Upper Blepheroplasty

I've made a decision, it will be this year. Can anyone recommend a surgeon for the upper bleph that they have personally used?
If you can provide pictures that would be so great. Thanks in advance!

Oh god, I feel for you wearing that in this heat. I'd love a before and after of the VR.

@pharmachameleon Your eyes look amazing! If you’re still reading the thread I’d be very interested if you have a recommendation as I am in Scotland and was thinking that I might have to travel to York.

pharmachameleon · 26/06/2023 07:17

@Jacopo Margaret Strick did my surgery back in 2019. Still so happy I did it.

@pharmachameleon Thank you! Very useful to know - and also good to hear that everything still great after a a few years have passed.

pharmachameleon · 26/06/2023 09:24

@Jacopo yes all fine. The after photo I posted below was from a few weeks ago so if I posted a photo from just after the op the difference would probably be even more marked. It's completely opened my eyes up.
The surgeon who did my op said it's the only cosmetic procedure she would ever consider for herself as it's minimally invasive and the results are so good afterwards.

Jacopo · 26/06/2023 09:51

That’s an interesting comment from the surgeon!

Absolutely, will do, and yes it's not pleasant wearing the compression garment :(. Everything is healing really well, and I haven't had that much bruising at all with the eyes or the VR. I've still got a little swelling and numbness (VR), but this should all be gone in a couple of weeks.

Here you go. I had the stitches out this morning, and really pleased with the results so far, and I don't have to wear that compression garment any more, thank God. The eyes are still a little puffy, as is the jawline (on one side) but you get the general idea. I'll be the finished article in about another 4 weeks. I am 60 btw.

What a fabulous result on your lower face. You look transformed!

KatharinaRosalie · 30/06/2023 17:15

wow the jawline especially looks amazing, you must be so pleased!

VIVS63 · 30/06/2023 17:35

Thank you, yes I'm particularly pleased with the jawline, I don't look so sad and down in the mouth any more 😃. I think the eyes will look better once the puffiness has subsided. I'm so glad I took the plunge and did this, and can highly recommend Coppergate Clinic and Chris West.

Toffeeappler · 30/06/2023 18:24

Oh my god your JAWLINE!! ❤

Amazing thread, so happy I found it, thanks everyone for sharing.

Slowgrowingelm · 09/09/2023 16:28

Thank you for the Saul Rajak recommendation @OnthePiste - I’m just over two weeks post op and I am so (beyond) happy with the result!
Just need to find a SW lower face surgeon next 😂

Oh that's great to hear! Can you tell me about your recovery time? Feel free to PM if you prefer. I've not had mine done yet as I need to have another op and not sure whether to have it done before or after.

Slowgrowingelm · 09/09/2023 17:38

It was pretty good all in all. There’s no way I would have stepped out of the house for a few days, and then after that only in baseball cap sunglasses.

I’ve had a breast lift in the past so I know that swelling can be bad outside of the immediate area, as the white blood cells flood the surrounding area to increase healing (or something like that) - my whole mid and lower face had some swelling, not an issue in front of strangers but it was an added consideration re going outside. I had an antibiotic ointment to squeeze over the incisions on my lids. It’s good for it to go over the eye and under the lid as well but it contains paraffin so I couldn’t see a damn thing most of the time. You’re not meant to but I did try and watch my laptop but I couldn’t see very much.

I really didn’t move much for a few days, although was so much better I started a very, very slow jog on Day 8 and continued with short runs in the following days.

I had lots of bad swelling around the eyes for several days, upper lid obviously, and I still have some now. The lower eye areas puffed up like two big slugs. I had bruising there but not as bad as I thought (mind you I was popping arnica pills like smarties, not sure if they helped!). Pain was manageable- I had some paracetamol before bed the first night because I needed to, I had them the second night because I didn’t know how well I would sleep, but I didn’t really need them. I think for me the swelling is the worst thing in terms of people seeing you. I was looking a lot better by day 10 and now I still have obvious pink lids but it doesn’t bother me.

I slept upright on a mountain of pillows for about 5 nights, I was paranoid I would touch my eyes but never did. The only thing I didn’t do which I think I should have, maybe, is iced my lids but I was worried about anything touching them and making the incisions infected.

Slowgrowingelm · 09/09/2023 17:44

For reference I noticed droopiness out of nowhere at the beginning of ‘22. It won’t look like much to other people but it seemed to happen over night. Also a little pouch of fat just above my inner eyes. By the beginning of this year it felt like my eyelid had practically collapsed, and the fat pockets would squish around as I applied makeup. I couldn’t put shadow on without holding my lid up. I’m almost 49, it’s not as bad as it could have been but I think the suddenness really throw me. Mr Rajak suctioned out my little fat pockets as well as cutting the lids, I am very happy about that 😂

Sorry meant to say - the red circles are the fat pockets, you can’t see them in the photos really, but they were like little balls of fat that sat in my kids. The red arrows are the droopiness.

Slowgrowingelm · 09/09/2023 17:55

mistake on the 2nd makeup photo - that was exactly 2 weeks, not 10 days. Stitches were taken out 7 days earlier. Had a function I needed to go to otherwise I would have waited another few days tbh.
sorry for the essay 🤦🏻‍♀️

OnthePisteAgain · 10/09/2023 17:19

Thanks @Slowgrowingelm that gives me an idea how long I need to lay low for! You look great, you must be thrilled,

Shreddedcorn · 10/09/2023 17:26

KatharinaRosalie · 10/09/2023 18:28

I've posted about mine before, but I had the blepharoplasty on wednesday, got stitches out on Monday and was fine to be out and about. I don't bruise easily though.

sauvignonplonk1 · 25/01/2024 19:57

So, I thought I'd revive this thread as it has been so helpful for me....

I'm totally thrilled and just need to share! I had my upper bleph surgery last Thursday and took my stitches out this morning via FaceTime (I'm in the South East and I travelled up to York for surgery). What a transformation Smile

Off the back of this thread and the numerous recommendations and photos, which spoke for themselves, I chose Mr Nick Rhodes at Coppergate in York for my op. I truly cannot recommend him and his team enough, my experience at Coppergate from beginning to end has been fabulous.

Here is a pic of my saggy eyes before and then this morning immediately after stitches were removed. So very very pleased!

Happy to answer any questions if anyone has any - as I said before, this thread has been invaluable to me.

That's an incredible result. Did you have any swelling?

sauvignonplonk1 · 25/01/2024 20:06

@friggingnora thank you! No major swelling or bruising to speak of - I have been taking arnica as advised and trying hard to sleep with my head propped up which is bloody difficult!
