If money was no object what is the no.1. perfume you've ever tried?

I haven't really tried on that many really expensive perfumes but really liked Roja Danger Femme when I tried it.

Is that your question though? What expensive perfumes have you tried? Or the best perfume, regardless of money. Thing is I can barely remember what Danger smelt like now coz I didn't buy it 🤷🏻‍♀️

oceanbleu · 28/12/2022 21:41

Penhaligons halfeti

Best perfume regardless of money.

So if you could have one perfume for free and not worry about the cost what would it be. Can be cheap can be pricey- just looking for the best.

I’ve worn lots of different perfumes from very inexpensive, to expensive ones which I’ve been fortunate to be gifted.

Weirdly if there was one perfume I’d nominate as “best ever” it would be a very inexpensive Body Shop perfume from the late 80s called “Roma”. They did it as an oil, and an EDT. I would pay a FORTUNE for a bottle now, or to have the recipe and have it made bespoke. Body Shop don’t respond to my emails though.

I change my mind regularly but voting for Vaara by Penhaligons right now.

PacificState · 28/12/2022 22:02

Mine's an old Bodyshop one too! (Their 'earth' perfume from the late '90s - was part of some cod-ayurvedic range). Absolutely blissful smell that I've never been able to find anywhere else.

SharpLily · 28/12/2022 22:07

Stella Nude by Stella McCartney. Sadly discontinued years ago and I've never found anything as good to replace it with. I wear Gucci Bloom now but it's nowhere near as nice.

I am very fussy about scent and smells and "go off" things I used to like. There are two that I would probably immerse myself in every day and buy huge bottles of. One is Casbah by Piguet - possibly the one real frankincense-type scent that I think smells real. The other, which I've used for about four years now is "India" by MB Parfums. It's a tiny niche brand, and all the ingredients used are completely natural - could be why my nose still likes it!

This was apparently a dupe of YSL ‘Paris’.

I’ve not tried it though, so can’t comment as to whether that’s accurate

londonmomforlove · 28/12/2022 22:21

Penhaligon Empressa for sure. Long lasting and smell doesn't turn sour over time.

Jo Malone Wild Bluebell and Red Roses are my favorites too

FlamingJingleBells · 28/12/2022 22:26

Ester Lauder Desert Eden

DuncanBiscuits · 28/12/2022 22:28

Chanel 19. Costs a fair whack, worth every penny.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 28/12/2022 22:29

The original 'Om' by Gap in the late 90s. I would pay a ton for that now.

Also the original Envy for Men by Gucci.

Body Shop here too - their Woody Sandalwood oil from the 80s was incredible.

Adventurisoutthere · 28/12/2022 22:31

Chanel Gabrielle essence - it lasts all day and is definitely worth it

BBK2121 · 28/12/2022 22:42

i Absolutely love Miss Dior - always get lots of compliments when wearing that
also a fan of Bottega Veneta - Illusione

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/12/2022 22:45

I thought it was Penhaligons Halfeti but I treated myself to a bottle and it just doesn't seem to stay on me - I can smell it on my clothes days later, but it just disappears on my skin.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/12/2022 22:46

@SharpLily Agree re Stella Nude - used to love that.

misssunshine4040 · 28/12/2022 23:13

Jean Paul Gaultier Classique.
I've loved since it was first released and buy it every year

MintyPrincess · 28/12/2022 23:16

Delina by parfums de marly and portrait of a lady by Frederick malle

blisstwins · 28/12/2022 23:16

Gucci envy—discontinued
laura ashley #1 from the 1980s

PegasusReturns · 28/12/2022 23:20

My favourite is whatever Im wearing at any given time. Today it’s Dear Polly

katesbushh · 28/12/2022 23:23

New West by Aramis.
90s and discontinued.

Failing that
Womanity by Mugler is my fave.

Passmethecrisps · 28/12/2022 23:24

I remember one I listed after from Cosmetics to Go in the 90s. I could
Never afford a bottle but used to carry around a tester pad and just inhale deeply
until it was all gone.

I would love to smell it again to see if it’s as appealing to a considerably older me

Passmethecrisps · 28/12/2022 23:26

The perfume I consider my signature is l'eau d'issey and I am continually in a state of panic that it becomes discontinued

StrawHatOnTheParcelShelf · 28/12/2022 23:27

If money was no object I'd have the full Chanel range on display, including the special editions. My dresser would look like the Chanel counter at a department store!

But as it is very much an object, I'm just enjoying the Gabrielle I was given for a special birthday.
