Evening Royal style and beauty fans.
Into the Carolean era, with more bling we hope! Also more state banquets?

I like Kate's red coat very much.

The green dress looks lovely on M-M. CPH is looking very handsome there too.

CaveMum · 28/09/2022 09:27

If William and Kate start picking up more Royal duties including Royal Ascot you might get your wish re more hats!

There’s quite a bit of concern here in the racing industry as HM was by far and away our biggest supporter and asset. Rumour has it Camilla will pick up a lot of the racing obligations relating to the horses owned and possibly Ascot Racecourse, but we’re not sure where that leaves the patronages that are now vacant.

The first horse in the Royal colours and listed as owned by “The King” is due to run tomorrow at Salisbury in the 4.54.

Named “Educator” he was characteristically well-named by Her Majesty (who personally chose names for all her horses) as he is out of (racing speak for who the mother is) “Diploma”.

ChimneyPot · 28/09/2022 10:06

Isn’t Kate allergic to horses?

Kate's coat is available now but I think £599 is a bit steep for a high street coat, especially one that isn't 100% wool.

Omg only 67% wool! I would expect wool and cashmere for that price 😀

That’s the rumour. I can’t recall seeing any pics of the young Cambridges on ponies, surprising considering how much William loved his polo.

NiqueNique · 28/09/2022 10:31

100% wool isn’t great for water resistance, so a little bit of other material is often added to ensure that (helpful for the weather here).

Oh that’s interesting didn’t know that! I have a couple of vintage coats that are wool/cashmere but hardly ever wear them anyway sadly. They just feel too formal now for everyday wear

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 28/09/2022 11:08

I love my wool coats, and have a couple of coloured ones. Sadly, you're more likely to find me in an anorak most of the time.

It's a bit worrying isn't it? I'm part of an organisation that the Queen was the patron of since before she was the Queen! We had a lovely message from her when the bit I'm involved with celebrated it's centenary. It's a performance-y one, so I think the hope is that Prince Edward might pick it up, but with Charles wanting to slim down the monarchy I don't know whether some things will just lose their patrons entirely.

CaveMum · 28/09/2022 11:24

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams I’m loosely associated with a racing charity through work that HM was patron of - the Chairman and CEO got invited to the funeral.

They’re hoping for Camilla or Anne.

KillingMeDeftly · 28/09/2022 12:12

Are any of HMQ's children as into racing as she was? I know Anne and Zara are accomplished horsewomen but their interest has always seemed to be riding and eventing rather than racing. I can imagine Camilla enjoying a flutter though!

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 28/09/2022 13:20

@CaveMum that sounds really historic, the idea of there being a Kings horse again after all these years.

None as much as Her late-Majesty. Zara has helped out with National Hunt horses, she used to date former Champion Jump Jockey Richard Johnson before she settled down with Mike Tindall.

Camilla does seem to enjoy racing, she has a handful of horses in training both with Charles and in her own right.

The King (still can’t get used to that!) has his own colours (red body, blue sleeves, black cap) and rode in a few races as an amateur jockey over Jumps back in the day.

CaveMum · 28/09/2022 14:16

I should add that as the King takes over the Royal colours I imagine he’ll gift his personal colours to Camilla, I can’t see William taking them on!

Charlotte apparently rides and wanted a pony for her last birthday.

In other Royal news, the Danish Royal Household has just announced that Prince Joachim’s four children will no longer be Princes and Princess of Denmark, as of January ‘23.

Nikolai, Felix, Henrik and Athena will instead only be known as Counts and Countess of Monpezat.

It seems to have been a completely unexpected development.

I’ve already commented on another thread, thinking it was this one, so I’ll copy and paste below:

Countess Alexandra's secretary Helle von Wildenrath Løvgreen explains to BILLED-BLADET that Countess Alexandra, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie are deeply shocked by the change in their children's titles.
^^
Countess Alexandra (Joachim’s ex-wife) has said the following:
^^
‘We are all confused by the decision. We are saddened and in shock. This comes like a bolt from the blue. The children feel ostracized. They cannot understand why their identity is being taken away from them.’
^^
Her press secretary also added that Alexandra is too shocked by this development to comment further.’

— taken from Billed ‘

Sorry that last sentence isn’t quite right...Alexandra is feeling too deeply affected by this announcement to be able to comment further, might be a better translation.

Doesn’t seem like any of them had much prior notice of this decision.

Interestingly, Joachim and Marie were due to attend the gala dinner held last week (I think?), the one that Daisy had to forego as she was ill, but at the last minute it was announced that they would not be attending. I wondered why at the time since no explanation was given. However I wonder (and it is only speculation!) whether this might have something to do with it.

(Commenting in reply to the fact that the same was done by the Swedish Royal Household in respect of Madeleine and Carl Philip’s children) Yes but there’s a bit of a difference IMO - certainly for Nikolai and Felix who are adults. For them it will be a much bigger change than it was for Madeleine’s children who are still very young. Even Henrik and Athena are older children/pre-teens now and will have been brought up with Prince and Princess as a big part of their identity.

I can understand, of course, why it’s being done. And of course they couldn’t remove the younger children’s titles without also removing those belonging to the older ones. But it does seem rather late in the day to be making this change.

NiqueNique · 28/09/2022 16:43

Sorry if that’s a bit of a muddle!

I’ve got to say I’m a little surprised at the manner in which this seems to have been done.

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 28/09/2022 16:53

@NiqueNique I’m not up on any other royal family’s other than UK, why has this been done ? I’m interested to see if it’s a “slimming down “ exercise similar to what King Charles is reportedly thinking of.

NiqueNique · 28/09/2022 16:58

Yes it is with a view to creating a slimmed down Monarchy. It has already been decided that Christian is the only one of Fred and CPM’s children who will be given a stipend, for example.

The statement from the Queen states the same rationale as that of the Swedish King - that the children of lower ranking royals will find being a Prince/ss to be a liability as and when they have to make a living (since they will not be working Royals). So it is a sensible decision looking at it long-term. But it had caused quite a stir in Denmark!

SenecaFallsRedux · 28/09/2022 17:17

It's not the same as in Sweden, though. Madeleine and Carl Philp's children lost HRH, but they still have the title prince/princess, as I understand it.

KillingMeDeftly · 28/09/2022 17:25

Are you in Denmark @NiqueNique? You are v knowledgeable about the Scandi royals!

Yes. That’s why Alexandra sounds so shocked, I think. I don’t think it was expected for the title of Prince/ss to be revoked as well!

NiqueNique · 28/09/2022 17:38

@KillingMeDeftly no I’ve lived in the U.K. most of my adult life. But I’m Danish so I keep an eye on what’s going on at home (when it comes to royalty at least). Smile

KillingMeDeftly · 28/09/2022 17:46

What do the Danes think of our favourite birthday girl??

Tassen · 28/09/2022 17:49

It doesn't sound very fair to take their title away, as it seems like losing a bit of your identity.
Surely it would be far better to say that from this point onwards only the future heir to the throne's children will have titles, so when Prince Christian is first in line to the throne his children will all be princes/princesses but Princesses Isabella & Josephine & Prince Vincent's children will just be Counts & Countesses.

And the same thing happens when Christian is King & so on.

Would be fairer
