Umm, can we talk about autumn yet?

Look, if you're the type of person still wearing sandals in October, this might not be the thread for you Grin

But... if you are like me and an autumn-loving, pumpkin-spice drinking, leaf kicker, what's on your list?

I'll start:

Flared jeans (I have some, just looking for the right shoes/boots to wear with)
Trench coat
Tweed blazer
Barrel leg cords in a rusty colour.
Deep berry lipstick

I bought some Veja high tops in the summer sales which I’m really looks forward to wearing. I’ll be buying some soft jumpers and a new winter coat which will see me through many hours at the football sidelines!

dolphinsarentcommon · 28/07/2022 13:05

Well I've noticed a few jumpers, coats and jackets appearing in shops so not too early for me

I'm definitely after some comfy (I'm old) warm everyday boots, suitable for dresses with thick tights and trousers.

I've decided to ditch jeans. I'm just not happy in them anymore so will also be on the lookout for warm leggings and jeans alternatives

threesortsofjam · 28/07/2022 14:03

Good idea!

I'm looking for a duffle coat if that doesn't sound too boring. In some shade of blue probably.

Also need a lightweight, possibly pack away type, running jacket.

Stealing the berry lipstick idea.

CountryCousin · 28/07/2022 14:18

I’m so over Summer, already …

Just received some low slung heavy cotton chinos from Raey at Matches that I’ve coveted for ages. They’ll be fine for normal English Summer weather with a t shirt and sandals but will really come into their own with a tweed jacket and stompy ankle boots.

The denim maxi I bought in Spring was almost unwearable on holiday lately - I’m now planning its ongoing use with Shetland wool sweaters and a huge coat.

But I do envy people who are comfortable in skimpy tops. I just feel exposed and ridiculous.

toucaninjapan · 28/07/2022 14:24

I can't wait to wear my deep red velvet trousers with my orange/red/brown fair isle sweater with foxes on it. They look quite nice with my strawberry blonde hair. Also can't wait to put on my hat with feather crown, I love it so much.
I also got some lovely jumpers and straight khaki jeans on summer sale, looking forward to wearing them in October (if we are lucky enough. We still get +25 days here in October 😩).
And I want to try pumpkin spice latte if Starbucks brings it back this year!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/07/2022 14:25

I don't need much but am looking for:
a Chanel-esque black jacket
some sort of dark green midi dress
a slouchy green cardigan - I want to channel my inner Neville Longbottom
a midi tube skirt in either black or a pattern including black, maybe leopard

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/07/2022 14:37

I’m in!

I ordered this jumper last night which is the absolute best - I have the grey and brown from last year, but realise the black is half price:

www.arket.com/en_gbp/women/knitwear/product.alpaca-blend-jumper-black.0900663001.html

it is the perfect over-sized, comforting fit.

GeneParmesanPrivateEye · 28/07/2022 15:36

Ooh, that's nice Judy - I like the brown very much.

@toucaninjapan I need to see pictures of this hat!

Since I've thought about this, I've also added boots to my list. I like my docs, but I hate breaking them in, and they still aren't quite 'there'. I've seen nice Air and Grace ones, which are apparently very comfortable... but I admit I'm a slightly put off A&G with all the influencers wearing the trainers. I like things a bit more under the radar.

Yes finally!! Autumn is my season and my birthday in Oct
Love all your items apart from red lip. Wish I could but born with a cleft so totally paranoid about it
I'd also add cashmere scarf thick socks and nice boots

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/07/2022 16:33

Ooh yes, I'm still looking for the perfect black scarf - maybe cashmere or maybe a mix.

xogossipgirlxo · 28/07/2022 16:38

Marking my place to come back later. I don't care about the Summer, I don't need anything more, but I am going to start getting ready for the winter. I need loads of stuff.

xogossipgirlxo · 28/07/2022 16:38

autumn/winter

Floisme · 28/07/2022 17:21

I think pumpkin spiced anything is an abomination but anyway.

I'm bored of my ankles so drifting back to full length trousers, preferably wide leg. Yes yes, rain, puddles, yada yada yada, I know all that so skip it. I shouldn't need to buy any but I'm looking forward to routing through the cupboard and getting out some old favourites.

I'm also hankering after some expensive shoes but that's crazy because a) I murder shoes and b) I'm heading towards a lifestyle change (retirement) so I really ought to take stock first. We'll see.

Tiddlywinkly · 28/07/2022 18:21

Oh god yes!!!! Roll on autumn. I'm already bored

GeneParmesanPrivateEye · 28/07/2022 19:26

All the more reason to treat yourself @Floisme - retirement present!

Floisme · 28/07/2022 19:49

I know Gene but getting paid not to work will be a treat all on its own 😀

serenedream · 28/07/2022 21:27

Lol, i thought you said 'leaf licker'!

I love autumn. I am wondering how to transition my wider leg stuff with my long wool coats and Dr Who scarves Grin.........most likely with fitted knits and big chunky boots.
I'd said I would bring the skinnies back out in the colder months but I'm not sure now. They feel a little alien to me, although they look great with boots. I hate the idea of anything grasping onto my upper thighs!

I like the idea of slim/boyfriend jeans rolled a bit over chunky warm socks and my docs. A slim jumper and wool coat. For outdoors I revert back to my hiking tights and puffer, waterproof stuff and hiking boots from the past few years.

Accessories are a thing for me in winter - a nice cashmere beanie, gloves, long scarf. I use a rucksack for almost everything these days, or a cotton tote. I'm a lot less interested in expensive bags or fancy footwear. I suppose it depends on lifestyle, i wfh and don't have to appear on camera so generally slop around in yoga stuff.

But this year, this year I am going to purchase some leg warmers!!!!!!! Smile

serenedream · 28/07/2022 21:29

I would also like some dark green wide leg cords. Bring on the soggy hemlines Grin

cremedelacardi · 28/07/2022 21:45

judy I'm a size 14 what size jumper in Arket would you recommend I get??? Thank you

Mysaucepanbroke · 28/07/2022 22:00

I love this thread! DH just bought me dark red converse that I’ve wanted since 2006!

Im looking for deep coloured cable knit tights.

I have just bought an autumnal checked shirt from eBay.

Can anyone recommend me some jeans to wear with my converse? And my DM’s too?

I used to love dark green trousers but haven’t seen any for years! I’m 5ft 3 and a size 10 but am thinking slim / straight jeans of some type.

Also, slightly off topic but hair! I have highlights that have grown out and Im tempted to go auburn!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/07/2022 22:00

@cremedelacardi I think M - mine are S and I am generally a 10 top. They are such good jumpers!

Mysaucepanbroke · 28/07/2022 22:03

Fox jumper sounds amazing! I want one!!

cremedelacardi · 28/07/2022 22:06

judy thank you!

GeneParmesanPrivateEye · 28/07/2022 22:08

@Mysaucepanbroke You must go auburn. Demonstrate your autumn commitment! Grin
I like 'mom' jeans, or even dad jeans slightly rolled up to skim the top of docs or high tops. @serenedream I think that's the kind of thing you mean as well?

Magpiecomplex · 28/07/2022 22:21

I would like a long black or dark skirt which isn't a jersey tube. I'm hoping the prairie style of dresses this summer will spill over into something that will fit the bill this autumn/winter.
