Upper Blepheroplasty

I've made a decision, it will be this year. Can anyone recommend a surgeon for the upper bleph that they have personally used?
If you can provide pictures that would be so great. Thanks in advance!

So, I thought I'd revive this thread as it has been so helpful for me....

I'm totally thrilled and just need to share! I had my upper bleph surgery last Thursday and took my stitches out this morning via FaceTime (I'm in the South East and I travelled up to York for surgery). What a transformation Smile

Off the back of this thread and the numerous recommendations and photos, which spoke for themselves, I chose Mr Nick Rhodes at Coppergate in York for my op. I truly cannot recommend him and his team enough, my experience at Coppergate from beginning to end has been fabulous.

Here is a pic of my saggy eyes before and then this morning immediately after stitches were removed. So very very pleased!

Happy to answer any questions if anyone has any - as I said before, this thread has been invaluable to me.

That looks brilliant, and no bruising! I took arnica too, but still had a little bruising under one eye. It was easy to conceal though, and had gone completely within a couple of weeks.

Dontsayyouloveme · 26/01/2024 19:14

sauvignonplonk1 fantastic result 🥰 it’s game changer isn’t it! Mr Rhodes did mine last year and I’m soo please and like you said the clinic itself and all the staff are fantastic 😍

Toopolitetoask · 26/01/2024 19:54

That's a fantastic result, you must be so pleased!

I've dipped into this thread a few times for inspiration and was wondering if there's any recommended age range for eyelid surgery? Eg in terms of maximising results as I assume aging will still do it's thing, and I'd hate to lose the benefit too quickly.

I have always wanted surgery for my lower bags although I'm not sure what is possible as they're genetic and affected by the underlying bone structure I assume. And now I'm in my forties I do miss my upper eyelids, I've given up wearing make up because it just disappears. I'm tempted to start saving with the hope I can have both, if it's viable.

@sauvignonplonk1 I’m planning an upper blepharoplasty +/- brow lift this year… and I’ve been considering travelling up to coppergate from the south east. Did you do an overnight stay and get the train home? Did you have local and sedation? Where did you stay? I’m a midwife so would be happy to remove my own stitches, that’s great it’s an option!!

sauvignonplonk1 · 26/01/2024 20:11

@PointerParty my husband and I travelled up by train on Wednesday, I had the surgery under local anaesthetic on Thursday morning, we stayed overnight again and travelled back on Friday morning. We made a mini break of it and stayed at the Grand Hotel which was lovely - super dinners and breakfast included! Train each way took approximately 2hrs between Kings Cross and York and the hotel is literally 5 minutes walk from the station and Coppergate Clinic is 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The continuous stitches were a breeze to remove. Go for it, you won't regret it!

sauvignonplonk1 · 26/01/2024 20:44

@Toopolitetoask I'm not sure there's an optimum age - I'm 52. I do know a couple of people that are now 15 years on from having surgery and they still look as if it was done yesterday!

OneFrenchEgg · 27/01/2024 07:18

@sauvignonplonk1 what was the cost of you don't mind? I'm in the SE and it's around £5000 here

I am in the South East and I have not been quoted anything like that much. The consultant I plan to use is under 3K. Saul Rajak, he operates in Sussex (Worthing and Brighton). Highly recommended oculoplastic surgeon.

OneFrenchEgg · 27/01/2024 07:27

Th am you. I'm a bit stuck because I need someone close to my consultant or who will also administer an IV pre treatment due to an underlying health condition. It's frustrating as it's restrictive of where I can go.

sauvignonplonk1 · 27/01/2024 07:32

@OneFrenchEgg it cost £150 for the initial consultation (via FaceTime) and the £1995 for the surgery. So much cheaper than in London/South East - not that price was a factor in my final decision, I'd have paid more but I researched a lot and always came back to Nick Rhodes so the price was irrelevant although a bonus (and still much cheaper even factoring in the hotel/train fare)!

As someone else on this thread has mentioned before I think it's just the difference between prices in the North vs the South of England as other surgeons in that area charge the same. On another thread, someone has paid £10k in London!

Why not book a consultation with Nick Rhodes and see how you feel? Also read his reviews on Google and Trustpilot, they are very reassuring.

OneFrenchEgg · 27/01/2024 09:18

@sauvignonplonk1 thank you. Cost is a factor a bit I guess - in that if there is a choice between two I'd prefer to spend less. I've contacted one here who is recommended but might look again at the do-ability of travel.

NV42 · 27/01/2024 09:52

@sauvignonplonk1 May I ask if they recommended having a botox injection two weeks before the operation, to relax the eyebrow muscles and ensure all fat is visible?

A consultant in London (I live in London) told me of this trick. I am
planning though to go to York too, as the price difference is massive.

sauvignonplonk1 · 27/01/2024 10:26

@NV42 no, I've never heard of that being done in this instance tbh!

KatharinaRosalie · 27/01/2024 11:13

I had mine done 5 years ago, here is before and then today. Skin clearly a bit more saggy than it was right after surgery, but I'm still happy with the results

Wow amazing results. Would you mind letting me know which surgeon? Happy to be DMd if you don't want to post. Many thanks.

Purplesilkpyjamas · 27/01/2024 18:47

Thanks. Did you travel from the UK? Cannot work out which country he is in.

KatharinaRosalie · 27/01/2024 22:59

The clinic is in Tallinn, Estonia - direct flights from London.

OneFrenchEgg · 10/03/2024 17:56

Hi all, reviving as I'm seeing someone at Gatwick Park next month, looking forward to seeing if it's viable for me.

PointerParty · 12/03/2024 13:38

@OneFrenchEgg let us know how you get on, I still really want to do this. Was considering travelling to glasgow, gatwick is closer!

OneFrenchEgg · 12/03/2024 13:46

Of course. I have to have a pre treatment so needed to see if the surgeon was 1. Find someone/short list 2. Ask if they would be ok with this
It's £250 for the consultation, only cost so far.
