Evening Royal style and beauty fans.
Into the Carolean era, with more bling we hope! Also more state banquets?

Heh! I can’t actually definitively answer that...

I haven’t been home in quite a few years by now and only have my own impression of her from what I can glean from the press. So I don’t really know what the average, ordinary Dane thinks of her.

I thought she came across just a little bit too full of herself in the television Birthday interview she did (which one of the many, many commemorative events was that again?? Wink ) but on the other hand I suppose it’s rather easy to end up thinking you’re all that when you’re a crown princess.

NiqueNique · 28/09/2022 17:52

@Tassen yes that’s what I think most people were expecting to happen. Certainly Joachim, Marie and Alexandra seem just as taken aback as everyone else is. I can’t quite imagine how the princes and princess must feel about it...

KillingMeDeftly · 28/09/2022 17:55

I found the amount of celebrations quite staggering, especially considering Maxima, who's a queen, had turned 50 the previous year and only had a big cake!

KillingMeDeftly · 28/09/2022 17:56

SenecaFallsRedux · 28/09/2022 17:17

It's not the same as in Sweden, though. Madeleine and Carl Philp's children lost HRH, but they still have the title prince/princess, as I understand it.

And it sounded like the king consulted with CP and Madeleine. Whereas this announcement seems to be very sudden.

NiqueNique · 28/09/2022 17:58

Yes it was a little too celebrity-like for my liking, if I’m honest. One shouldn’t have more made of one’s birthday than is made of one’s mother-in-law’s Golden Jubilee, IMO!

But on the other hand she does come across as a perfectly likeable, perfectly nice woman.

NiqueNique · 28/09/2022 17:59

@KillingMeDeftly yes. I don’t quite want to say it but it almost seems as if Margrethe is suddenly tying up loose ends. Which could be a worrying thing if one wanted to read into it.

justasking111 · 28/09/2022 18:10

Margarethe is clearing the decks brave move. Someone had to do something sooner or later they must have felt. Princess Anne was a wise young woman cutting her children loose from the start

mathanxiety · 28/09/2022 18:39

Thank you for the Instagram photos of the RF cousins.
The Duchess of Gloucester is one of my favourite members of the family, always looking both regal and approachable.

Young Alexander Ogilvy is the dead spit of Angus Ogilvy.

What do we think of the Ogilvy tiara, peeps?

MidtoLon · 28/09/2022 19:16

Princess Anne was at Bangor on Dee race meeting today

Tassen · 28/09/2022 17:49

It doesn't sound very fair to take their title away, as it seems like losing a bit of your identity.
Surely it would be far better to say that from this point onwards only the future heir to the throne's children will have titles, so when Prince Christian is first in line to the throne his children will all be princes/princesses but Princesses Isabella & Josephine & Prince Vincent's children will just be Counts & Countesses.

And the same thing happens when Christian is King & so on.

Would be fairer

I agree with this principle when slimming down the monarchy 👍

As an aside, if nobody has bagged the Ogilvy tiara, please may I have it? It is very lovely!

If nobody will take on the royal racehorses, I will gladly take them off their hands 😉

gluenotsoup · 28/09/2022 20:38

I like the Ogilvy tiara! Very pretty. Flora O looked lovely on her wedding day, very soft. I also liked the pink them, and Sophie W looked fab.

Maireas · 28/09/2022 20:40

@Eaumyword - Ogilvy tiara ✔️
Plus Royal racehorses!
(Do I have to start an animals spreadsheet?)

OP posts:
Eaumyword · 28/09/2022 20:44

No need for an animal spreadsheet @Maireas
Let me make it easy and take them all in, starting with Emma the pony and the corgi's! 🤭

gluenotsoup · 28/09/2022 20:45

🤦🏻‍♀️Only if I can wear my tiara and green coat while trotting around on one..

SenecaFallsRedux · 28/09/2022 20:47

I want the Corgis, but this girl does not like to share the love.

Oh @SenecaFallsRedux - that little face! Those ears!
You clearly know Corgis, so we could do a side deal, you could take them in if I could keep anything equine (I'm a horsey gal!)

SenecaFallsRedux · 28/09/2022 21:11

@Eaumyword It's a deal. I've had Corgis for more than 40 years, but I fell off a horse when I was 15 and never got back on.

Oh my goodness she’s so cute 🥰
I have to admit that the sight of the Corgis and Emma the pony at the late Queens funeral was too much for me, so sad

KillingMeDeftly · 28/09/2022 23:01

I'm not an animal fan (HMQ would be appalled) so I'll keep the tiaras TYVM!

MotherofPearl · 28/09/2022 23:09

Interesting catching up on all the royal news today, especially from the Danish RF. All sounds quite dramatic.

CPM herself has been out and about in this Alexander McQueen suit in a Prince of Wales check. I wonder if Kate will be fuming that she didn't snap it up first?!

Kate has worn a blazer in the Prince of Wales check back when she was a mere duchess of Cambridge.

CliffsofMohair · 28/09/2022 23:49

Only here for the DRF news.

very hard on the grandchildren to have their revoked without warning, even if it makes sense in principle

StartupRepair · 29/09/2022 00:25

Seems very clumsily handled in Denmark if the parents were taken by surprise.

JacquelineCarlyle · 29/09/2022 07:58

I assumed it would have been discussed and agreed first. What makes you say they isn't know @CliffsofMohair?

Saw that the eldest is a runway model - he's a very good looking young man!
