Upper Blepheroplasty

I've made a decision, it will be this year. Can anyone recommend a surgeon for the upper bleph that they have personally used?
If you can provide pictures that would be so great. Thanks in advance!

Amazing! How was it? Who did you choose in the end?

itwasntmetho · 03/04/2023 15:04

Ah my pic didn't attach, I went to Coppergate in York. James Smith did it, they were very nice.

Oh I'd love to see the results. That probably my clinic choice, would you let me know how it went and how much it was? Good luck with the healing

Oooo so glad you’ve had it done! The clinic is great isn’t it and everyone is so nice. So how did you find the procedure? How you feeling now? 😊

itwasntmetho · 03/04/2023 18:45

It was a lovely place and everyone was so nice.
I was so nervous, but I didn't really need to be, it was pain free all the way through, even the injection didn't hurt like I expected.
The only discomfort was when the anesthetic started wearing off but the paracetamol hadn't kicked in yet, it was a bit stingy for about 45 minutes nothing unbearable though, I had another dose 4 hours after the first but more as a preventative the sting hasn't returned since this morning, they said paracetamol should be enough and that should go after 24 hrs.

I'm really glad I did it, it's not something I'd worry about repeating if the problem returned (my Mum has really heavy closed eyelids so they might return over the decades)
@Tallisker it was £2,000.

Thanks this has been a really useful thread - I am looking for a good lower blepharoplasty in the future.

Pineappleredwine · 03/04/2023 19:52

Hi OP - please will you keep us informed about your healing progress. Ie, when can you wash your eyes with face wash and when can you wear eyeliner and mascara again? Thanks.

Also, when can you drive again?

itwasntmetho · 03/04/2023 20:26

I can wear make up in three weeks, apply light moisturiser in ten days when the stitches are out and drive from tomorrow.
I’m staying over in York because I’m from SE and have no one to drive me so I’m pretty much sitting off for a couple of days but I have been out for a little stroll this evening. I need to keep blood pressure down for a week or so I think.

Hi are you told you have to sleep sat up for a few days or no sleeping on your side ( that is the bit I'd find hard ! ) How many days before your stiches are removed ? Could that he done at your gp or back to the clinic ?

itwasntmetho · 04/04/2023 20:29

I was told to prop my head up for two nights, I'm staying in a Premier Inn nearby because I didn't want to carry my bags around London getting home the next day and I can WFH so brought my laptop so I don't need to move much for 48 hrs. My pillows are really fat so it was easy to prop up.
I can't really see any swelling yet and have the tiniest bruise spot in the dark circle of one eye.
The clinic have been in touch by text today reminding what swelling is to be expected and to take it very easy and be mindful of head position (no leaning forward). I've had no pain since the discomfort immediately after yesterday.
I have a video apt scheduled to take my own stitch out because it's a running stitch which you just snip and pull. If I don't have the stomach for it I might book in with a botox clinic I've been to before as everyone there is a GP or RGN, but the NHS GP won't do it as it's an elective private op. They do take the stitches out there of course, but said it's not worth an eight hour round trip.
I can take the strips off after seven days and stitches out on day ten.

Thank you so much for the updates. How's it looking today? I hope you're not stranded in York on your own (although there are worse places...)

itwasntmetho · 05/04/2023 09:25

I am here on my own, I didn’t want to ask anyone to drive me as it’s so far and I’m single and everyone has their own kids etc to sort. It’s been quite relaxing actually ds is with his dad, but I’m off home today. It might have been an over reaction staying two nights after but I didn’t over do it so that’s the main thing.
looking pretty similar to yesterday, I can’t really see swelling at all. It probably is swollen though under the strips.

MayBeee · 08/04/2023 11:43

How are you ? Hopefully any swelling has now gone down and you have been pain free .

itwasntmetho · 08/04/2023 17:16

I haven’t really had any swelling like I expected. Unless I just can’t see it. Just one tiny bit of bruise.
I’m really looking forward to wearing mascara again.

That’s the before, one dropped quite visibly more than the other and the fold on the outer corner dragged them down like sad droopy eyes. They used to be open and more round and I never wore much makeup but felt pretty done with a little bit of eyeshadow and mascara. I haven’t felt like I look done for a couple of years now even with foundation, mascara, shadow it all just got buried under all of that flesh.

Wow, looks like you’ve got away with hardly any swelling or bruising! 😊 I work full eyeshadow, mascara etc this week for the first time since having mine done in February. It’s a joy not dragging all that spare skin around with the eyeshadow brush and being able to see it instead of being hidden under the folds! 🤣

I think I'm going to go the same route as you OP as also WFH and have no one to drive me. Love reading the experiences of people on here which has helped me decide to go for it!
