Evening Royal style and beauty fans.
Into the Carolean era, with more bling we hope! Also more state banquets?

(Love Elizabeth Taylor. Her book about her jewellery collection is on my wish list.)

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 27/09/2022 17:36

Kate's coat is from L K Bennett and is called the Spencer. I assume it was intentional!

‘Not so vulgar now, is it?’

Love Wallis' PoW brooch. That's gorgeous.

You are all SO my people!
I'm fascinated by Wallis and also Elizabeth Taylor.
Kate looks gorgeous and modern. Loving they're and black co combo.

NiqueNique · 27/09/2022 17:49

Max takes it to the max in yellow!

Nope, no luck! Sorry, you’ll have to click to see full image.

Eaumyword · 27/09/2022 17:53

*red and black combo! Auto correct!🙄

Maireas · 27/09/2022 17:53

Wowsers, Max! She doesn't disappoint, does she? That's certainly an arresting shade.

On anyone else, that would be too much, but Max rocks it!

NiqueNique · 27/09/2022 17:58

Meanwhile Mette-Marit wears a dress that CPV has also worn. Not the same dress, you understand! Although...maybe they do mix and match and exchange between them! We would never know.

Yes, I love the way that she's so bold with colours and bling, and totally carries it off.

Daisy has recovered and visited Oslo to accept an award/prize which was presented to her by Queen Sonja. Daisy wore a rather nice pendant.

They also attended a gala dinner together.

How lovely to see Daisy again. Nice pic of her and Sonja.

Mary toned it down in grey for a work thing (not sure what the thing is).

I like the grey with that hint of blue. Nice touch with the suede (I think) shoes.

I prefer the way CPV has styled the dress, apart from that nude heel.

M-M looks like she's just thrown Captain Von Trapp's jacket over the top of it on her way out

NiqueNique · 27/09/2022 18:17

And a picture of Queen Ingrid looking fabulously elegant. At the United Nations HQ listening to a speech being delivered by her husband.

Oh I wish we could all still dress like that!

NiqueNique · 27/09/2022 18:21

I actually don’t mind the nude heels in that ensemble. I expect it coordinates perfectly with the dress, and I think if it’s done well (and in small doses!) it can look great. And the fact that she hasn’t matched bag and shoes makes it so much better!

NiqueNique · 27/09/2022 18:22

You’re so right about the jacket!

Tassen · 27/09/2022 18:42

My late Nan had a stole just like Queen Ingrid's they were born only a couple of years apart so it looks like that was the fashion for women in their late thirties & their forties in the 1950s.

Love the colour combo that Daisy is wearing in the picture with Sonja.
Sally Nugent on BBC Breakfast was in hot pink trousers & a dark purple top the other morning. Those colours go really well together & I'd wear those colours together so would Max!

I also think Wallis was cast as the scarlet woman/scapegoat re the Abdication. Yet it was really David who was the royal pain in the neck although Wallis not entirely blameless herself.

I always think it was very convenient for the government of the day that Wallis married David, as no one wanted a Nazi sympathiser on the throne.

It really wouldn't surprise me if files are released in the next 20/30 years admitting that Wallis was really a spy for the US/UK government but it all got a bit messy.

Btw I am a frequent poster but I've name changed.

NiqueNique · 27/09/2022 18:48

I have a (faux) fur stole but have never had occasion to wear it. I bought it for my other life...the one where I live in an episode of Poirot, or better yet Downton Abbey!

NiqueNique · 27/09/2022 18:50

Yes @Tassen I think everyone was relieved when that problem took care of itself and you’re right, I suppose there could well be hidden depths to the story.

Maireas · 27/09/2022 18:51

Evening, Tassen. You could be right, but I think Wallis was more likely an agent for Nazi Germany!

DH's granny had 2 fur coats and several stoles (all real) we sold them on ebay, they were all bought by tv & theatre costumers. We watch things like Downton avidly trying to spot them. There was also a sporran that belonged to his grandad that was made from an otter. DD was appalled but didn't object when we went to Disneyland with the money.
We are getting a visit from Charles & Camilla next week (where we live that is they're not dropping in for a cuppa). It's confirming our city status that we got as part of Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
