13

Vivienne Westwood Boudoir.

lovely sexy fragrance. I used to get lots of compliments on it. Sadly discontinued.

I have an unopened bottle and I just checked it is selling for over £500 on eBay! Don’t think I can bring myself to sell it though.

LizzieVereker · 31/12/2022 12:53

Thanks to @PicturesOfDogs and @Theheartmustpausetobreathe for suggesting YSL Paris as reverse dupe(iyswim) for Body Shop’s Roma. It is similarish but there’s a sort of “tang” that’s missing. I really appreciate any suggestions though!

For those who were fans of Cosmetics To Go, I’m sure you know they partly morphed into Lush, and there is also a book about the company:

Should also add, Issey Miyake L'eau D'issey Summer 2017 edition, I still treasure my bottle and bring it out every so often for a nostalgia trip, I bought it after I had gone through a rough patch in my life and the amount of joy and pleasure it brings me is immense happy sigh

Hi there,
Anyone out there who has ever worn Penhaligon's perfume? Could you advise on which one you think is the best?

Thanks

LightDrizzle · 11/08/2024 12:58

Roma was lovely! I had it.

Mine is Fracas by Robert Piguet. It’s been my signature scent for over 20 years.

GettingStuffed · 11/08/2024 14:35

Maison Margiela's by the fireside. It's most definitely a winter scent.

JMAngel1 · 11/08/2024 16:56

Summer. Good Girl Gone Bad by Killian
Autumn. Allure. Chanel or YSL Libre Exteme
Winter. Tom Ford. Lost Cherry or Angel
Share by Killian (literally can’t choose!)
Spring. Rose de Delina by Marly (none of the dupes come close to how fantastic the original is)

However my all time favourite all year round which isn’t too prohibitive is Narciso Rodriguez for Her EDT (absolutely NOT the EDP which I hate!!).

This would be my very close third for winter scent - stunning on the coldest coldest of days

I bought a Penhaligons tester set but they were all spicey or heavy and I really couldn’t get on with any of them

There are so many scents there you’re best to try a few in person,

I’m not sure what I’d go for tbh. I tried all the Liz Earle scents ( not all at once) but didn’t like any of them. My old favourite 15 smells rubbery now.
i think my sense of smell has been killed by covid

tried Shay and Blue Blood Orange. Smelled of nothing.
Molecule 1 didn’t work on me either

My favourite blast from the past was a Marks and Spencer Formula in a clear frosted bottle - originally flat oval then tall cylindrical

WhisperTree · 11/08/2024 18:29

Three or four of Gucci's Alchemist's Garden series were lush, but they were £300+ a bottle, and I just couldn't justify spending on that instead of the kids' music lessons. Sigh. I do so adore wafting around in a cloud of otherworldly scent...

Yupdowop · 11/08/2024 19:55

I loved Chaos by Donna Karan too. I blew my whole weeks budget on it on the first day of my first ever school trip abroad, and didn’t regret it for a second . I’d love a whiff of it now just to transport me back to my teens.

PurpleSneakers · 12/08/2024 05:12

Another vote for Fracas by Robert Piguet. Delicious!

sparklesandsparkles · 12/08/2024 05:37

Armani passione si

Cantonet · 12/08/2024 09:52

Mito by Vero Profumo.
I think it's been sadly discontinued.
It was the greenest foliage-rich most galbanum heavy perfume I've ever tested - just beautiful.

MonkeyTennis34 · 12/08/2024 19:35

I mistakenly opened a parcel today and ...it's Portrait of a Lady perfume!
I've been dropping massive hints to DH re my birthday.

Unless it's a Love Actually situation, I'm veeeeery excited!

I tried it in Liberty a few weeks ago to see what all the hype was about and loved it. If you like longevity, this one's for you.
